Which is why Weekes is my favorite writer on the team. Didn't he also write Tuchanka in ME3? It would explain my fanboyism for that mission set.

Weekes did a hell of a job on Tuchanka. That was probably one of my favorite parts in Mass Effect 3. He did the Paragon and Renegade scenes for Mordin perfectly. And the rest of the mission was superb as well.

And then Walters' grubby hands went and wrote the endings...

In ME2, who wrote Miranda on her Loyalty mission? I'm assuming that was definitely considered main plot Miranda. But on the other hand, she shows more of her non-plot side with her concerns for Ori's safety. You see both sides of her on the LM. (Which is why I love that mission so much)

To the bolded, I believe the Loyalty Mission is off the "crit path," which is the term the developers use for the main plot points. That's why Weekes wrote it. He would have also written the main dialogues with Miranda on the Normandy, including the romance.

Walters would have written Miranda whenever she intervened in the main plot, so mostly early and late in the game. I'm not sure if this includes things like mission debriefings, the argument with Jack, and other dialogue of that nature.

I'm also not sure about things like on-mission banter, and so on.

It seems that most of Tuchanka was the responsability of another writer, a certain John Dombrow. But Weekes was involved with Mordin.

So, when will we know who wrote Miranda in ME3?

Can you blame them for not telling us, considering our reaction?

No. I also have no real desire to know. I'd rather just have contempt for the work and leave it at that Image IPB

If Bioware is intelligent, probably never.

That's a big "if".

Because odds are that person probably wrote my favorite part of the game with my luck. I'd prefer my contempt be simple and uncomplicated.

Haha I really doubt it. What would that be? The best parts of the game are already accounted for.

Bioware won't tell us because then they'd be forced to hire bodyguards for the guy who wrote Miranda.

Well, just in terms of romance, I've been falling all over Samantha and Kaidan. They actually managed to move me to tears.

Well, then you can just say what we've been saying all along: there are some nice lines in the romance, the rest is... *ahem*... "flawed."

For his first crack at a Bioware game I'm looking forward to seeing more from John Dombrow, he did good work with Tuchanka and the writing for Garrus. I think the company made a good decision when they tasked him and Patrick Weekes to tackle the extended cut.

Mac Waters does good work, but his narratives really benefit from having another writer working with him. The ME comic Evolution starts out strong by showing TIM during the First Contact War, but towards the end it really starts to feel like there were a bunch of plot points between Jack Harper becoming TIM that needed to be gone over, but there wasn't enough space to go over them all, and the story suffers for it.

Going into the Invasion comic, where Walters has been working with scriptwriter John Jackson Miller for a few stories things start to flow a lot better. Oleg Petrovsky has a lot of the moral ambiguity that we got in ME2, while Colonel Ashe is more of a one-dimensional character along the lines of the Cerberus we see in ME3. The combination of Walters handling the overarching narrative while Miller takes care of the details results in a much better story.

Dammit, while my sister was playing ME3 just now, Taynor told her, "Commander, there's a message for you from a....Miranda Lawson." or something like that for the First Miri Email. I didn't know Traynor said that.:( I checked the Email because of Intuition.

And to be fair, I do get a "birth mother reconnecting with adopted child" vibe from the LM.

Which is why I've always headcanoned that Miranda considered keeping Oriana and raising her as her own (age difference would've allowed for it), but realized she wanted Oriana to have a "normal life" and she wouldn't be able to give it to her.

Hey, does anyone here have the Xbox version of ME3 that would be interested in playing MP sometime?

I probably will give it a shot in about a week or so. Though I'll be doing Bronze, since I'll just be starting out. I live in California, so not sure if that would be a problem in terms of timezone. GT: TDKienholz

Nah, that shouldn't be a problem. And I play Bronze all the time, don't worry. I play with some people from California so it should be fine. Probably would have to do it on weekends because it may be too early for you when I go on Xbox. I stay up later on weekends anyway. When I add you, you'll easily know who I am. Haha.

Why ?
I think the quality of Miranda's content in ME3 is really good, and I would thank the writer for that. My problem is what is missing, not what is in the game.
The only one I would blame is the one who decided to sideline the ME2 characters.

Well, that's certainly true, first and foremost. And I can easily imagine being happy with the role if Miranda joined up after Sanctuary as she obviously should.

That said, there's a problem somewhere if I have to say: this really logical thing should happen, but it doesn't.

Miranda's role was never really going to be satisfying without being larger, but there's enough dialogue and screentime that it should have added up to much more than it does.

Agree. Miranda's content is good, the conversation with her about the control chip is one of the very best in the game. It's just that there's not enough Miranda in the game. But that was the entire team's decision. They picked Tali & Garrus from ME2 squad. Yeah...

And Miranda was written by Jay Watamaniuk in ME3, Patrick Weeks just tweeted it: twitter.com/#!/PatrickWeekes/status/191726078732156928
