Great work, Aliqaiser. =D
Yeah, beautiful images. I don't really have much to add in terms of comments, but the third one in particular is amazing.
Yes beautiful art work, Aliqaser. The third one is very beautiful. Really, really, beautiful.

I see her preference as normally trying to avoid complications like torture and seduction but if it's necessary or the most expedient method in a time sensitive mission she'll do it. Despite her appearance and her outfits, I feel like the impression of the character we were supposed to get was that her greatest strength is her intelligence and her versatility in utilizing it. She's perfectly capable of switching gears from scientist to administrator to combat biotic completely seamlessly. Other characters might be better at individual roles, but Miranda's adaptability is what sets her apart.
Regarding specifically the issue of Miranda "cheating" on Shepard to accomplish a mission, I think she'd avoid it if she could but if she felt it was absolutely necessary she wouldn't hesitate to sleep with someone else. That said, I can't see that many scenarios where she would have to go all the way. The power of seduction is that by exploiting the desire of men to sleep with her, she can manipulate them until she gets what she needs. Once she's allowed them to sleep with her, they've gotten what they wanted. At that point Miranda would have to gamble on them continuing to want to sleep with her in the future to continue to string them along. Going from seduction to actual sex would seem to result in a loss of effectiveness when it comes to manipulating a target.

I also don't really see Miranda as being an agent who works in the same capacity as Kai Leng. I sort of imagine her as being TIM's "fixer", when a cell either fails to achieve their goal or something goes awry (see Cerberus missions in ME1) she gets sent in.

This is what I've always imagined. It explains her knowledge of the rachni, thorian creepers, and husks, and the incident on the flotilla when they were apparently all carried out by different cells.

Hmm, yeah, I've never really thought of it that way, but it does make sense.

Actually, Kai Leng can be quite subtle. Sure, he is not the agent you want to send to infiltrate anything; especially if it involves aliens; but if the mission is to assassinate or capture someone, he can do it without anyone being any the wiser as evidenced by "Retribution".fongiel24 wrote...
Yeah, Kai Leng seems like little more than an enforcer. He's very good at the one thing he's trained, equipped, and upgraded for but I doubt he can work with the same subtlety that Miranda can. TIM sends out Kai Leng when he's taking a scorched earth approach.
Sadly, Cerberus is anything but subtle in ME3. They couldn't be more obviously evil if they tried. Hell, their agents meant to infiltrate the Citadel have visible Reaper technology on their faces.

Kai Leng is capable of missions that require infiltration instead of a head-on assault but he still wouldn't be my first choice for anything delicate. His skills primarily revolve around killing and his personality is too bloodthirsty and impatient for me to trust him to keep the bodycount to a minimum.
*Highlight to see spoilers for Retribution*
If I remember correctly, even his snatch-and-grab mission on Grayson resulted in a gunfight and Aria's daughter getting her throat cut. I might just be saying this because I'm a Miranda fan but I think Miranda would have found a way to complete the mission without having to kill anyone. It wouldn't be because Miranda has a strong moral objection to killing but rather that she'd be trying to avoid the complications of a bloodbath (like accidentally killing the child of a notorious crime boss you might have to deal with later).

Second in Command could just mean that Miranda had greater access to the inner workings of Cerberus than most operatives while TIM knows about all ongoing projects.

Yes, and this is what I mean by Kai Leng wouldn't be my first choice for anything that requires a delicate touch with a minimal footprint.

As long as there's any hope of fixing the situation in the first place. I have a hard time seeing Miranda do a lot "emergency shutdowns".Dr. Doctor wrote...

I haven't been reading much fanfic latey, but I just read yours and I'm really liking it so far, especially the last chapter since I love angst. If you'd like I can elaborate a review and send to you via PM.

I can't resist.
It can also be argued that Kai Leng running into that box of Captain Crunch was just bad luck, but if he'd attempted a strategy that didn't involve breaking into Anderson's apartment and eating every bowl of cereal in his way, he never would have made that mistake. He's a high fructose corn syrup addict, and if he keeps leaving empty cereal boxes everywhere, eventually he will mistakenly eat something TIM would probably he rather not eat, like TIM's last box of Flintstones Fruity Pebbles.
Sorry, but Dietz destroyed my ability to take him seriously as a villain. And that e-mail he sends you in ME3 just makes it worse. I've been trolled worse than that by junior high schoolers. TIM is a villain. Leng is like a bug who annoys you b/c he just won't sit still long enough for Shepard to step on him.

Agreed. And ME3's presentation of Kai Leng isn't much better than Dietz'. He does things like killing Thane and stealing the Prothean VI, but he has no presence. As a Dragon he's a joke.drwells123 wrote...

Different situations. Threats and torture work if the targets are already in your power. Seduction works if they're not and if the goal is to keep them unaware of what's going on.Dr. Doctor wrote...
Miranda doesn't really strike me as the sort of person who would readily resort to seduction. To me at least she's more apt to resort to the "gun and a kind word" approach to achieving her goals or if that doesn't work torture's always an option.
