Walters' blog post on relationships in ME3 really only applied to a couple of characters. I didn't really care as much about the squad as I did in ME2.

I'm not going to throw Hudson and Walters under the bus, but I'm probably going to avoid projects they work on in the future.

Reading that post just rekindled some anger.

So I've essentially given Miranda Chakwas' place on the ship, which means she needs to function as ship's doctor. How good would she be at the role? Where might she slip up that Chakwas or Michel wouldn't? Nothing life-threatening, just annoying.

She probably wouldn't be gentle.  If you can call that a slip up.

Agreed. But you and I can't really throw them under the bus. However, a colleague can. Anyway, my point was more that we would likely be sceptical of such a self-serving statement in other circumstances.

I mean, Weekes' post can only really accomplish three things: (1) further polarize fan anger toward two people in particular and (2) exonerate himself (and maybe some other writers by extension) in the eyes of fans and (3) cause fans to put Weekes himself on a pedestal for "whistle-blowing."

Not that you would need to premeditate all of that, it's just basically the same type of gut reaction that one might have faced with an angry mob, i.e. "It was that guy over there, I'm on your side." It might even be true, of course. It's just... noteworthy that opinion can be so quickly polarized for and against certain individuals.

I couldn't let Shepard die on Miranda.

He promised:crying:

Exactly! Image IPB

Shepard isn't a liar, either.  MOST of the time.

I added you on xbox btw.

Yeah, I accepted you and Massa also.

There's a username on some forum or other (Penny Arcade, I think) that is known to belong to Patrick Weekes, due to him using it in the past for other reasons. Anyway, not too long ago, there was a post containing a reaction to the ending fiasco that basically said that Walters and Hudson had been solely responsable, wrote the endings in a room together, and that the endings were the only part of the game that was not submitted for peer review by the whole team, etc.

The above is basically accepted as gospel now by everyone, due to that post. Bioware and Weekes denied it was him, I believe.

There are probably still some threads around on the topic. An online article:

The Final hours of Mass Effect 3 App basically says it was those two who worked on the endings

Anyway, not to rehash all of this, my original point was simply that it's... just easy to blame all of the bad on certain people, and give others all the credit for what's good about the game.

I figure the Extended Cut may at least give us a reuinion with our LI.
And if you play the whole series without a love interest, you'll be reuinited with...yep you guessed it. Liara.

I want a Reunion Scene with Miri too<3.:(

Why can't BioWare understand that we do not want Liara.:crying:

Because Mac Walters is the lead writer.

I have a lot of issues with the ending. But I was TRULY shocked that when the ending cinematic rolled (with I guess Shepard's thoughts?) they just showed Anderson, Joker and Liara....

Now that I'm thinking about it, that's the part that hurts me the most, in my core, with the ending. Especially since it's a movie clip, so there's no "ok, insert Liara here" part. That's LITERALLY all they included and at no point did they plan to include a shot of any other person (not even the vaunted Tali or Garrus got in there). It's just Anderson, Joker, and Liara....that point in the ending cinematic REQUIRES that you show the LI and at least 1 other ME-2 squaddie and I'm sorry, I don't want to hear about resources. That's simple programming and video clipping....

Well, also, if that was Weekes, I agree with everything he said Image IPB

It's more how extreme it is that makes me a bit uneasy sometimes. You still regularly see Weekes get credit for writing the genophage arc on the forums, when apparently it was mostly Dombrow (with help from Weekes for Mordin).

Good God, I know. At the very least they could've ADDED some more characters if they didn't want to edit it at all.
First of all, I never even really talked to Liara, yet my Shepard thinks about her in the flashback. WTF.
Second of all, where's the love of his life, Miranda?
Third, where are his best friends, Wrex and Garrus?
I like Joker and Anderson being there, but come on, Liara?

@ Flemm

Which is why I'd love to have a Developer's Commentary mode for the game. A lot of hard work went into making the game and I'd be interested in hearing more about it.

@ Jtav

From a medical standpoint she'd probably be very competent (she did figure out how to bring back the dead) but her bedside manner wouldn't be that great. Think Dr. McCoy from Star Trek:

Miranda: You got your armor punctured by Ravager fire again?

Vega: (sighs) Yes Frosty, I got shot. Can you skip the lecture and patch me up?

Miranda: Preventing it from happening again is preferable than dealing with you on a regular basis Mr. Vega.

Vega Aw, that hurts Frosty. How come you don't give the Commander the same treatment?

Miranda: Because unlike the Commander, you don't have three million credits worth of heavy dermal weave installed under your skin, and due to Alliance regulations I can't inject you with active nanotechnology.

Vega: Oh.

I completely agree with you. And the fact that they aprently thought fans would be ok with that is baffling. I mean how can they argue for the ending when CuseGirl is able to point out major flaws in it that fast.

@asakawa OK first off wow you can do that in an hour and a half? Seriously you idk how you artist do that stuff. It looks great idk how they would decline it for the book. Second that's Miranda holding the pic correct?

haha nice dialog!

And thanks, Ares ^^ I was in need to get away from work a lil bit. Drawing comes handy in times like these.

yeah, it should be her holding the picture. So, one hour and half I should theoretically have a completely inked drawing! I even captured a video of my desktop while working on this drawing to take a look later on what i need to speed on.

Little late, but to be completely honest, I bought the games to romance Miranda. Someone put a picture of her in a DA:O forum and I dished out the cash.

I agree that was pretty much my interpretation. I "saw" Miranda holding this as she stands on a pile of rubble. Taking a break from looking for Shepard.
