I can't get over negative #2. I know it's odd for me to get hung up on that, but it's what pushes her role from character derailment I have to work around to idiocy I'm better off ignoring. They can't even tell their own story properly.

The same for me. This is just mind-numbingly bad storytelling the likes of which I really didn't expect.

@JosephDucreux:
No she doesn't talk about Niket in ME3. She just has more to say to him in ME2 than she has to say to her father in ME3.

BTW, People in Singapore can now play the game.  Opened at 23:00h local time (20 minutes ago).

It really defies all logic.

Yeah. Funny how people just get attuned to the avatar as opposed to the name. Especially when the most of the icons aren't really unique.

Doesn't happen to me. I recall names better. I usually don't even notice others' avatars.

I hear some people are playing the game. Keep us posted. I want to hear some good news - for instance that Miranda's actions and her presentation make up for the shortcomings in storytelling. Somewhat at least. And that her romance is really good and she's on Earth in the end.

All right - the information may be some time in coming

Here is the first conversation. I'll upload others as I get to them. It took me about five hours into get to this part, but I was going at a casual pace.

What can I say. That scene is really pretty good. Funny, too. And "No promises". Love it, LOL.

New information from the group:

Apparently it is not so easy to make Miranda survive her mission. It depends on several factors. I'll post what I think of that later. For currently known details visit the group. There is a topic "Making Miranda survive".

Currently, most spoiler discussion takes place in the Miranda group (link in my sig).

As far as my personal experience of the story goes, I like that it's difficult.

What I greatly resent is this: yet again, a morally grey woman (yes, she still is, even if it's understated) is destined to die in the games of most players - those who don't import and those who don't pay particular attention to her survival. This will shape collective perception. I wish it wasn't ALWAYS this type who gets this treatment. Because well, I always come to like the interesting types who cannot easily be put into one category. And they're always the first to become victims. Should it be confirmed that her death cannot be avoided in non-imported games, I'll rant more about this later. It's a berserk button issue...  And that this can be understood as a moral message makes it infinitely worse.

@strive:
Thanks, much appreciated. Comments will have to wait a few hours.

My screenshots of the 1st conversation.

Ok, my first impressions about the game : not good, as I expected. Too much auto dialog, not enough response choices during conversation : this is not "my" Shepard anymore.
The only thing I really like is the gameplay.
As for Miranda, the first conversation is great but too short and it makes me even more sad that she is not a squadmate.
The SR2 seems so empty without the ME2 squadmates, and the new ones are really poor substitutes.

Also I hate the conversations with Liara, everytime you talk to her, and even if you choose the colder response, you're acting like she's your best friend or your romance partner. Now I will talk to her only if it's necessary.

I will finish this playthrough, and maybe make an another one, but that's all.

Yeah Liara conversations are annoying, I got the paramour achievement just for kissing her on accident. My last save was like 20mins before then, so I'll just dump her next convo. that will teach me to spacebar through her conversations hah. I'm not to fond of the dreams you get either. I agree auto-dialogue is heavy. I will say though I'm really enjoying the mission design and gameplay.

Hmm. Vidcomm conversation, but at least it's almost like a personal meeting - the quality of the QEC appears to have improved. Also very short, disappointing after the first one. Content? The Oriana focus is grating, I really didn't want her to become her focus again in ME3. Otherwise not so bad, we get some insight into what she's doing and that in her situation, mere survival will be an impressive feat. There's definitely some badassery happening somewhere n the galaxy. As I said earlier, I like these hints of a parallel storyline - but such a waste that we get to see nothing of it.

A nice touch: they can't promise each other they'll be careful. And you see how it pains Shepard to admit that, but he accepts it. They're more on each other's level now. I don't know yet how the autodialogue will influence my roleplaying, but I'm seeing more of the Shepard I want to play here than in parts of ME2.

Yeah the Oriana part is annoying. I admire she wants to save her sister, but I would of rather had a different plot hook for her. I haven't even gotten one war asset from her yet. You figured you would get 5 or 15 point "various intel" assets that she would leak from Cerberus or something.

Third dialogue is up. I didn't really like it that much, my favorite is still the first one.

Eh...why didn't you get the romance scene (well, more a hint of one, but nice enough)? It should be part of this. Or did you romance someone else?

Miranda is my only romance for this Shepard. I accidently kissed Liara and had to reload 20-30mins back which sucked. But that was after that dialogue anyways. Even if I was in a love triangle someone would bring it up you would think.

Here is the fourth one. I was expecting some romance stuff. Maybe my romance flag is messed up? Although she did say "I'll see you soon".

Just got to the assumed last convo. I'm certain my romance flag has been on.

Now that I have my game and can post, I've done a little housecleaning and removed the parts of the OP that are no longer applicable. I'll be scarce for the obvious reasons, but suggestions for replacements are very welcome. I'll be adding a "survival guide" as soon as I know details.

I kind of liked Miranda's role in ME3. The romance was lacking for content, but that leaves plenty of room for head canon. The last conversation isn't mushy/romantic, but you can see they generally care about one another and their future together, so I was pleased. Sanctuary was kind of a let down. Its only saving grace is Miranda pulls clutch and advances the plot for you.

Although the thing that bothered me the most is Miranda has no character growth at all. There is literally no difference between Miranda from the end of Mass Effect 2 throughout Mass Effect 3. Unless you count her leaving Cerberus as one (which I don't because she can do that via Paragon Shepard). I didn't learn anything new about her, she still hates her father, she still loves Oriana, she still has regrets about some of her upbringing, and so on.

So....I just acquired control of the Normandy. I guess you can't see Miranda on your first visit to the Citadel, right?

Also, the comparison with other characters shows how little attention Miranda received in comparison. Team members have three or four outfits right from the start, and their conversations are so much more polished - in general, but mostly noticeable in the more natural flow of the lines regardless of which options you pick in which sequence. It's as if they put an amateur to write Miranda and a veteran of ten years to write the team members, and I bet that amateur had a lot of help with Miranda's first scene.

I won't make a final judgment before I've seen everything, but this is shaping up to be an epic disappointment. What did they think? That we wouldn't notice the negligible attention? We all feared that Miranda not being on the team would have negative consequences, but I wouldn't have imagined something like this. Less content I did expect, but not this kind of negligence.

And I haven't even started about the narrowing focus. Oriana, Oriana Oriana. It's come to the point that I want to kill her (Oriana, not Miranda). What about the state of the galaxy? What about Cerberus, the organization she used to work for and could provide valuable intel about? Not even after her mission's done does she show any care about the big picture. Who the hell is this impostor?

Will be a few days since I can't play as much as I want right now and want to finish the game before posting anything major, but yeah, tars and feathers it is.

Can I believe the character I fell for like no other in my playing history is still under there somewhere? Maybe. We'll see after I finish the game. But it shouldn't take that much effort. And that thrice-damned flashback....if they haven't fixed that in the patch I installed yesterday they'll get an extra rant just for that. How dare they not acknowledge her? Shepard's about to die and they didn't even spend the effort to include Miranda in that scene? If that turns out to be true, I can only hope I can keep myself from posting something that will get me banned.

I should add that the scenes she has do work. That's something I guess. And the basic approach to her story is sound. It's just maddening to see how little they did with it.

Man, you'd better believe it. I will get my $60 worth and then some.

Don't get me wrong. I'd much rather be able to enjoy and be happy with Miranda's role in the game. And I'm actually quite flexible and could have been pleased with any number of possibilities.

But this is not one of those.

Not only that, I've been the guy saying "wait and see" for months now. When actually the implementation is worse in many respects than I think any of us could have imagined a few months ago, back in, say, August or September.
