I don't understand this "only indirect".... Can't Shepard control the Reapers? Otherwise this is a nice idea but I don't quite see the "bittersweet".

Except they aren't dead. They've been transformed into another form of life.

So the Catalyst was just pulling Shepard's leg when he says "You will die."?

It was meant figuratively. Shepard dies as a human and loses all human connections she had, but contnues to exist in some form. Controlling the Reapers would make no sense otherwise.

No, I'm not certain. Actually, I think they added that in for shock value to make Control appear less attractive after the reactions to the leaked script.

But taking it figuratively is the only way it makes sense.

If Miranda were making the final choice, what do you think she'd do? I say Destroy. In ME2, she's presented as extremely cautious and willing to sacrifice crewmen for the sake of the mission. Destroy is the most certain end to the Reaper threat, and I think she'd consider EDI an acceptable loss. Her history would make Control undesirable. Synthesis is too risky, though you could make a case for it based on Lazarus.

Where else could Shepard and Miranda do it in a place that's NOT the bedroom? They've checked the engine room and a random hotel so far. I doubt they'd do it in the bridge, since Joker is there (That would be weird).

I agree. But she would ask for more details on the results first. If at all possible, she wouldn't make the choice with so little information.
