I guess I'm losing myself in some sort of translation here, haha! I'll try the best my English allows me to =p
Let's scratch the name 'graphic novel', but lets go:
comic books, 24 page book with all pages filled with drawings, well, the traditional comic book
as for the other which I'm not sure how to name it, a regular book, but with illustrations every so often. For example, a 30 page chapter would have 3 illustrations. That opens for a much more complex type of drawings.
so, ahm... help?

Not sure there is really a proper name/term for it, which is why you were struggling.Asakawa wrote...

It can be called a novel with illustrations ('illustrated novel'?), or a comic written in prose, I guess.

As for ours (crutch) were staying comic format right? And for names what do you think about something like "new dawn" or "new beginnings"? Im trying to come up with a name that shows this is a new story after the me series. But if you have something else in mind let me know.

Illustrated novel fits the literal translation for Brazilian Portuguese hehe (in case no one knows where I'm from =p).
Well, so, I guess I can contribute better like this. If the format ain't that much popular, I'll do my best to help with the comics.

Also im a huge comic fan use to help out in a local shop and most of the time the name graphic novel is applied to a series of comics that have a single and complete storyline and are sold in a collection.

Also did I mention you're amazing for signing on to all of this?
Ares: Yes I would prefer comic format but I am open to other options. We've got some great people lining up for this thing and I'm starting to want to see it made more than wanting specifics. As for the title "New Beginnings" is currently the working title for the page lol. But if we're talking down the line "New Dawn" is pretty good. I was also thinking "Aeon Of Strife." But that can be decided later.
To all: No this is not intended to replace the fanbook. In fact I'm still hoping to submit something for that myself. I'm also skeptical on whether it'll be done at roughly the same time. But as has been mentioned I feel a "by the fans for the fans" approach is best. So submitting this to Bioware isn't high on my priority list.

We can play that by ear a bit. What you guys are doing will need its own schedule, obviously.
I expect to start really gathering contributions to the fanbook next week, when I return from a weekend out of town.

Tbh, I'm getting kind of overwhelmed by all these fan initiatives. There's the old LI fanbook, which is concluded, the Miranda fanbook, for which I have already posted some of my stuff, Visii's new LI romance project, for which I'm writing something, and your project. Have I forgotten anything?CrutchCricket wrote...

@crutch for comics live image marvel dc and so on they have around 5 people working on a single issue. The pencil, ink, color, main artist, writer , and sometimes a second writer. Plus an editor.
I made some comments to the art guys on the group discussion earlier about that.
And I don't mind discussing the "new beginigs" project with people but for the trilogy I'd like Aliqaiser to lay down the plot and tell me what to do so im not interfering with anyones artist vision lol.

I think that's it
But yeah, there's a lot of stuff going on. It's basically a good thing, but hopefully we can keep it focused enough to produce a couple of really solid items without going nuts.

Maybe this is just a trend and people are just hopping on the bandwagon. But I hope not. I really think the comic book(s) can be a good thing for us fans. I am worried that with the ME series done (and buried beneath all the ending ****) interest will wane and people will leave. Hopefully stuff like this will postpone that somewhat.
Ares: Part one of the trilogy is all Aliqaiser since it's technically a new story. Part 2 is based on Sanctuary so we have more of a framework to go on and part 3 is the epilogue. I think we'd have more creative control in the second and third parts.

