Hi people, first time posting here, so excuse my unfamiliarity with the forum.

I have one general question, although the answer is smewhere in here, but going through 1600+ pages of posts is a lil annoying.

To
what extent is Miranda's role in ME3?  I've read that she's not a squad
member and this was months ago.  Any new news will be appreciated, and
thanks to your replies in advance.

She's not a "permanent" squad member. Other than that I don't know much, because I am trying to avoid spoilers. BTW, welcome to the forum.

I'm seriously surprised people are actually still clinging onto whatever little false hope there is left and believing that Bioware wouldn't betray them like this. So much faith invested into Bioware...and what did we get?

That's right, we got F*CKED UP THE ASS. By a substandard, lazy-ass writer who was whingeing about how 'burnt-out' he was just because he had to write less than half the script of two games. His name happens to be Hack-I mean Mac Walters.

I don't think the responsibility for this can be laid at any individual's feet.

And Miranda's role can still be good. Even if it doesn't matter in the end. I'll still be able to enjoy 99% of ME3 at least once, and I'm going to pretend the rest doesn't exist.

But that won't stop me from using my stockpile of verbal tars and feathers once I have seen everything for myself. It actually appears like the stockpile is not big enough, something I would've never imagined just two days ago.

Actually, it can, given that Mac Walters was the one who wrote the overarching plot. He didn't really do details, he was assigned to do the big picture.

And I'm not even talking about Miranda's role here; I'm talking about the entirety of ME3.

I know you were talking about ME3. I'd recommend to relegate details on that to the spoiler group for a few more days. There will be explosions enough on the forums after the game is out. Provided that we haven't fallen for a meticulously planned trolling campaign.

Also I don't have your aversion against Mac Walters. In fact I'd trust him with a fitting conclusion of Miranda's story rather more than Patrick Weekes who wrote her in ME2. As I said, it's hard to say who's responsible for this disaster. It might be the result of executive meddling. Given the little I know of the developers, I Casey Hudson is the culprit if there's any one individual.

What I've played in the demo, and what I've read I'm looking forward to the vast majority of ME3, my major concern is how exactly the story is going to end.

What sort makes me nervous is that Mac Walter's post "The Road to Love and Happiness" on the bioware blog pretty much says "It's not about the outcome, its about the events leading up to the end right?"

Am I the only one that found Miranda's office being used by Liara now, a little bit aggravating?

Obviously, the space should be used, it would go to waste.. However, I can't deny that I'm not particularly enticed about it.

I don't really mind, but Liara really hasn't interested me after they kept switching her personality throughout the series.

Same could be said of the entire ship.

I hope I can say to Liara, as I walk into the office, something like "Hm, I wish Miranda was still here..."

I ****ing hate it when people say, 'it's not the destination, its the journey'.  You know who says that?  Losers who don't have a kick ass ending.

Well, it's not like it resembles the office in any way anymore.
Which either makes it better or worse, depending on how you look at it.

Is not about the appearance, or the practical use of the ''office'', it's simple the fact that Liara decided to invade Miranda's former '' territory '' in a manner of speaking, and re-purpose it.
Naturally, this would be reasonable, provided Normandy was overcrowded, or there wasn't enough space, however... From the video, I've noticed that 1/3 of the Normandy isn't used ( An estimation which might be an underestimation by my side )

Thus, why Miranda's office? Even more when a potential Shepard in question has a relationship with Miranda, and Liara is well acquainted with it.

At the point presented, from an in-character perspective, we're not aware that Miranda won't join the '' crew '' ( Hollow hope inserted -- We don't know for certain from our current information either ) thus Liara's actions are rather erratic, rushed, and a complete nonsense, sort of speak.
That's why it vexes me. Isn't something major, but is something fairly noticeable.

Yeah I hate that too. It's as if these people don't realize how a crappy ending can ruin an otherwise great story. It makes sense as an allegory for life, because life isn't necessarily crappy because it ends in death, but we know that in advance and we could avoid that end, of course we would. For a written story, this saying usually indicates the worst kind of ending.

Agreed. It's just an office, but it's symbolic. As I said elsewhere, I made a closer connection with my ME2 team than I ever made with the ME1 team. Also the Normandy SR2 doesn't belong to the Alliance, and I'm going to miss the Lazarus crew which were almost like a family.

And to have Liara specifically usurp that office galls me.
