Implying that Leng left just a moment or two before Shepard arrived.
I still think Miranda's a badass for surviving that encounter. (Not that she wasn't already Image IPB)

It would have been much cooler if she fought him off, instead of Leng just sort of leaving.

Well, it's sort of implied that, not only did she survive it, she basically left herself open to attack so that she could plant the tracer (the non-romance version of the 3rd conversation has Miranda holding up the tracer and announcing that "she always has a plan").

But overall the role in ME3 doesn't really make much sense, if you try to put all the details together, due probably to revisions trying to improve it and introducing ideas that don't really "fit."

Also the crunch, as Dr. Doctor points out.

What would've been amazing is if Kai Leng left because he knew Miranda was about to get the upperhand on him, so he ran away like Shepard said.

Not sure who would've died first if they kept fighting it out and Miranda didn't have to worry about planting the tracer.

Well, as soon as Leng's shields went down he'd be on a one-way trip to Slam-town. But given Leng's track record he'd probably pull a Sir Robin before that could happen.

Leng does seem the type to gallantly chicken out.

Well, say if Leng had nowhere to run to. Maybe he'd try to run away and Miranda would murder him that way.
But say if he fought like a man, and Miranda had a gun, she'd be able to drop his shields with a mix of firepower and biotics. She'd be able to mess with his sword biotically by warping it and maybe slowing it down. Of course, she would then proceed to throw and slam him. And then while Kai Leng is on the floor, he'd scan the roof for possible escape routes. Then Miri would stand over him and murder him the way she chooses.

btw, who got the worst transition?

Miranda from ME2 to ME3, or Leng from Retribution to Deception (or to ME3).

Leng still has kinetic barriers.

I would have to say Leng, to be totally honest. Before, he was a ruthless, cold-hearted badass who slit throats with a smile on his face. Now he pisses in vases, steals cereal from elderly people, and gets beaten by the ME equivalent to a cancer patient.

Miranda may have been somewhat dumbed down, but at least she retains her badass qualities in some form. LEng just sort of fizzles out of existence.

By any chance, did watamaniuk write Leng too? or they asked the guy who wrote deception to do it in the game?

Well, let's see, using my trusty "Transition Evaluation Formula" (TEF)...

Quality of Initial Appearance divided by Quality of Post-Transition Appearance, multiplied by How Much I Care...

Equals... Miranda Image IPB

Actually, I dunno, I never read the novels Image IPB

Btw when you guys said BW intended Miranda to be "Reaper chow", did you mean she was planned to be indoctrinated? Or do you mean she was planned to be a buffet for Reaper ground troops?
If the latter...than...really Bioware? Image IPB    At least they changed it.

Well, in one early story draft, she's just in prison on Sanctuary, having been captured. I actually don't remember the "Reaper Chow" part.

It's a really skeletal draft, though, so it's not really surprising that the final role would be somewhat more fleshed out.

Does anyone else think Sanctuary probably could have been done better if it was only occupied by Cerberus, no Reapers?

jtav did, yeah, so I guess she's remembering some detail that I'm not, i.e. the prisoners were going to be fed to the Reapers. Like I say, I don't remember that detail. But anyway, she was captured.

Reason #712 why I have issues with Mass Effect 3. Kai Leng has what, 3 plot armored encounters with Shepard? I didn't read the books. He means nothing to me.....

Biggest reason why introducing plot elements or characters introduced and fleshed out in the expanded universe is a bad idea, when those elements or characters are made major in-game.

No one knows why the hell he's such a big deal. To them, he's a wannabe Ryu Hayabusa in space-ninja garb.

Probably not. I suppose Walters did, at least a little, since he appears on the crit path. But there are also writers assigned to specific levels. Miranda's writer would have been most likely to have written some lines for Leng on Sanctuary, for example.

Kai Leng.

Several aspects of Miranda's character are missing but I don't remember an instance of her acting OOC.

Kai Leng... used to be a xenophobe with a cruel streak but who also truly believed in protecting humanity and was willing to work with the Alliance if he had to much like Shepard works with Cerberus. He was loyal to the organization but also weary of TIM.
Not sure where this "Daddy TIM doesn't love me anymore so I hate Shepard" came from.
Also, "Deception" is not canon and should not exist. **** that ****.
