The livepanel seems interesting so far. Weekes is there.

They asked for a show of hands, and apparently most of the audience voted ME2 as the best of the series.

Which is kind of funny, considering BW hated the way they implemented the SM. They wish they had done it differently.

Not only Bioware. I really hate how the SM was implemented, not only because it was ridicolously easy, but because the fact that  the "everyone could survive and everyone could die" concept cut off any possibility to see some of the ME2 exclusive squadmates as permanent squad members in ME3.

I actually really like the suicide mission.  I think that mechanically, everything is excellent other than the Reaper Baby.  I love the "choose a squademate to do X" idea, and I love the fact that the ship upgrades you make in the game are reflected in the cinematic sequence (unlike EMS in ME3).  Difficulty doesn't really matter that much to me if its the "final mission."  Its difficult enough on Insanity.

While I see the SM as the excuse for nerfing the ME2 exclusive squadmates, I don't think that its the real cause.  Garrus and Tali could die too, and they were kept in.  At the least, they should have had more temporary squadmate scenarios in ME3.

I think it's because Miranda polarized. The new version is insipid, but she doesn't inspire hatred. She no longer challenges Shep.

Possibly a contributing factor as well, but a big part of the core problem imo.

Temp? Yes, I was expecting that since you got Anderson as temp at the beginning...but that was it (for the entire game)

Permanent? Well those two you mentioned have lots of popularity behind them that's why they made it as permanent squadmates

Is 'Dat Ass' forbidden from being discussed here?

No, what about it would you like to discuss?

What did you think of it in ME3?

I just noticed that whenever there's an ass shot of Miranda, it seems that everyone in this thread completely avoids the subject, lol. So I was wondering if it was taboo here.

On a side note, I like that one of the devs (not sure which, wasn't mentioned in my live blog) mentioned Marauder Shields (and Verner) in response to the question "if you could throw any other character into the synthesis beam, who would it be?"

Also: Horrible Question.

The Anderson thing threw me off as well.  After that happened I immediately assumed it would be a running theme, particularly since mandatory squadmates were so huge in ME2.

I was annoyed that those ignobile ass shots were still prevalent in the game.
I'm fairly certain there were more than in ME2.

Add that to the list of our requests they not only ignored but actually did the very opposite.

Garrus and Tali were put in ME3 as permanent squadmates because the reaction would've been massive, and I'm not talking only about BSN. When they choose which squadmates would return in ME3 from ME2, it was obvious that they'd choose them, they wouldn't take the risk.
I agree though that they could've made the other squadmates as temporary squadmates, like Liara in LOTSB. As far as I know they had that in mind during development. Don't know why they didn't do it.

Well that part of the list was a bit biased...

The hologram shot was obviously an inside joke, a nod to the infamous ass shot in ME2. I thought it was funny/brave of them to do that.

Yeah, way to ****** the fanbase. I would say that people who hated her in ME2 would still hate her in ME3.
Though I think they did something similar to Ashley (though I'm not sure about that, I'm using my friend as reference. For now I completed on playthrough in ME3, due the Grissom Academy bug, and I had Kaidan).

Once might be an inside joke.
But there are, at least, 4 of those shots in the game.

You're exaggerating.  There are only 3 shots of Miranda in the entire game.  :P

I could understand why ME2 was a firm favourite: the characters. Any writer worth anything should know this.

It has a strong character-focus (even if it is at detriment to the main campaign) and feels more like a TV show than a film. With ME3, the writing team were in the unfortunate position of having painted themselves into a corner. They provided some wonderful sections and setpieces but the whole war setting lights a firework up the butt that is your pacing. So, while the combat was improved further a lot of the narrative elements 'rushed' over the character stuff (even if it was captured beautifully, for the most part). And then there's that ending...

I think everyone's aware that's why the final section of the game is so jarring. It's so cold and impersonal, you'd think a robot wrote it.

Agreed to the fullest extent.

Really? I thought there was only one, I guess I'm jaded at this point with everything else in this game to notice.

But pacing-wise, it was their choice to frame things this way.  With their repeated refrain that it would take years for the Reapers to finish the job, they could have framed things differently.

This was simply amazing, the music and the montage is incredibly well done, bravo. It really made mirandas treatment easier thanx to your video:wizard:. One small suggestion though, i think it would be even better if you could sneak at the end the sequence where shepard is shooting and playing the flashbacks with miranda instead of liara. Just some thoughts

Agreed. Incredibly impressive work Image IPB

Doubly so considering the source material you were provided with this time around.
