Their seeming contempt for ME2 romances having a tiny bright spot doesn't fill me with joy but i will use gratefully accept the freedom it gives me to headcanon if it proves accurate.

Be careful. Things can still go downhill. The person who played the game didn't romance Miranda and so didn't get to see her final scene. We may be on the same page as others if she tells romanced Shepard she won't be in the Sol system for some contrived reason, while the non-romanced Shepards get no information and have her stay on Earth by implication.

Yeah, that would be totally in the spirit of how Bioware has handled the endings.

Are fans of certain characters being screwed over by the ending?

I wouldn't even be surprised if such a sadistic scenario actually occured in the game.

I'll have to play the game to confirm this thought, in the end I hope I'm wrong but I think they created something they weren't able to fully master, hence the somewhat clumsy and poor writing. First and foremost the endings then the ME2 cast sidelining...
Maybe they didn't had enough the time to fully finish what they wanted to do with EA breathing down their neck craving for $$ (which could lead to some DLCs). I wouldn't have been bothered by a more delayed release date.

True, but I've pretty much prepared for the worst now. If that came to truth I'd just shrug it off and headcanon it like a bunch of other stuff I plan to do.
