I just wished they freaking KISSED!!!!

Miranda is a private person. She didn't want to kiss Shepard in front of her sister.
And anyone else Shepard might have brought along.

Well they should have in her apartment, then!  She does kiss him on the cheek.  That was cute.  I loved that scene when she asks if she's still part of Shepards plan. My favorite scene and the "losing" control part was really good. :)   The parts where Miranda looks directly at you, the player, was clever.

She kisses him on the cheek? Where?

The first meeting near the normandy docking..  Shepard tells Miranda he always wants her in his life.  Miranda asks if he wants to back out, last chance etc... Miranda smiles and leans in to kiss him.

first talk on citadel

That was a kiss on the cheek? The camera panned behind her head, obscuring it from view. It could have been an awkward hug for all I know.

that wasn't a hug. The camera didn't show much anyway.

One thing that I took notice of after Mr. Lawson's death is Shepard's line "You can finally stop running." In the last discussion Shepard says "Things will change, but they'll be on our terms".

The romance in 3 really strikes me as being Miranda and Shepard working towards a point where there won't be suicide missions to launch, wars to fight, or some doom hovering over their heads. They want to be together but they both have duties and expectations placed upon them that keep them apart.

I thought Miranda was the one that said "we can stop running away" at Sanctuary?

Probably is, my mind is all jumbled when it comes to lines in ME3.

I thought I was the only one. I know for certain Shepard says it in London... but I'm fairly certain Miranda says it at Sanctuary.

She says it on Sanctuary:

Miranda: It's finally over, for both of us. We can stop running.
Shepard: Yes, you can.

OK, here's my thoughts on how things could have been different with Miranda and TIM's base (yeah, it's long I get it)
***content of long post on page 1746 snipped***

So sad to read about what could've been. :(

Really nice ideas though. Would you mind reposting them in the group? Here it will all be lost in the flurry of posts.

Heaven forbid Bioware wanted us to romance someone who isn't Ashley/Kaidan or Liara, or favor someone who isn't Tali or Garrus.

Given how things go, I'd restrict the favored status to LIara. It's really appalling.

Does anyone else get the feeling there were major internal fights about Cerberus' portrayal?

I do. The amount of cut dialogue - and especially the pattern of what was cut - sends its own message. Unfortunately, the traditionalists and the people in favor of cheap clichés won. I wonder what would've happened had the DA team made ME3. No Bioware game has ever been exactly subtle in its portrayal of pretty much everything - they always use extremes - but the DA games have two-faced factions and characters.

There is some tacit acknowledgment that Cerberus changed to become what it is in ME3. You see it in all the "Ex-Cerberus" war assets whose representatives are basically decent people like Brynn Cole. But then they destroy that two-faced image with the video logs on TIM's base which basically says you can't have an agenda like TIM's without being evil. Hmph.

Now, I don't even think we'll see her. I guess our loving reunion between them will happen only in our dreams.

*barely optimistic* Maybe they'll do more than explaining the endings. Frankly, I don't want it explained, I want it gone, changed. Then there'll be a glimmer of hope.

The loving reunion *should* happen in our dreams...or stories. I don't mind the ending being open in personal matters. Between scenarios like jtav's (which is very close to my own) and a standard happy family ending there are just too many preferences to account for everyone's. it's the big picture I find appalling.

I want the current ending choices to stay. But I want explanations of why "the problem" is inevitable, a fourth option and an opportunity to challenge the starchild. And epilogue scenes where people are re-building. And a description of the Synthesis that makes some f******* sense, damn it.

@jtav:
I've read your teaser. Nice.

One does wonder what Matt's reaction to Miranda does to the hardware his consciousness currently rests in . And mentioning a nervous system is....odd...because strictly spoken he hasn't got one at the moment.

Been reading over much of this thread. Wanted to chime in. I love Miranda. I don't like how her character was used in ME3, wish it had been done differently. Wanted her as a squadmate. Sigh.

ideas for other cards? Shep is King of Spades, of course!

That's a really good idea. Miranda as Queen of Spades is perfect!

Other cards? Let's see.... Hmm...actually I'd give Shepard another card.

