Though I do admit a certain fondness for the idea of a terminally ill Miranda joining Shep as the Catalyst. My favorite is still the two of them being functional immortals after Synthesis.

You know I was actually picturing the exact same thing.  What I was imagining was Shepard pulling a Dr. Manhattan and willing himself back into phsycial form.  In the new synthesized galaxy sentient beings could still be killed, leaving room for more action, but they just wouldn't die of old age any more.

Oh, when she talks about breaking in to see Shepard.

"Yes, all fun and games until the Alliance arrested me or just shot me on sight."

"Finish this...and find me."
"No promises."
"I know...bastard."
"I can't promise that, Shepard. Could you?"

And I really like the romanced death scene, unfortunate line aside.

Yes, I think the word that would most acuratelly describe Miranda in ME3 is "Unfinished".
You have the recipe for, if not a good, at least a satisfactory role. Multiple conversations that span across all arcs, a Priority mission, strong ties to one of the mains antagonists, romance scene, multiple death scenes. And then it fails just short of delivering.

The pieces could add up to something good, if the focus were different and the implementation better. Basically: give Miranda something to do besides be a victim/barely avoid being a victim, make her survival significant (+ a better romance scene, ideally).

And all the pieces are there. We need to assault TIM's base. We have a former squad member who's been to TIM's base. This wasn't rocket science.

Does anyone have a succinct list of things pissed you off about Miranda's romance in ME3?

I only have a few:

1) The 'romance scene' conversation could have been about a thousand other things, and instead, it was about that memory chip, a dead and resolved bit of information from ME2.
2) Wanted to see more of her, damn it.
3) They really didn't have to shamelessly recycle her ME2 outfit. Did they spend all the ME2 character design money on Jack for ME3?

Permission provided, I'll post some points on the Protest ME2 LI Treatment in ME3 facebook page.

Also, if you haven't gone yet, the link is in my signature.

What I don't understand is why they made her 2IC and did nothing with it. That makes a confrontation logically necessarily and makes it plausible she could contribute in a way a cell leader couldn't. She needed to be like Mordin or Legion, at least. I would have even settled for her taking Brynn's role.

I was okay with the romance. Loads better than ME2.

Well, general consensus tends to be that the romance content for Miranda (what there is of it) is actually the most enjoyable part of her appearance in ME3, as the tone of it is improved in certain respects, when compared to ME2, and there are some really nice exchanges.

So, the main points would simply be that there isn't very much of it, and the romance scene is... barely implemented.

Other than that, a lot of the main complaints with Miranda's role in the game lie outside of the romance.

I guess one could add that the rather half-ass implementation of the romance + the fact that breaking up with Miranda makes her death inevitable is a combination that seems kind of gratuitous and stupid.

She did tear apart Sanctuary on her own. That's worth a few points.

Update for all you Synthesis lovers who choose the green path. :-) My brother's EMS rating 7000+ with multi-player galactic readiness at 100%... wait for it... Shepard walks out of the Normandy alive.! WTF

I'm working on the earth part to see the destroy ending if it's any different. Don't know yet. I have 100% readiness and almost 8k with the N7 special ops you get from multi-player added. Each lvl 20 character you get from Multi-player = roughly 75 points for that team, "character" you promote for your war assets. No idea if Miranda pops out or not he wasn't romancing her... I think it was Ash or Liara he romance will ask him again.

Well, there are still some details of the role that make it seem like content was jettisoned and ideas were dumped, perhaps due to pressure to finish the game. That is one of them. Another is the early suggestion that she may join up once her personal matter is resolved.

It's incredibly irritating, actually.

I have a hard time believing this considering its been weeks since the game was released and this is the first I've heard of such a thing occurring.

Where's this line from? I don't remember getting it.

As for Miranda's role, it seems like there's something waiting to be added. The SB email with Miranda leading a fighter squadron / commando team made up of ex-Cerberus agents is awesome, it also could explain Miranda's "I'm here to talk to a few people" line during the first conversation. It would also help to explain why Shepard doesn't ask Miranda to join him after the Sanctuary mission.

It almost seems like they were planning something, ran out of time or resources and just shipped the game with what they had. This seems to be the case with a lot of what happens after Sanctuary, they hit a crunch and it shows. ME3 really could use a director's cut version similar to what CD Projekt did with The Witcher, go back do what you want to do and then offer it as a patch or free DLC.

Well, I have 8094 EMS and 94-96% galactic readiness... I'll report back once I'm finished. I'll just have to remember to snag the autosave file, rename it and put it back in to re-do the last parts of the mission before the dreaded red beam of ****tiness :)

It's the second conversation in the spectre office. I got that line.    If your fast you can call her twice and tell her that you can't get distracted.  She goes.  "I know."

Yes. Also if she is unloyal, if you don't warn her about Leng, don't trust her with the Alliance resources, don't pass a persuade check or take an interrupt, or if you choose to stand idly in one place for more than 30 seconds at any point throughout the game.

I'm kidding about one of those factors Image IPB

Lol. I expected some consequence if any ME2 character was unloyal, but death if she gets dumped?

Thanks for the information.

Yeah I remember saying the bolded part to myself during my first run.

As for a director's cut version, that would have been awesome but unfortunately I think it would be hard to sell this to EA's shareholders.

I'm very much looking forward to the Witcher 2 enhanced edition (which is out next month).

Someone at Bioware really wanted Miranda dead.

Still, her death scene if romanced is nothing to shy away from. She caresses his face, they declare their love for each other and share one last kiss. Shepard even finally makes a promise and talks to Oriana.

Joker: Alright, this isn't so bad. Stuck in paradise for the rest of our days.

Shepard: It doesn't make any sense, we were knocked out of the Relay's corridor. We should be in the dead zone between star clusters, but we're on a habitable world. I wasn't even on the Normandy when you entered the relay.

Joker: So, we're alive and in one piece. Bit glowy now thanks to that Synth-thing you did but that's alright. Right EDI?

EDI: The Commander raises a valid point Jeff, the odds of us landing on a habitable planet that isn't connected to the Relay network is incredibly low. The fact that the Commander is in the same location as we are without entering a relay is statistically impossible.

Shepard: For all we know we could just be dead, in some sort of Reaper simulation, or something else.

Joker: Well if I see any polar bears or fog monsters roaming the jungle I'll be sure to let you know.
