It's worth adding, I think, that sometimes one has to screw up in order to get it right, or to see what "right" really is, when it comes to characterisation.

For example, with the whole emotional/pragmatic thing, what's lacking is not really pragmatism, but idealism, the sense of purpose and ambition.

In retrospect that is obvious, but perhaps it takes it not being there for it to be clear how important it is.

I think you're onto something. It is the idealism I miss, much more than her willingness to do nasty things if the occasion warrants. That blazing sense purpose, along with the playful ****iness she still possesses are what makes her for me.

It was the water I swam in. Never noticed until it dried up. And it would have been easy to keep. "I want humans to have a better life" is not a controversial prospect, especially when job #1 is defeating the Reapers.

Exactly, yeah.

In retrospect also, this is why fans seemingly always have a scenario in mind like Miranda leading an intelligence organisation, or reforming Cerberus, or exploiting Lazarus tech for medical purposes, or whatever. What varies is more the type of scenario. But everybody has one.

I think the fully-body shot on the left hand side would have been a little better if Miranda was wearing her white suit (Color reasons), but still VERY nice.

Off topic: Diablo 3 is amazing. What class do you guys think Miranda might play? I'm thinking Wizard.

I'm trying to savor this, because, with Blizzard's glacial development cycles, there probably won't be another Diablo game for like 15 years.

Hmm I'm not a Diablo fan. My cousin is giving me a "guest pass" so I can try it out.

I have a question as well:

I have Merizan's address. Should we send one to her? That's in addition to BW HQ and Tully. We can choose to send 9 posters. This will definitely be a hard decision since we have more awesome concepts coming.

I would send her one. She's arguably the most known PR person at Bioware, so it would be good publicity.

Well, I like all of them, but I think the first is still the best to represent #FindMiranda, especially on its own.

So, if we are sending only one to Jessica in Cali, then I tend to think a second copy of that one, the "main" one, might make the most sense.

I liked almost all of them. The only one I didn't like was the one with Miranda, Shepard and Kaidan. This is a Miranda campaign and Kaidan is the highlighted character on the poster, he shouldn't be on the front like he's leading them. If we can't send them all, the Kaidan poster is definitely the one I would cut it.

But that's the only complaint I have, all other posters look amazing, especially the blue, missing in action one. :happy: And I think we should definitely send a poster to Merizan, I believe she stated a few times that Miranda was one of her favorite characters.

Well, the idea behind that one is the alliance with "#kaidanswaiting." But it would make more sense as part of the group of posters sent to Edmunton, perhaps.

Oh well we are working on a new poster that will address that problem because I realized Kaidan is in front plus there is no Femshep.

If we will just send her a copy then we can only send 8 original posters instead of 9 because the other one is to Merizan.

EDIT: However, I do agree that we should send the main one to Merizan. Just letting you guys know what happens if we do that.

While that's true, it's also true that there will only be one in California, so I think it makes sense for it to be the one that best represents the whole idea. That, plus a total of 8 to Bioware HQ is pretty good, I think.

But it's just a suggestion.

It strikes me that the lack of purpose is something the EC could fix. Not as well as we'd like, but an epilogue card of her doing something awesome in the future would be go a long way.

Given BioWare's current view on Miranda, I fear her epilogue would be that she settled down with her sister into a pieceful life

At one time perhaps, but I don't think so anymore. The email after her mission pretty much abandons that idea. It was probably added because of "feedback" around the time of the leak.

Everybody likes it because it goes back to that idea of Miranda having a purpose, leading a group of operatives, etc.

There's also the fact that "Miranda needs to be about something other than Oriana" was a major theme of the letters in the PAX East book, which it's clear they have taken a good look at. (Actual quote from Vertigo's letter, I believe.)
