While that's true, that's actually the problem quite a few of us have with the whole thing. As you say, she goes there for Oriana, and isn't really thinking about anything else prior to that.
She does deal with the situation once she's there, but then, she isn't really thinking about anything else once it's over either, which makes even less sense at that point, because Oriana is safe/daddy is dead.
To me, it's simply not a credible turn of events. She's found out that TIM, her former boss, has sold out her sister to her father, so that he can run a death camp, thus perverting everything she has ever worked for or believed in. And that doesn't require her continued attention?
Anyway, I think we agree that Miranda's role feels unfinished for that reason. What I'm saying is: the logs don't really address the essential problem with how this is written.

Yes, agreed. Sorry
It's just that this aspect of Miranda's appearance in ME3 is like nails on a chalkboard for me.
I get irritated just thinking about it

There's nothing more to do with Miranda. We should just use our imagination to fill all the loose ends, or just play ME2 and pretend that ME3 never happened.
I still don't get how they missed to address her past with Cerberus, the organization that built her persona for 20 years.

Very true, and a new way for me to look at it. Before I stress that Miranda worked to take down Cerberus prior to the complications with Oriana. Not anymore.MisterJB wrote...
There's something I think we have neglected in our distress and disapointment. Miranda's logs on Sanctuary are all good. Their quality pales in comparision with most of ME2 but she sounds determined not to protect Oriana but to save those refugees and to take down her father and Cerberus. For instance, she leaves evidence of their dealings behind for someone else to find in case she perishes.
edit: Looking foward to see more of your work, Asakawa.
Once Miranda discovered Sanctuary, I think she saw something that was far more important than Oriana. The facility needed to be taken down, and outsiders needed to be warned. I think Miranda learned that she can't keep focusing on Oriana and saving Oriana while the real dangers lie outside of her sister. Oriana will never be safe if those dangers persist (not just their father, but Cerberus, the Reapers, etc). And I think Miranda finally came to that conclusion.
That doesn't sound too coherent, for me at least. I'm tired, but I thought I'd put my two cents in anyway

@bold- I've already began on that.
Placing Miranda into the story and then ignoring Cerberus is an even more obvious mistake than omitting the fact that EDI is an AI.
It's just... impossible, yet they actually managed to do it. Bioware's writing team deserves a medal.

My idea for a happy(ish) ending with what little bioware gave us is this
(Summary of idea)
Shepard is taking to a make shift hospital
Miranda is there searching for Shepard
She finds Shepard unconscious and takes control of the situation and personally oversees Shepard
She does everything she can to get him back to how he was (even some operations to replace broken synthetics parts where needed)
a few days later Shepard wake up and spots instantly Miranda sleeping next to his bed side with her hands wrapped around your right hand.
Shepard strokes her hair with his only hand free (even though its hurting to move)
Miranda wakes up and doubles checks she is not seeing things and instantly hugs and kisses him
Miranda - 'thank God your alive, it was killing me seeing you in this shape'
Shepard - 'appears I have you to thank for saving my life again'
Miranda - 'couldn't let you die on me, after everything we have been through'
Shepard - 'of course not you gave me a second chance'
Miranda - 'third chance actually'
Shepard - 'third chance and I do not plan on wasting this opportunity'
Miranda - 'what you going to do?'
Shepard - 'considering neither of us have to run from anything anymore, I was wondering if you would want to try to living a normal life with me'
Miranda - 'you certain you want to start a normal life?'
Shepard - 'I am certain I have spent my entire life fighting and first time in my life I have something... someone I want to hold on to for the rest of my life.... so is it as a yes or a ...'
Miranda interrupts by kissing Shepard
Miranda - 'does that answer your question'
Shepard - 'yes it does'
what do you guys think of the idea or is it something that needs work?
Sounds promising! I like, although, I don't think Miranda and Shepard will have a 'normal' life but one full of adventure and lots and lots of covert missions and well, lots of sex. <3

Let me be frank, the Miranda death scene (all of them) are difficult to watch of course. But I'm not going to let it go much further than that. Especially since a lot of my family are starting to drift into their elder years. Not much left there, and it will only be a matter of time, so. Yeah.

Yes, they could have done more than just "I'm going after my sister"
Unfinished role? Yes, that's why I gave my ideas on how they could have expanded on it if they had time. And see, now I have another idea about this part of the story that I can expand on.

Dear god, no. If that ever sees the light of day, it will be the day I forsake Mass Effect as my favorite SciFi franchise and go back to *shudder* Star Wars.
I just really want the game to end with something that makes some sense. If Mass Shift is really what they plan to do with the universe their better off just killing the series off.
I've seen "a" video of something flying around but no clue what this Mass **** err Shift is...

The only joy I get is watching the Miranda videos over and over again but really it is just Loyalty mission 2.0 but it's still beautiful voice acting by both Meer and Yvonne.. the best yet!!! He really is a good "boyfriend" I just wished they freaking KISSED!!!!
SOME display of affection. Miranda nearly died, and Shepard had to come in and save her, yet all he gets is "I have to go now Shepard, thanks for helping me and Oriana. See you later".
All he gets is 3 seconds of hand-holding. The hell kind of payoff is that?

It was probrably intentional. Kelly Chambers had a very good conversation with Shepard where she related her own story of how she willingly joined Cerberus long before the Suicide Mission and even goes so far as to question their decision of leaving the organization. That was removed from the game.Skullheart wrote...

Hell, Kai Leng actually tried to justify their actions at Sanctuary in the leaked script. He claimed that those refugees would have all died anyway, Cerberus made something useful out of them and that Shepard (in case you destroyed the CB) should have trusted TIM (it was a variation of the "Cerberus thanks you for all your hard work" line). Bloody Kai Leng! And that was removed! Now he is nothing more than a Dragon for Shepard to kill.
Someone high ranked at Bioware really did not want anything gray at all to remain in Cerberus and Miranda was always one of it's grayest members so, inevitably, her characterization suffered for it.
I fear what will happen to Oleg Petrovsky when Bioware, inevitably, releases the "Retake Omega" DLC.

That's when we needed a P/R interruption. Shepard wrapping his arms around Miranda's waist and giving her a hard kiss, she melting on site.

Well they should have in her apartment, then! She does kiss him on the cheek. That was cute. I loved that scene when she asks if she's still part of Shepards plan. My favorite scene and the "losing" control part was really good.
