Serrice ice Brandy

Hehe, I figured that was too obvious. Plus, I never really saw Miranda as a brandy drinker.

Guys! I have a small fic-related task for you: Come up with a drink that Miranda might order at a bar. An actual name is required. THIS IS IMPORTANT STUFF.

But, yeah, basically, I could see her ordering some asari-made thing. Problem is the game doesn't really name drinks other than ryncol, which sounds like (bad) medicine (not the Bon Jovi kind). Meaning you have the opportunity to suggest a suitable drink-type along with a name.

I can see you positively salivating at the prospect!

Well I have an idea what it might look like: Image IPB maybe a shade darker in color.

As for name...um, I'm sorry, I'm terrible at names...

Why not name drinks after locations or stellar classifications?

The one above would be an "Agebinium Sunrise" or a "Red Dwarf".

I like "Agebinium Sunrise", .... a complex drink for a complex character? aha

Thank you EmeraldFern.  I quite like this!
Only thing I'm wondering is why it's so bright?

Well thing was I tried to add "poster-paper textures" to it, and I might have gone overboard on the texture's brightness....

Anyway, here's a "non-paper textue" version if anyone is interested:

Image IPB

(There is also a non-poster version without the typography and "frame graphics" again, if anyone is interested)

And expanding on what happens after this pic (100% headcanon I know, but meh):

I imagine Miranda using Slam to put Kai Leng on the floor, meantime Thane rushes forward as Kai Leng tries to get up, Thane grabs the base of his skull and jaw-bone and:

*Neck-Snap*

Followed by Miranda puttting a bullet in Leng's head.

Thane: "An unecessary precaution. Did you believe he'd get up again?"

Miranda: "Not anymore."

Yep, I totally referenced the line Miranda used after she killed Wilson (I always love that line in ME2)

[Edit]
@flemm
Oh, and naturally if the poster is eligible for the Miranda fanbook, then by all means consider it contributed!

Any discussion of a Miranda-themed drink reminds me of this scene from Casino Royale.

Yep same, watching that I imagined it was Shep and Miranda...clearly I've played ME2 too much.

In terms of submission goals, we would like to solidify the letter tally a bit. There are several pending. I'd like to see the letter count at 30 or so for the final book.

These letters can be... focused, fitting on a page like this:

If I may make a suggestion maybe you could c&p the "Why we like Miranda" section of the OP?

It's a good suggestion. There are some things that will be in the book that are not in the tally, such as a DLC wish list, introductory letter, that sort of thing. A "why we like Miranda" page is definitely a good idea.

This Web site has some interesting names for drinks.  I currently used a few as reference for my Miranda/Shepard fic I'm writing. It's from a resturant based out of vancouver...  www.boathouserestaurants.ca/drink/vancouver-restaurant-edge.php#edge

"Between the sheets"

"Hanging from the Rafters"

"Killer Zombie"

"Fresh mint Mojito"  Maybe?

You know something that would've helped a great deal in the game. To have a picture of Miranda in Sheps room. I'm a softy and i like to imagine what the characters are thinking. When my Shep finishies a big mission, if he could come back in his quarters and see this picture....i don't know, it would mean so much to me. That she is here for him, that he thinks about her, that he misses her, he is worried....damn, how hard would be to simply put a small picture.

I sort of picture Asari-made alcohol as being sweet and or fruity. The Ardat-Yakshi monastaries produce meade, Serrice Ice Brandy, and the wine that TIM orders on Cronos. You probably wouldn't run into anything made on Thessia due to the concentration of element zero in everything on the planet.

@ Kratos

A picture would have been nice and it's the sort of thing that I'd expect Shepard to have in his cabin. It would be nice to have it as a memento rather than a "cheat indicator".

It would be very nice indeed.
But why we can't have it: same reason why there was no flashback: Lazyness

Flemm, the book is turning out great, let's hope we can get 30 letters. =] And how's the DLC wishlist going to be? You're putting together the discussions we've had here and on #FindMiranda?

Yep. Everyone will get a chance to review that type of thing here prior to printing, but it will certainly take into account our discussions and so on.

I'm really happy with how it's coming together. Basically, I'd like to see us beef up the letter count, and then we will be good to go overall.

I'm sorry that "Masks and Mirrors" stayed unfinished. I haven't given up on it completely - the problem was that the file with the complete chapter 3 plus a romance scene from chapter 4 was destroyed when my HDD had a hiccup and my USB stick went defective on the same day. Demotivation set in, and then my betaing and co-plotting for DoI took up way too much space in my mind.

That's too bad :(. I was interested in seeing where you were going to go with it. I can't judge though since I haven't done any writing since around that time either.

What difference does it make? First off remember the compartmentalized cell nature of Cerberus. Despite working there for 20 years there's no guarantee she's come into contact with more than two or three dozen people. And there's nothing that says she didn't use a code name when part of earlier cells (maybe during the operative days). I've previously stated that she used other code names when on missions but she could easily have used them within an operative cell as well.
And what does knowing her name really do, even if we are talking outsiders and enemies of Cerberus? It's a big galaxy. Probably millions of Miranda Lawsons at least. Finding one specifically is ridiculously difficult, even if they connect her to her father. I get why you would compare her with Sarah Walker but the sheer scale of their worlds, space vs Earth and Cerberus vs CIA throws most of that out the window. Even if all her aliases got burned, there are limitless places in the galaxy she can hide and limitless more options for redisguise. For all intents and purposes she's nearly as untouchable as the Illusive Man himself.

If she used an alias when she was working in other cells, why revert to her real name on Lazarus? Given that Lazarus would put her into close contact with so many non-Cerberus affiliated assets, it sould seem logical that if there was ever a project where she should be using an alias it would be Cerberus.

As for the galaxy being bigger, obviously there's more places to hide in an entire galaxy than on one planet but the human population really hasn't grown that much. There may be many more sapient beings in the galaxy but the number of humans has only increased by 100% at most (I believe the codex states around 11 billion). If you factor in that the world Miranda inhabits is much more networked and technology is many times more advanced than in our world, I'd venture that it'd be easier for somebody with enough technology, contacts, and knowhow to track her down.

IRL, one government official leaking Valerie Plame's identity as a CIA agent was considered such a serious security breach that it almost resulted in another Watergate. Miranda's identity being leaked would cause even more damage to the organization she works for because in addition to all the run-of-the-mill enemies Cerberus has made, it's at the top of the hit list for every law enforcement agency in the galaxy. Cerberus is basically the al-Qaeda of the Mass Effect universe in terms of notoriety, even in ME2. There is no shortage of rival groups, wealthy individuals, and governments who would devote massive resources to finding a ****** in Cerberus' armour to take them down.

However small a ****** Miranda's laissez-faire attitude towards hiding her identity may be, it's a potentially fatal one for both herself and Cerberus. Considering how easy it would be to hide her identity, I find it very difficult to believe someone as careful and coldly competent as Miranda wouldn't take that precaution.

Asari-themed? I thought this had something to do with Miranda? Anyway, I'm not the best person to ask about asari-themed stuff. I might come up with something like "The Consort's lack of distance". Or make a rule that all asari drinks have to be blue and have "Azure" in their name.

She definitely would take that precaution, and I still find Bioware's refusal to acknowledge that even in passing a failure whose effect is all out of proportion to the effort it would've taken to give her a cover name. It would've been so incredibly easy. Just name her father something different. That would've retconned "Miranda Lawson" to a cover name without any bad side effects except that Oriana names herself Lawson as well in her ME2 mail.

Bioware. Sometimes they're really brilliant, but their sense for subtlety equals a sledgehammer's.
