Yes to going rogue (or as I like to think of it, independent). Feron can die in a fire though. Or be frozen in ice if you prefer the non-lethal version. Miranda on the ship, no exceptions.jtav wrote...
I still think it would have been more fun to go rogue ourselves. Steal the SR-2 from TIM, have Liara signing the checks, and a mixed species crew of trusted SB operatives. Feron can be XO while Miranda plots to bring TIM down.

OMG it would have been so much more fun lol.
And "OMG" is an expression I basically never use
That may actually have been the first time

Matt Rhodes one of the concept artists for ME actually did a few pieces that worked around the concept of Shepard and the squad going rogue. His idea of stealing the Normandy from Cerberus is something that would have been really cool.
Come to think of it, wouldn't Cerberus still have the blueprints needed to build SR2-class frigates? Imagine a mission where the crew launches an assault on the shipyards where the Normandy was built to keep TIM from wreaking havoc across the galaxy with a stealth frigate flotilla. Bonus points for having Miranda involved:
Cerberus Shipyard, Voyager Cluster
Shepard: There's two of them you know.
Miranda: What?
Shepard: SR2's. Intel only said there was one and a little bird told me you've got yourself a squad of your own now.
Miranda: You're going to just give me a highly-classified stealth frigate?
Shepard: Hackett's techs only want to reverse engineer it, at least you'll put it to good use. Besides, it sure beats flowers and chocolate.
Miranda: (smiles) It certainly does.

Very well, they don't have resources to make three completely different campaigns for Independent, Alliance Mongrel and Cerberus Loyalist.
But could I, at the very least, get Shepard to stop saluting and calling everyone "Sir"? Maybe an angry face or two?
Throw the dogtags at Anderson's face? Please?

I gotta admit, there's something romantic about that: Shepard and Miri together against the universe, with nothing but their brains, ship, and a loyal squad behind them! It's like what Jack said back in ME2, going space pirate.

thats been annoying me since me1 when you became a spectre and should have been out of the chain of command and, if anything, reporting to only the council.

Not quite the same when you are supposed to be a (ex?) spectre and can call on the SB at will.

Not quite gone....that's why I said "character mutilation" instead of "character assassination".flemm wrote...

I like both her sides. In fact I loved in ME2 how she started showing some emotion as the game progressed. What I hate is that in ME3 she's a purely emotional character, all her other traits were gone.
I wouldn't say they are gone, but they are insufficiently developed. Overall it's mostly a question of balance. Still a big issue, though. That said, it's not really a hard one to solve, conceptually. Being on the squad from Sanctuary to Cronos would certainly have done it. But the content of the email outlines another path that would also work.
What I'd have done is to have the first conversation with her focus on Cerberus and how she's trying to find out what they're doing and why. Shepard has talked with TIM and has some information for her, she has some information about Cerberus bases perhaps. Her father and his cooperation with Cerberus can come in in the second conversation, there's some worry about Oriana but she's safe, and Miranda keeps collecting information and running from assassins, telling Shepard she's on the trail of something big (which later proves to be Sanctuary and her father's research). Then Oriana gets kidnapped and Miranda decides she can't wait until Shepard comes to deal with Sanctuary and goes in alone. The romantic encounter happens after Sanctuary and Miranda is available as a non-squad NPC accompanying Shepard to TIM's base. At the center of TIM's base, she can be your choice for downloading the data (alternative: EDI) while Shepard fights Kai Leng. After that there's a conversation with her where it is decided whether she will take over the station and the remaining Cerberus resources or if it will all be destroyed. If Miranda takes over, all Ex-Cerberus war assets will receive an upgrade of 30% to their war assets value for a total of about 75 (30% of 260)
(The other extensions integrating Grissom and Gellix would've been even better - I replied before I read those posts)

I had envisioned something like that for after the Reapers, back when we all thought there would be a future after ME3 and it wasn't yet known that Cerberus would be a major antagonist in ME3. Something like what Miranda did after Sanctuary, only on a bigger scale and together with Shepard, MIranda switching between badass operative and onboard scientist who does the impossible with the limited means at her disposal. Yes, very romantic.fiendishchicken wrote...
