Okay well Casey Hudson said that he'd be focusing on a smaller squad and whatnot ay?

So I'm thinking 6-8?

Running through the spots:

-Ashley/Kaiden
-Garrus
-Tali
-Liara
-Vega

Room for maybe three more? So perhaps another new member (which I personally think would be a waste of a spot but plausible) and two more ME2 characters?

I'm hoping that Vega is the only new member. Honestly, my hope is that he's ME3's Jenkins/Wilson, but realistically he'll probably be permanent, as well as being your first 'second' squaddie (with the VS being your first squaddie).

I think we're going to see squaddie 'hubs', where at each hub you have a set of missions to do and a set of extra squaddies to choose from in addition to your 'core' group, whoever that may be. I imagine Miranda will be on one of those hubs, likely Cerberus-related.

Of course any squaddie, whether permanent or hub-enabled, will still need opportunities to advance the romance. NO idea how they're going to pull that one off...

How do you reckon the temporary squad mates thing is going to work? I mean obviously I understand that it means you will only have certain squad mates for certain missions. But considering just how many temporary squad mates you'll be able to (or at least should be able to) have in ME3, won't it kind of detract from when you can actually use the people in your core squad?

I'm hoping he is the only new one too.
The way I see it they redesigned the VS to show them off as 'new' to those who just got into the ME series with 3 (which I hate but not much can be done about that).

Vega is just...there...I don't have much to say on him.  He's not the Jenkins/Wilson that you might hope him to be Marshal.  Especially with the AA pack showing his alternate outfit.

^ Yeah I agree. Which is where my "Miranda being a permanent squad member" theory comes into play. As I think she has the best chance of all ME2 characters to return, realistically as well she is one of the only one's that offers a character relevant enough to the plot to help drive it.
Others being:
Legion (I assume will act as somewhat of a Geth ambassador?)
Mordin (will most likely act as a crew member?)
Jacob (just simply not as important to the story as Miranda)

I expect it to be similar to Kingdom Hearts. You'll have your core squad comprised of people like the VS, Liara, etc. And then, you'll have temporary squdmates that will join Shepard only on certain locations. You go to Sur'Kesh, you have Mordin/Wrex. You go to Tuchanka, you get Grunt. You go to Thessia, Samara. Rannoch, Legion.
Fortunately, Cerberus will appear on many different planets so perhaps Miranda will be one of the core squadmates.

Something I just realized. Miranda was meant to survive until the biotic bubble stage of the SM. Why? because there are factors that can come into play whereby you can end up with just her as the biotic.

No armor = Jack dead
Never recruited Thane (Zaeed instead)
Never recruited Samara (Kasumi instead)
Jacob can die before biotic bubble event.

That leaves Miranda. Developers had to keep her alive not only for dialogue but more importantly because you need to have a biotic for The Long Walk stage.

Yes, but I think the fact that they chose Miranda to be the one that makes all the speeches, has to be there for the biotic bubble etc... means that they valued her over all the other characters. Which should mean that she has a bigger role to play and a better chance of being a permanent squaddie over all the other characters.

But hopefully I haven't seriously fallen victim to wishful thinking

Oh, and MisterJB. Manip completely failed to annoy. Make it a FemShep, and I can use it for Persistence.

Best hope for for Miranda is that she's most used, least killed, and designed to be so.

Yeah, if she is loyal she cannot die, Shepard can die even. Which says something.

I actually did a run through once (just to test) whereby my Shep romanced her but at the very end he ended up dying because I didn't have another squadmate alive...how sad.

I've always thought of Miranda as Yvonne Strahovski (for obvious reasons) and Jack as Natalie Portman. So maybe you could just say a toss up between those two? I pick Miranda every time personally.

Strangely, I find Miranda far more attractive than Strahovski (granting good lighting). I think it's my love for her personality. Or the deep blue eyes/pale skin/dark hair combination.

I'm a sucker for blondes, but I would agree the current engine they use does hair bad, and does blonde hair really bad, so I think I would like her in game better as a brunette.

I think Yvonne is much prettier than her "import" onto Miranda.. It could be the blonde hair though IDK.

Yeah Bioware initially had her as a blonde but ditched that and made her a brunette.
Somthing about it not going well with her outfit.
