That's what you would want?
Unless there's some prior significance I'm missing, that sounds overly
emotional for her. I figure you would prefer a beaming, pride filled
smile and a quick nod of thanks to him.

Yep, there's significance there. "I don't have what you do. That fire that makes someone willing to follow you into hell itself." And here she has it proved that she does measure up.

But...........why ? Just because it's Miranda, who you happen to like ? What if I loved Kasumi and Samara and wanted large content for both of them instead of Miranda ? Should Bioware appease me or you ? That's the issue here.

It's kind of a moot point, really, because the amount of content isn't equal anyway. Making the Cerberus story arc deeper and more layered improves the game overall, while also making characters like Miranda and Jack more integral to the story. Again, you could do it without making anyone new a squad member or really even adding new levels to the game.

The best parts of the game are almost undeniably the Genophage arc and parts of the Geth/Quarian arc because they have that layered quality.

I don't know, I felt the presence of all the characters was well-distributed throughout the game, maybe it's just my opinion of course, but I didn't feel like anyone was being actively neglected.

Still, content that truly encompasses what Miri fans want is something that I can only see happening as LOTSB-type DLC, which would be fine and dandy by me, aren't we the runner-ups at the "squad-DLC" poll :D ?

Though, I have to admit, if Miranda DLC does come, then hooooooleeeeee sheeeeeeeeeeet.............

...............I'll have to make up my mind about My Shep's true LI :o !

Before the leak, I'd hoped we'd find Miranda leading the remaining SR-2 crew on some dangerous mission. She tells them it's dangerous and Matthews pipes up and says any man here will follow her into hell. Miranda and Shep share a look before Miranda turns away to hide her tears.

Maybe they're the crew that's referenced in that message late in the game? Though I doubt they'd be capable of flying fighters...

Personally, I think the Reapers should have been left as beings with motivations beyond our comprehension. Having Cerberus' plans of how to deal with the Reapers and how it conflicts with what the Alliance wants to do with the Crucible would be much more interesting than Starkid and his Paradox Brigade.

I don't think it would work quite like that. What I think we might plausibly see is a Cerberus-oriented DLC with a couple of missions in new areas of the game, with Miranda and Jack each being central to one if they are alive. Thematically it works and would provide depth in an area of the game that needs it. And it could easily be very compelling.

Weekes was actually very talkative on the subject on twitter for about a week there, culminating in that photo of the writing team with the LI book.

Basically, one could glean the following:
-Good ideas re: Miranda in the fan book (and on the forums).
-Keep showing the support, it is what they need to see.
-Seeing Miranda and Jack in a new area is more likely than their being added in an existing area, for tech reasons.

Actually, not even "glean," that is essentially what he said.

The Alliance?

Say what you will about Cerberus, but I cared more about the original SR2 crew than the Alliance crew. They actually made the ship feel alive rather than reminding me how much I hated the war room security chekpoint. My favorite crew conversation in ME2 is between Hadley and Matthews:

Hadley: "How are we going to stop the Collectors?"

Matthews: "Don't worry, Shepard and Lawson are on it."

Agreed.

Played Miranda's loyalty mission again today. God I love the side of her that gets introduced.

I noticed Miranda said Henry created more children before Miranda, but she was the first child he kept. What do you think happened to the previous children? Those were Miranda's older brothers and sisters...they're either dead or scattered throughout the galaxy with no identification of themselves since they were shipped away at a very young age.
Also, what do you think made Miranda so special that Henry kept her?

Also agreed. It's a bit odd, since it was apparently originally intended to be the "darker," Empire Strikes Back-style portion of the trilogy, but the Normandy feels like a much more... warm/hopeful place in ME2 than in the other games.

I would say they were all killed. Henry has always struck me as the type of person who trashes his old work and begins anew if it isn't good enough.

Seeing as Miranda is the first he's kept... that could actually mean any number of things. She could have been the first one to look correct, or have the correct personality type, or not have any strange and unexpected genetic defects, etc.

@ Flemm

I have to say that Patrick Weekes, Jessica Merizan, Chris Preistly, and John Dombrow are a big part of what I like about Bioware. They're fans of what they work on and it shows.

@ o Ventus

The Alliance seems to be more interested in keeping the Council happy pre-ME3 than actually helping humanity. Ash actually has a line during the locker scene in ME1 where she says "Maybe the Alliance will get its act together and start acting like a real government." Technically, there isn't a Systems Alliance anymore since the Parliament and most of the governing body on Earth got destroyed by the Reapers.