Shepard - King of Clubs (the inspired leader. He doesn't really fit the King slot, but since normal playing cards have no Knights this must do)
TIM - King of Spades (the other type of leader, ruled more by intellect than inspiration. Also goes well with the ruthlessness)
Ashley - Queen of Clubs (Fire to Miranda's ice)
Anderson - King of Hearts
Dr.Chakwas - Queen of Hearts or Queen of Diamonds
Samantha - Jack of Spades

Thinking of more....

Agreed, I don't like people (especially when they are Godlike) with tautological reasoning. This kid needs to be grounded :P

So i have been thinking/ speculating..
In the first conversation, Miranda mentions that the Illusive man told her "it was a pleasure doing business," but he "needed to contain the situation." Shepard responds that that sounds "final." Miranda mentions that it "nearly was, the Illusive Man does not take rejection lightly."

So what we have here is that Miranda met the Illusive Man. We can probably speculate that she told him everything and everywhere Cerberus went wrong, (of course off screen because actually having that scene On screen is just lunacy...) It sounds like the Illusive man had some troops there to "contain the situation." Perhaps he offered her a chance to come back to Cerberus, perhaps he set up an ambush, fully intending to contain the situation.

There is a chance that Kai Leng was there as well to contain the situation. When Miranda hears of Kai Leng from Shepard, she calls him a "slippery bastard" and asks if he is "still alive." When I heard that line I looked around trying to find evidence that Kai Leng would have been presumed dead but I cannot seem to find any. (if you have any sources please let me know) What this may imply is that, given the 1st paragraph of my post, perhaps Kai Leng was sent to contain the situation, perhaps with assault troopers who knows, but Miranda got the upper hand or managed to escape , but when she left she thought Kai Leng was dead. This could eb a number of things from the place where the fight took place exploding, to Miranda knocking him off a cliff, to Kai Leng running away and Miranda blowing up the location, to Miranda beating him but thinking she killed him. That is why she is surprised when she hears he was still alive.

All of this is purely speculation but it is possible, given the "contain the situation," and Miranda wondering how Kai Leng was still alive.

tldr: Given the 1st and 2nd dialogues with Miranda one can speculate that TIM set up an ambush for Miranda. It is possible that Kai Leng was there, after the conflict Miranda believes Kai Leng was dead. Unfortunately this is all done off screen...

This, if true sets up a new angle on the Kai Leng vs Miranda scene.

thanks for the insight, Ieldra! =)
I like your suggestions! And even though i'm not a fan of Jack, she earns a Jack card, totally and not totally pun-intended!

Dr. Chakwas as Queen of Diamonds is perfect!
What about Liara? Queen of Hearts? =x

edit - TIM is a villain, a respected yet feared leader, but also a wild card, from 'support' in ME2 to all that Cerberus has become in ME3 and all that talk you guys were having for the past few days. Mel gave the suggestion of having him as a Joker card. What do you think?

Leng has faced death numerous times. Most prominently when Anderson shot him in the legs with a Shotgun and left him to rot in one o f the novels.

I think Joker would be a decent Joker.

As for TIM, I'd make him clubs.

The RGB needs to be completely obliterated from existence. There is not a single part of anything that happens after Anderson dies that I find acceptable. I needed to say that because there was still talk of the endings. Oh and one final off-topic question? What's Mass Shift?

Now back to Miranda. There's no reason she and Shepard can't have a personal "home life" while still being important vital people to the galaxy. They don't need to retire but neither do they need to spend all their time on the battlefield.

Oh and to whoever brought up the MGS4 ending- could not agree with you more. In typical Hideo Kojima fashion it took hours of cutscenes and dialogue to actually end but it was damn satisfying when it did.

Also love the playing card ideas. I'm pretty sure there's already ME playing cards but I'm not sure who's what. Anyway my picks would be:
Shepard: Ace of Spades
Miranda: Queen of Spades
Joker: self-explanatory.
Kasumi: Also a joker. Humorous, bit of a wild card, it's the best fit.

Ignorance is bliss. Be thankful you don't yet know.

I like to think it wouldn't be too difficult to balance.
