"I'll always want you in my life." Miranda Lawson in Mass Effect 3

As for Miranda dying, the sad truth is you can't spend two hours building up a suicide mission in a linear narrative and have nobody die. It needs to be someone the audience cares about, a major character. Like, say, the XO Shepard comes to grudgingly respect. Garrus or whoever is Shepard's buddy could work, but Miranda is the obvious choice.

And what jtav said about Miranda dying in the SM, she's right. Miranda the most logical character to die there if we need someone to die.
Garrus is needed to die in ME3 (to make a sad shepard, loosing his sidekick), that should keep Garrus safe from the SM.
Miranda needs to die in ME2, she's escential just in ME2 (let's face it, she doesn't do anything essential in ME3).

I didn't take many Renegade options during my first ME3 playthrough (didn't want to risk alienating potential allies), but at that part, there was absolutely no way I was going to take the Paragon option.Yannkee wrote...
Finally found a video with the renegade option during the sanctuary scene : I prefer this one. Paragon Shepard is too kind with this bastard.
When importing from ME2, do you automatically have a high enough rep bar to have all the Paragon/Renegade dialogue options available? I don't remember there being any that I couldn't take.

I to go the renegade route for Sanctuary against Mr. Lawson. I do tend to go either way depending upon the crew and who it is. Sometimes Shep ****es at Joker or become rough (renagade) to be the commander who demands everyone be on their toes. I always go paragon with Miranda... except the kiss (me2) and no promises for the hug.
In the speech on earth, I did soldiers, and then the two paragons. I cried because it moved me emotionally. *shakes head*
Hackett's speech was also good.

The dub can be good, even faithful to the original, but never intense as the original. Actors are chosen for a purpose. Otherwise they could cast anyone.
Miranda <-> Yvonne
Period.

Actually, I don't think jtav's reasoning there is sound. It's more likely that Miranda would survive the SM and complete her character arc as the femme fatale in the third installment by being the one who eventually hands Shepard Cerberus. If the director were really following the cliché to the letter (which is actually not guaranteed), then she might die while accomplishing this, because that is one version of the cliché.
In a linear narrative, Miranda would be essential in ME3, because she would allow Shepard to find TIM's base/kill Leng. (The need for a substitute due to the SM is misleading, as there would be no need for this in a movie).
In point of fact, Miranda does survive the SM in a default ME3 (while other characters, such as Jack and Thane, do not). So, if a movie followed this, the squad would probably be decimated, but Shepard and Miranda would likely survive, along with Garrus/sidekick equivalent(s). A movie would have to make cuts and simplify, of course, so I doubt there would be as many characters to begin with.

I think Mass Effect 1 could have been adapted for film quite well given how the story flows and having a visible and strong antagonist in Saren - less so ME 2 unless the audience wants to watch a lot of loyalty missions
OK so they could just recruit the team and skip the loyalty stuff.
Oh and Olivia Wilde would be fine for Miranda for me. As a game character despite having an actress' features and voice it wouldn't be a dealbreaker. Makes me think of how James Bond or Doctor Who changes - fine with me

It's funny the fact that Miranda survives in a default game. She survives, but she isn't loyal = shepard never talks to her and she dies.
Actually, all of the dialogues except the last one take place (or can take place).
A lot of characters are just dead in the default, though I'm not going to be able to remember them all off the top of my head. Wrex, Thane and Jack are among them. Grunt as well, I think.

And if I were novelizing ME, Miranda would get a much bigger role. Make her not just rejected by her father, but actively denied her birthright. She'd get an entire subplot about confronting Henry. The last we'd see of her is sitting behind his desk. The king is dead. Long live the queen.
I'd pay money to read this

Yeah, I've always like that idea, or variations of it.

There was this guy on ff.net novelising ME2 and doing an AWESOME job at it, but I haven't seen an update in quite some time. Sad, the author was super talented and captured all the characters beautifully.

It's funny in a sad way how they made Miranda a rejected heir not once but twice and did nothing with it. Especially since her being "heir" to Cerberus and supplanted by Leng is a retcon.
Well, I don't think that's really accurate because she wasn't rejected in either case: she chose to leave. "I wasn't the first one he created, I was just the first one he kept." Her father didn't want her to leave. And of course leaving Cerberus is her call.
So, with that in mind, I think Miranda returning to claim the throne in either case *could* work, but her doing something else entirely works as well. That's why the "Cerberus Renegade" idea is really just as good as TIW. Also doing something humanitarian/altruistic with Lazarus.
Really, if she were doing what she is doing in the post-Sanctuary mail throughout the game, and we got to do a mission or two with her in that capacity, then everything else could pretty much remain as is, and that would be fine, especially if we got the sense that she had bigger things in mind for later on (after the war). But even just leading her own team against TIM/the Reapers would do the job.
But I need to *see* that, not just see it referred to in a text message.

*sigh* I'd gladly pay for a Cut-scene pack DLC just to see this

Yeah, I used to post here waaay back in the day when we first started these threads, (the old LOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE threads) that's how I found out about LuxDragon. But college pulled me away from the forums, and since I'm taking a lesser load this year it's nice to be back on this thread.