Dear Bioware,
Before I get into the story, I just want to deliver a personal message. I thought the Mass Effect series was wonderful and brilliantly done. But I feel Miranda Lawson didn't have a very desirable role in Mass Effect 3, as a character and Love Interest.
My Shepard, Michael, was an Earth-born sole survivor and a mostly a Paragon, though he made a few Renegade decisions.
In Mass Effect 1, he saved the life of Ashley Williams before she was snagged by the Prothean Beacon. Ashley from then on fell in love with Shepard. Shepard would have a friendship with her and be a nice guy. He talked to her just like the rest of his squadmates like Wrex and Garrus after each mission to get her opinion. Ashley told Shepard more than he bargained for, like about her family and he listened. Things got unexpected for Shepard when Ashley showed up at his door right before the mission on Ilos. Shepard, single at the time got caught up in the heat of the moment and went along with Ashley. Shepard had what he thought was casual sex but Ashley told him it was more than that. Shepard was a bit uncomfortable but went along with the relationship. He knew it meant more to Ash than himself.
After he died in the Collector's assault on the SSV Normandy, he was brought back to life by Miranda. Shepard was impressed at Miranda's skill after she shot Wilson, although was cautious at first. He tried to engage her in conversation, but Miranda seemed a bit cold, and unrevealing. After some missions, Shepard tried getting to know Miranda more. He was very impressed with her credentials, skills on the battlefield, and biotic ability. He was slowly forgetting about Ashley and slowly falling in love with Miranda. He later met Ashley again on Horizon, and Ashley was stone cold. She wondered why Shepard hadn't called her or tried to contact her. He died, and now was on a mission to save all of humanity. Ashley then went on to basically call Shepard a traitor since he began to help Cerberus. Shepard wasn't happy. He was thinking "I die, and I'm now on an important mission for the good of humanity and the rest of the galaxy. And all she cares about is contacting her? At least I don't have to feel bad at pursuing Miranda, because I'm done with Ash."
So Shepard looked for a good oppertunity to try and win Miranda over. He was on his way for a chat with her when he was informed Miranda wanted a word with him. He went into her office, and Miranda asked for Shepard's help with her sister, Oriana. Shepard would've helped anyone (He completed everyone's loyalty missions in fact) so he leaped at the chance to help Miranda. Afterall, they were becoming good teammates and were working well together. They definitely respected each other. After Shepard helped Miranda get Ori to safety and not shoot Niket, he asked Miranda if she was okay later on the ship. Miranda regretted Niket's death, even though it was not by her hand. She was just happy she got Ori to safety and that she was able to talk to her. Miranda seemed very thankful towards Shepard.
After a couple of more conversations, Shepard learned a lot of about Miranda's past. He comforted her about her genetic origin and told her that she was more than what her father made her to be. That she's still human, and she's still her own person who used the gifts in a graceful manner. Miranda began to fall in love with Shepard herself. They shared a tender moment together the night before the Suicide Mission. Shepard promised her he wouldn't die again, that once was enough. Miranda asked for some time, and then beckoned the Commander to the engine room, where they shared an intimate moment. They then prepared for the Suicide Mission, and were able to work together easily. They didn't have to cope with the deaths of any other squadmates.
Shepard basically loved Miranda for her independent attitude, and the fact she could mask her emotions easily. She was a warrior, who fought for what she believed to be right.
In the events of Mass Effect 3, Miranda was still independent, but seemed to have lost some of her flare. She should have been a squadmate so that she and Shepard could've done a better job advancing their relationship.
My Shepard wished to have Miranda's presence with him when he assaulted the Cronos Station, and to have her by his side on the Normandy and at Earth.
Which is why I ask that you incorporate more Miranda content into Mass Effect 3. She's such a great character, and deserved a better role with some squadmate availability in Mass Effect 3. Thanks for taking the time to read this.
Sincerely,
Michael DeSantis

Rachel: Yeah graphic novel and illustrated novel aren't the same. I think we'd all like the former, not so sure about the latter. I've seen your stuff though. I think you'd be great at the comic style (look at your Kasumi picture. I could swear that was from a comic). Is it just quantity that worries you? I was reading your past comments in the discussion, and I don't think anyone would expect you to turn out perfectly polished page after perfectly polished page. I know precisely zip about how comics are created (I mean to rectify that) but in their credits I always see things like "pencils" "inks" and "colors". So maybe they have different people doing each layer (from sketch to drawing to full color)? Any comics nerds want to back me up here?
Also did I mention you're amazing for signing on to all of this?
eh, thanks a lot, i guess XD
I've always been a comic fan all my life (so that now I'm in some sort of identity crisis because i always loved Marvel over DC and now it's exactly the opposite, hahah!) . I guess that's why I started drawing, even if that's for a hobby. But I know myself, and I'm afraid that I might blow the dead lines, since I take like days on a single drawing, even if just for the sketch. That's the truth to be told, I'm afraid of screwing up things due to my lack of speed.
As for working with 'layers', and each one doing a part of the process, it must be very well coordinated, as who will do what. I'd really like to do the pencils, but I know where I stand. We could switch tasks for each part of the project? for example, sanctuary one is the penciler, for the end-game another one, and so on?
If you don't mind having your project delayed because of me, I'm up to the task, haha
