Couldn't agree more. Shepard definitely showed more concern for Ash after Mars, whom he romanced in the first game, than he ever did for Miranda, even when he saw her being attacked by Kai Leng or when she died in his arms Shepard didn't show the concern he did for Ashley.
Another thing that really gets me angry is their first meeting. Miranda actually smiles and Shepard couldn't be more indifferent. I think any guy after 6 months without seing his girlfriend would show some happiness on the reunion. No "I miss you", no "I'm glad to see you" and he didn't even try to give her a kiss.

This is going to be a 'flying visit' because I've spent all free time this evening, writing, and I'm tired and up later than I intended. So forgive me if I'm jumping into the middle of a discussion.
Firstly, love the short red-haired Miranda picture. They captured the face really well too, and it doesn't appear that they relied on an existing reference, making it all the better (though, as much as I'd like to, I can't claim to have seen every Yvonne Strahovski picture...)
Secondly, what has been occupying my time is chapter 7 of my Miranda story. I actually started off not too fond of writing this one but the original idea grew and grew, and the fact that I got so caught up in writing it is what has left me completely frazzled. I know some of it is probably sloppily-written but I just wanted to get it all down before I passed out.
Anyway, as you guys are the best, most reliable fans and audience, here is a preview of a rough first draft before I refine it and upload to FF.net. If you want to see the rest, newcomers, the links are in my sig.
This is the part where you tell me it stinks and to just go to sleep.
With that, I bid you adieu and hope you enjoy the rest of your day!

And from a practical standpoint they have to account for the people who are no longer interested.
I like them as a couple. If not for the war, I believe they'd have a long and happy relationship. And the romance affirmation counts for a lot.

Well, a couple of points...
1) I'm not sure that's true, strictly speaking. Oriana is no longer on Sanctuary, presumably Miranda took her to a safe location, perhaps her new base of operations? FTL travel still works. Might she even be fighting alongside Miranda on earth? Why wouldn't she, given the circumstances?
2) I don't think it's a huge issue either way. Miranda wants to save Orianna from her father. So, if Oriana survives, wherever that happens, then Miranda has given her that chance at life.

Well, if we go by the stupid notion that the Relays all get destroyed, it's very sad to think that Miranda finally rescues her sister, thinking they could have a (maybe) normal life together, and then all the Relays blow up meaning she'll never see her again. How'd you think she'd actually take that? Considering everything she's done for Ori and all that.
