Yeah, the ending is a hot mess. The worst problem is the hardest to fix: it betrays the themes of the story. We're shown repeatedly that synthetics aren't that different from organics and that peace and even friendship are possible only for the game to go "Nope" in the last five minutes. And then you get to the nihilism. Everything you did is pointless because your friends are always stranded and civilization always falls. Shepard dying doesn't bother me. The game spitting on everything I did does.

If Shepard died in every scenario, that would bother me, just like any other characters actually. In such a game you should always have the opportunity to make your choices matter and not be compelled or feel powerless regarding the plot.

Before the endings you were used to resolve whatever problem you had with logical and rational reasoning and now it's gone for some reason : How can I pick such a drastic choice, it was introduced to me only a minute ago and it is unclear in itself and in its consequences. I can't use proper reasoning anymore, I'm forced to guess.

I'm still curious to find out what the writers will do about explaining the endings but what's done is done, I don't think much will change.

Pretty much I expected this:

Saren: I told you that submission was preferable to extinction.

Shepard: I defeated the Reapers though.

Saren: You also single handedly destroyed the Mass Relay network. Nice job breaking it hero.

Killing the player's avatar no matter what seems like a bad idea to me.

Mostly I expect some effort to fill plot holes and explain what happens to characters, etc.

The other thing they might try, I guess, that would be more extreme, would be adding an ending. But... that could get very ridiculous very quickly. So they're probably better off cutting their losses and just accepting the sad reality.

Is it wrong that I'm terrified they'll mention Miranda?

Am I the only one that headcannons that when Liara takes over Miranda's old cabin Shepard gets nervous because of what has happened in that cabin? Like she KNOWS that he and Miranda have done things in that cabin. Even when Shepard didn't romance Liara, it's like both Ashley and Liara both know that Shepard and Miranda have had relations in so many parts on the Normandy.... Or am I the only one who thinks like that? :P

Just a reminder everyone. If ya want to make your voice heard about how you think Miranda's romance went in ME3 (for my part, I wish they'd have given her a new outfit, and maybe not focused the one romance scene on that mind-control chip) PM me or post here!

http://social.biowar...ndex/10853184/4

I've only got 3 letters about Miranda so far! I know there's got to be at least a few more people on this thread with something to say!

Passionate, but polite! What did you like, what didn't you like? Were your expectations met regarding how you last saw her character in ME2? How do you think she was portrayed in ME3?

Deadline for letters is Thursday 9 PM (EST). Gotta PM it to me or post on the above thread by then so I can be sure it gets printed out!!

I'm fine with having the option to have Shepard die, he's cheated death multiple times but has finally reached the end of the road.

What I'm less of a fan of is that it seems like we save the galaxy from destruction by the Reapers only to condemn them to a slow death through the destruction of the relays. Heck, in my cannon playthrough the Batarians, Quarians, and Geth are gone the Krogan still have the Genophage and most of remaining galactic civilization is either stuck on isolated colonies or is in the Sol system. Pretty much I've successfully ushered in a grim, dark future for the rest of the galaxy

I was expecting someone like Tywin Lannister.

Henry is so not Tywin Lannister. So not. But in all fairness, he was given very little screentime with which to impress us.

Hah! Another one for the Charles Dance camp then. But yeah Lawson had absolutely no impact as a character. The terror of Miranda's and Oriana's very existence? The instrument of Cerberus controlled indoctrination? Nope. This guy looks like he's about to hand you a memo.

jtav, this is why I was asking how you would change it without denying it. Because these ideas of a completely ruthless and domineering Lawson who is never at a loss, a magnificent bastard if you will definitely do contradict what we see in game. Basically you'd need to excuse his blandess in-game somehow in order to reconcile it with the threatening villain he's supposed to be.

Not so much Liara as Javik:

Shepard: How goes the tour of the ship?

Javik: I visited the engine room.

Shepard: I'm sure Adams was interested in your opinion on our propulsion technology.

Javik: You fail to understand I visited the engine room.

Shepard: I can explain!

Javik: There is no need Commander. If you excuse me I must go  wash my hands...thoroughly.

Mostly I do deny. LOTSB and ME3 Miranda are now firmly in the discontinuity bin. But I like Henry. I think they did a good job creating someone who could plausibly be Miranda's father.

I don't know wether or not it's wrong but to some extent it makes sense.
On one hand, I'd be glad to know what's next for her and also if possible to have what's terribly missing to the romance, a conclusion, a hint of a brighter future for them.
On the other hand the conclusion might not be pleasant to see.

Do not agree. At all. But I don't think getting into that discussion again is necessary at this point. Hmm. I'll have to find another way. It's not a priority though. First I need to make sure my endings work and account for what's needed. Then it's off to "fix" Kasumi.

Though to be honest I'm still feeling powerless to actually circumvent all this bull****. I have my endings more or less clear yet I still can't force myself to pick up ME3 again. I also started rewatching Chuck and totally couldn't get into the first couple of episodes (the pilot especially) because I know what happens at the end of season 5. It's like the will's there but the limbs still aren't moving.

I admit, that was classic.

As far as Ashley and Liara knowing about Thomas & Miranda, I don't give a damn what they think about it. I'm unapologetic about it and regret nothing. After all, it's not like I cheated on either of them with her. I also have Sheps who romance each of them anyway and stay loyal (outside of the fling with Kelly to ensure her survival in ME3- Thomas was the only one of my 4 Sheps who haven't or won't do so and *that* does kind of bother me that I couldn't save her on one playthrough).

lol

For my own part I think most of the sexy times happened in Shepard's cabin. More private, more ameneties. Though I don't doubt  *insert sex euphenism here* happened in Miranda's cabin a few times as well.

Most definitely CC :P

Javik must have been extremely surprised by his discovery in the Engine Room though. "Those Humans have strange sexual rituals"

Not to mention the debriefing room :P, cargo bay,  but mostly Shep's room and Miranda. HAH!

I do agree with you about not wanting to pick up and play ME 3 again.  I've only play through once!  I've redone a few missions with different people to see if they had any interesting banter... not much else.
Don't know how some of you are playing through 2 - 7 times already.  :(

I've only completed the game twice. It's sad but I won't touch SP again, not until the endings get further explanations. I just can't, it's too disheartening.

I've played with 7 Sheps. After the third, no Shepard spoke with the crew anymore. Never visited Miranda's office (for me it will always be Miranda's office, not Liara's room). The only guys he spoke to were Gaby and Ken, for some reason the engine room is his favorite place on the Normandy.

My Shepard become an antisocial human, I blame Bioware for not giving him the crew he wanted.

On the other side he will miss just two people of the Normandy crew, he doesn't give a crap about the rest when they land on Gilligan's planet xD.
