A teaser, if I may.

Miranda stepped back. “Alive again?” Her mind fractured and reassembled as she struggled to make sense of it. Matt her mind. He had entered her the way he entered the computers at the lab or his copy of PaintWorks. He had taken her senses and made them his own. She looked over at Wreav’s crumpled form. The Illusive Man had always dreamed of control, whether of rachni worth Reapers, but he had never managed anything like this. It was as far beyond Henry's work at Sanctuary as a flashlight was beyond a candle. "You can… you can kill anyone with just a thought. Read minds.”

But Matt didn't seem to hear her. "Every time you took a breath, it was like my own lungs were filling up. Not just the way I make this hologram pretend to breathe. The real thing."

“Matt, focus! You just killed someone with your mind.”

He sobered at that, but his gaze was cold. "I'm not sorry the bastard's gone. If I had needed him, I would have left him to rot on Tuchanka. He was going to hurt you. I couldn't let that happen. And I killed lots of people with my mind when I had biotics. This really isn’t that different, is it?"

“Yes, it's different. There are limits to biotics, countermeasures that can be put in place to neutralize them when necessary. Including other biotics. I still don't know what your limits are. You felt me breathe. You put a thought in my head. If Henry ever had that kind of power, I never would have gotten free."

His eyes narrowed. "I'm not Henry. I'd never hurt you. I—“ he swallowed. "I care about you too much. Yeah, I was in your head. But I wouldn’t do mind control or anything.”

Miranda frowned. How to make him see? "Do you remember what you said to me when I told you about the chip?”

Matt gave her a slight, embarrassed frown of his own. "I, er, told you that I would have thrown you out the nearest airlock if it had been anyone else. Think there might have been a few comparisons to batarians in there.”

“More than a few. I suppose I could have done dozens of terrible things. Made you my slave. I could have made you act exactly as if you were still in love with me. And inside your own head, you would have been screaming. But none of that even crossed my mind. All I wanted was a way to keep you under control in case you woke up as some kind of raging beast. But all you could see is what I could do." She sighed. "You were right. I don't really want to think about facing the temptation. I’d have lost my temper at one of those stupidly risky decisions you made, and maybe I’d have slipped. Controlled you, not because you were a danger, but because I disagreed."

“And now…now I can do the same. To anyone.” There was no hope or wonder his eyes now. "You're afraid of me,” he said softly. “But you do have power. You can walk out the door. You can feel the wind in your hair. Miranda, you can, you can touch people. And I can’t touch you. All I am is a miserable ghost living off a memory of a memory of what it was like to hold you. And every day that memory gets a little bit fainter." He turned away, his shoulders hunched.

“Not a ghost, a god.” Memories popped up from the boxes that she had placed them in. "The only reason we ever met was because I hated being helpless. Not being able to get out of bed on my worst days. Having to plan my day down to the last detail because I couldn't afford to overtax myself. I thought the L3 would be the cure, that I would be master of my own fate and not just a slave to the pain. But it turns out you're the master."

"I've seen you helpless, Miranda. And I helped you when you needed it. Nothing's changed." He made an odd sound, a low, metallic groan. “And besides, lots of gods fell in love with humans."

"And that usually didn't turn out too well for the human." She gave a short, bitter laugh. "I can manage being a synthetic-organic hybrid, but I draw the line at being turned into a tree."

"It worked out okay for Cupid and Psyche."

"Doesn't count. She got turned into a goddess herself, remember?"

Matt rounded on her suddenly, his eyes filled with the same manic energy as when he conceived of a particularly ambitious painting. "Then I'll have to make you a goddess, then, won't I? Or find a way to become mortal." And with that, he was gone.

That's absolutely great, jtav. And rather more intense than I expected. Using the control chip problem as an analogy is brilliant. Looking forward to see how this problem will be resolved.

I just got 160 MS points for free through Xbox Rewards. Is the alternate appearance pack for Miranda worth it (ME2)? There's also a weapons pack that has the Phalanx. Suggestions?

Take the armore. I personaly love it but be sure to like it yourself. The weapon pack with the phalanx isn't great except for the matock but you can have it in ME3.

No, though I think the ideal Miranda armor would be slightly more sleek. I do like the DLC armor a lot, though.

I like the armour, but hate the eye piece. It is like a giant eyebrow. As if she put on part of a Groucho Marx disguise.

I like the armor, as it is armor. I could do without the visor but if it is there it is there. I would have preferred it as a more light armor but the heavy armor could be for when Miranda is expecting a lot of incoming fire, or is using heavy weapons such as a Revenant etc.

I wonder how her fight with Kai Leng would have gone had she worn her AAP 2 armor. Sure she would take hit, and would not die from Henry's pistol shot, but would she have been agile enough to dodge any lethal strikes. Had those strikes connected, would her armor protect her enough to give her enough time for a counter attack.
SPECULATION FROM EVERYONE!

This. I can't stand her armor pack. It just looks like chucks on metal stuck on her sides.....I always go with her black outfit as soon as her loyalty mission is done...

I support this nickname.

As for the armor, I personaly like it, just make sure you switch back to the normal suit or loyalty outfit before the love scene. Having Miranda walk out of the elevator in full armor only to then tell Shepard to be in the engine room in five minutes while funny, is also awkward.

A quick question to everybody: Did you like, love or hate Miranda hen you firs meet her?

I hated her.

This is an odd one. I mean, personally, I probably would've found her attitude a little off-putting. Although, I loved the wry comments.

As Shepard, however, I can avoid being so judgemental upfront. And I was kinda savvy to the fact that she would most likely conform to the 'unresolved sexual tension' (UST or URST in TV writing terms) trope.

She was also a pleasant surprise because I wasn't a fan of Yvonne Strahovski before; I'd only ever seen pictures and thought she looked a bit odd. But I fell in love with that accent right away and then started watching Chuck. She seems like one of those people you have to see in action in order to truly appreciate them, if that makes sense...

Also, latest episode I saw featured her in a catsuit. Yowsers!

There's a mod to remove the visor. Ask Vertigo_1.

I remember that episode from the season I'm on. That brief period where she's undercover in a dark wig. But it was flat hair and had a fringe, so was not Miranda-like or even that flattering...

This is the scene to which I am referring. And when she kicks a guy a moment earlier... ;)