You could extend that to the turians with Blackwatch, or the salarian STG (If you took their support), or clan Urdnot for the krogan, or the Commandos/Justicars for the asari, etc.

Ever see Alien Resurrection? The scene with all the failed clones? That.

I think every clone before Miranda failed. So they were disposed of. Miranda was kept because her genetics passed the test.

A DLC mission a la LotSB would be perfect. Though I don't see Jack teaming up to end Cerberus, she seemed pretty determined to stick wth her students. And it can be done without Shepard being a squad, it makes more sense that way even and since BW did that with Leliana's Song and a lot of people liked that DLC there is a possibility.

Weekes seems to want a ME2 character DLC and I think after the dextro team Miranda is the character with the strongest fanbase of the game, so even though I don't have my hopes up (we all know Hudson and Walters don't like her as a character), we need to support her character as long as they are bringing new content.

Well, where Jack is concerned, it could involve the biotic battalion, I guess. They exist with or without Jack, so that would be one way to make it functional and interesting in her absence.

Anyway, just a thought as to how something like that might be structured.

Here's my shot at what I thought the dialogue should have been in the apartment scene (Keep in mind I never tried writing one before)
I'll pick it up after the control chip part.

Shepard: Miranda, you don't have to feel bad about a thing...it's alright.
Miranda: Thanks, Shepard.
Shepard: Promise me you'll be careful.
Miranda: You know I can't promise that Shepard...and I know you can't promise it either.
Shepard: Trust me, we will come back to each other after this is all over.
Miranda: I admire your optimism.
Shepard: Miranda, the thought of getting to settle down with you is what keeps me going.
Miranda: Thanks Shepard...I love you.
Shepard: I love you too Miranda.
*They kiss*
Shepard: Good luck with your sister. Remember, you can contact me if you need assistance.
Miranda: I think this is something I can handle. But thanks Shepard, I'll keep that option open.
Shepard: Of course.
Miranda: And, Commander? *smiles*
Shepard: Ms. Lawson?
Miranda: Be careful...for my sake.
Shepard: You know me Miranda, I'll be fine.
Miranda: Take care Shepard, good luck with your own mission.

Probably better than the stuff we got during that real scene. The only problem is I know it sounds a bit familiar to the hologram scene on Earth. But in my canon, Miranda is with Shepard, so that holo scene should never have existed.

@bold- Given the context of the situation, I think Miranda would have reacted in a more "hard to get" (for lack of a better term) manner, yet still relatively playful.

I think my bitterness of the lack of "I love you" definitely showed. But I agree with you nonetheless. I really want them to confess their love without Miranda having to die.
How do you think Miranda would react if she wanted to keep it playful?

Flirting and a kiss. I can't really think of any dialogue right now.

I still believe an "I love you" should have been present during the final conversation on Earth (I would have also had Miranda physically present, not hologram) in-game.

That part was annoying but it was actually used as a loading of the other half of the ship since consoles don't have the memory to store everything in one place.  Meanign you can't have the war room and CIC/Map, etc loaded at the same time.
Speaking of war room I found that first part, the conference room, a waste of space IMO.  It was only used once in the entire game (meeting before Surkesh).

A different design could have been something like combining the lab + armory (room) + briefing/Comm Room into one large room which could serve as the war room area we have now.  Could have an ME1 style Briefing area with the squad in Jacobs old armory.

Man, if only we could have the post mission debriefs with the crew in ME2 like in ME1....omg.

Going off topic here though

Probably the only good scene in that entire movie...anyway yeah, I wish that was something you could see that with her in her mission on Horizon.  Show not tell.

But in ME2 you can traverse the entirety of the CIC level (CIC, cockpit, armory, tech lab) without waiting a second. So in essence, Bioware removed 1 room (armory) and changed the other (tech lab), and it actually takes MORE time to navigate. Fantastic.

Hadley: "How are we going to stop the Collectors?"

Matthews: "Don't worry, Shepard and Lawson are on it."

When I was playing on the Soldier and Sentinel versions of Thomas Shepard, I'd correct them in my head and say "Mr. & Mrs. Shepard are on it."

Honestly though, Kelly, Ken & Gabby all managed to get away from Cerberus. So I'd like to think, that until proven otherwise, the surviving crewmembers all did as well.
