I know I played ME2 first, and realized I had a sucky default import so I had to buy ME1. If the default wasn't so bad then I wouldn't play ME1.

Yeah, generally better/desirable versions of content are in imports, so you benefit from importing. The question then becomes: why are Miranda, Mordin and Jacob in the default, when everybody else who is not on the squad is absent?

With Mordin, I think it's probably because the Genophage missions already have a Wreav, so it's already less-than-ideal. Having two Wreavs active in the default is probably just seen as an unnecessarily crappy version of these missions for non-imports. With Miranda, the way the mission works makes it easy to keep most of the content while ensuring that the better outcome is import-only (not true of the other missions that I can think of).

As for Jacob... I dunno. Nothing really springs to mind here. But I also haven't paid much attention to his mission.

Mordin is interesting, because you only lose anything if he's dead if you can convince him not to cure the genophage. And having Wreav is necessary for the best outcome.

BECAUSE I do NOT have enough money to bid. And I want to buy it RIGHT AWAY. If I bid I have to wait, making sure someone else doesn't bid over me. And I don't want to use pay pal. I use VISA!

Yeah, though I was speaking mostly as to the quality of the mission, the presence of returning characters, etc. With Wreav/Wrex, those missions already have an "import-only" character, so I imagine that is at least partly why Mordin is there by default.

Shame. Padok is awesome in his own right. Which makes me wonder if, paradoxically, fleshing Oriana out might have made Miranda's survival feel significant. Make the player feel they are getting a very different experience depending on which Lawson sister you're following.

I don't think Miranda wants the rest of humanity improved the way she was. She's too conflicted about her origins for that.

It is undeniable that Miranda views her abilities as something independant of herself and, sadly, this was not explored in ME3 so we can't even tell if her perspective has changed.
However, she also speaks of how Cerberus approves of genetic engineering for the good of humanity and I didn't detect any anger in her voice. It also appeared that what attracted her to Cerberus as opposed to her father was how they believed in a greater good whereas Henry only served his own selfish ends.
As such, it could be that Miranda is willing to extend her gifts to those who ask for it but maybe not to unborn babies. The freedom to choose may be where she draws the line.
I can picture, once humanity's place in the galaxy is more secure than it is at the end of the war, Miranda frenetically working to discover a way to increase the lifespan of humans everywhere.
Of course, it's all for humanity...it would have nothing to do with increasing Shepard's longevity to match her own...Image IPB

I think that, overall, Miranda would be very prudent about the applications of genetic engineering, due to the complexity of her own experiences. But... I think that's also why she's the best choice to expand upon that technology.

You wouldn't want somebody doing that who had no personal experience of genetic enhancements, of the psychological impact they might have, of the pros and cons, so to speak. You would want somebody who would be... very careful. And I think Miranda would be.

Okay guys, we need to pump up the support!! *Sigh* Why do I always have to be such a cheerleader? lol

Anyway, Sbarge just tweeted he is doing more voice work after Helfer's confirmation. I find it a bit strange that the intervals of these tweets are pretty close to one another. I hope Strahovski tweets something!

Exactly. That's why I'm firmly convinced Miranda doesn't disapprove of genetic engineering in general.

There's no reason not to personally profit from something that profits the rest of humanity.

btw, anyone here think that lazarus tech might help to cure Miranda infertility?

I mean, if lazarus tech can grow organs and create advanced cybernetic prosthesis, then why not cure any illness with that tech.

jtav with hope is a little unnusual, well, 2012. See all of you in heaven on 12-21

I'm curious as to what the public response to Henry Lawson creating Miranda was. Genetic modification is pretty much a common practices in the twenty-second century, but engineering a human being from scratch might have caused some outcry.

Anyone? I think a better question would be: who doesn't?

Miranda curing her infertility should be trivial, of course. Or she could bypass it. Either choice is actually a nice opportunity for character growth.

I would like to see Miranda as the "future of humanity" in some sense.

Ah yes, "the future of humanity" was nothing more than fodder for Leng.

That's the only prophecy of Liara that isn't true.

I can tell you that devout Catholics, Jews, and Muslims would have gone ballistic over something like Miranda's creation.

As for Miranda herself, I think she mostly finds an excuse to work on other projects. She approves of engineering in the abstract, but is a long way from repeating the process.
