Quick, very strange question: is the model for the tracer device (rectangular thing with a screen) used anywhere else? Because Miranda has it on her in the apartment and tells Shep she always has a plan.

I noticed that before and yes it's the same model

Huh? I completely missed this!
When does that happen?

Don't romance her. She holds it up and says "Don't worry. I always have a plan" at the end of the scene.

Okay, new headcanon: she deliberately drew Cerberus' attention during her rescue in an attempt to learn TIM's location.

Don't romance Miranda? Nonsense.

Ah, thanks. Thought it might be that.

I figure she planned to plant a trace on her father to find Oriana but circumstances changed and she could use it on Kai Leng. Or she put that before getting Oriana? The whole Sanctuary sequence seems a bit muddled to my mind. Like, what was the order of events?

We see Kai Leng ambush Miranda but had she known Oriana was definitely there by then? Did Kai Leng already have the research data?

Good question.
I always had the impression; with nothing to support it, I guess; that Henry Lawson did not inform the human population of what he was doing. It would invite suspicion, like you said, imitation from other scientists and, maybe even a criminal investigation if it was determined Miranda wasn't the first one. Then there would be rallys of people demanding her be destroyed, people who would want genetic engineering available to all which Henry wouldn't want, etc.

That's always confused me. I figured it was that way, but then maybe it's not that controversial?

I mean, he wanted to continue his legacy/dynasty. Was he just going to present a full-grown daughter and say, "Tada! Here's one I made earlier"? People would be more than a little suspicious.

There are just too many questions. :P

Miranda was born (though possibly from an artificial uterus) and had a childhood like any other human. It's just her genetic pattern that was "created". So there was never any need to "present a full-grown daughter". It's perfectly feasibly to keep the details of Miranda's origin secret.

@hot_heart

And just to make things interesting, when TIM and Leng discuss Miranda in the Cronos log, it sounds as if the experiments are her motivation for going there.

Ah, I guess. I just figured people would be wondering about who her mother was. Plus, he's
had two daughters 'go missing' now. Looks very odd to an outsider.

"What happened that promising teenage daughter of yours?"
"No idea what you're talking about, I'm afraid..."

It gets worse! Writing that section for my thing is going to be a pain, I can tell...

That's what they think. And I'm sure that's one of Miranda's reasons for going there. She also wanted to save Oriana of course.

Sadly "Once I saw what this place really was..." suggests Miranda was not aware of the full extent of the attrocities Cerberus was commiting on Sanctuary until she went there in person thus, her main motivation was Oriana.

You know, I think I prefer unromanced Miranda in ME3. She has just a bit more swagger, and I like it.

Ehh...in her defense, who wouldn't want to go save their loved one?
Miranda probably could've saved Ori a bit sooner than in the game if she just left without helping unroot the Cerberus threat.
In fact, kudos to Miri for sticking there, risking her life to expose the facility, and take on Kai Leng. She didn't have to stick around.

Well, yes. Risking her life to shut down Sanctuary, outsmarting Kai Leng; all of that is impressive.
I'm just desperatelly looking for any sense of motivation behind her actions that does not involve her family.

It's impressive, but the presentation is awful because it's told rather than shown. And we already know Miranda will risk her life for a greater goal.

Agreed. I'm just trying to make something out of the little BW gave us.

Btw, does anyone know what Shepard and Miranda say if you choose the "Im not a slave" option at the later Citadel scene? Me (and apparently everyone on Youtube)  don't have the guts to try it. Image IPB
An explanation would be good, exact dialogue would be great, and a video would be awesome.

I really would have liked the option for Shepard to tell Leng Miranda planted a tracer on him.
I get the feeling he and her had this rivalry going for years about who represented the true Cerberus.

Leng probably got all mad and spiteful when the Illusive Man favored her.

Question: Not thinking about what happened next, did you think Miranda might have still been with Cerberus when she asked you for unrestricted access to the Alliance military database? I thought it was a little fishy that she asked for it without giving a reason (I know she mentions her sister before, but she does not indicate they share a correlation), telling Shepard he just had to believe her. So, what was your reaction/thoughts when she said this?

One of the things I wanted for the romance was already denied by the devs (the pillow talk). And it's doesnt seems they care enough for the sidelined character to give them something in the extended cut. As far as I know that DLC will try to explain the endings.

Like I always say...

I had no reason not to trust her. Shepard and her were romantically involved (thus granting a level of inherent trust) and Miranda had resigned form Cerberus in ME2 (thus cutting associative ties to them).

@MisterJB, I agree BW intended on kill Miranda, but there's so much content that can be done up until Sanctuary. A DLC about her quest to find Oriana, with an extended Citadel romance scene and an actual confrontation with her father and possibly the Illusive Man as soon as she reaches Horizon, not to mention I'd really like to know how he fight with Kai Leng played out.

Unfortunatelly BW hates Miranda almost as much as its fans and it seems we will probably never get a DLC about her. We will however have one about Liara's journey to Mars.

At this point, I fully expect more Liara pandering.

@bold- I would be content if they traded the Citadel romance scene with a scene aboard the Normandy, post-Sanctuary (She does say she's getting her wounds treated, and the Normandy *does* have a medbay...).

Yes I also had no reason not to trust her, but I've read a few novels and seen a few movies where a character like Miranda gains the trust of the protagonist and claims to leave the evil organization, only to betray you later. With indoctrination in the ME universe it would have been a hell of a twist to find out TIM had implanted Miranda, maybe without her knowledge and even though she has been genuine and honest with you throughout the previous game, its been 6 months. That would have crushed me though, especially if the game forced me to have to shoot her.  :crying:

Femme Fatales.
Miranda used to subvert the trope.
