Published the first chapter of my post-ME3 story. Maybe I can scrap something together from the turd ball Bioware handed us. Will update my signature when the document finishes upload.

I was the one who suggested that as a possible death scenario back in November. I still think it would be a good one. I keep wondering why they didn't use such an obvious setup with anyone.jtav wrote...
Can you imagine that as her failure state? Begging Shep to kill her before the voices in her head grow too loud *shudder*

This is a nice scene you're imagining. A steel pipe wouldn't do it, and it would not be her style, but why shouldn't she have something that can block a phantom's blade. Like, say, a phantom's blade?CrutchCricket wrote...
Wait a minute, weren't we speculating about fencing a while ago? So there you have it. Miranda grabs a pipe, a piece of steel, something that can block Leng's sword and counters it that way. Shields/barriers for protection from his gun, other biotics to gain the upper hand. And she keeps moving, always.
Also, Kai Leng may be tougher and stronger, but it's plausible that Miranda is more agile. Thane was almost his match, and while he was well-trained, he was not genetically improved. What wouldn't I've given to see that fight.
But we don't get to see it. Instead....speculation for everyone......

I'd pick EDI and Javik as survivors and sacrifice the rest to have Miranda back.Skullheart wrote...
From the squad, I would glady sacrifice: Vega, Liara, EDI, Garrus and Tali just to have Miranda at my side. VS and Javik no. The vs was already margined during in ME2, and Javik is the only worthy character from the squad.

The newest version of Gibbed's savegame editor can edit ME2 character loyalty flags. However, I don't know if they will work unless you start a new game from the edited save.jtav wrote...
Anyone know if you can edit flags so Miranda survives a default game?

Tbh, I think it's more like: "We realize we have embarrassed ourselves with this ending, but we can't change it too much without embarrassing ourselves further. Please accept this free DLC as an apology and hopefully desist in transforming ME3 into a permanent punchline in popular culture. We have to talk about artistic integrity, because otherwise it would seem like we are admitting that we screwed the pooch big time on this one."CrutchCricket wrote...
Bioware will take the time to explain to us ****** fans why their ending is so awesome. They are gracious enough to not charge us for the "honor".
Indeed. That's exactly how I interpret it. I wonder what's so wrong with admitting they screwed up.

Well, the problem is how everyone would react to that. I mean, it would be like an official statement that said, "The ending of our game sucks." That's about as likely as an official statement saying "Our game sucks."
Also, while the ending fiasco has been embarrassing, caving in completely would also cover the company in lasting ridicule, while not necessarily improving things much. Good endings are actually difficult. That's why so often they are unsatisfying (Lost, nuBSG, just to name two other recent examples).

Seconded.
I believe that it is professional pride which makes it hard for them to admit they screwed up big time. But well, when you're a professional you should also know how to correct you mistakes and they apparently started doing it. This DLC won't probably be much of what we really want but it is still a (little) step forward, I'd give them that much.

I believe that she survives if you cheat. IMO that's worth metagaming a little.jtav wrote...
I am finally importing my Shep that had a ME1 romance. Keeping in mind Shep doesn't have a strategy guide handy and is going off reasonably foreseen consequences, is it better to cheat on Miranda or break up?

Who are you thinking of cheated with?
And asking Traynor for some exercise on the bed. Boy, that was hilarious watching Shepard stumble and make an ass of himself. Reloaded.
Not even going to touch the reporter girl. Creeped him the hell out. Still don't like how Cortez was trying to be all chummie with my male shep.

Mass Effect is one of EA's biggest franchises. EA is a publically traded company.
You don't get to say things like "we screwed up" when stock price is at stake. Undermines investor confidence.

They won't alter the endings or make new ones because of "artistic vision" (My ass), but they'll make a DLC with more maps, more characters (Geth are going to be awkward, how are you going to tell friendly geth from hostiles?), more weapons (Harpoon gun? the hell), and consumables.
