Well then if Miri is not the most underrated ME character who is?

I'd have to go with either Mordin, Jacob or Samara.

I don't think Mordin Counts as underrated. He was voted best new character of 2010 on IGN. I think Legion is the most underrated. Miranda is also pretty neglected by some fans too.

Miranda imo doesnt even come close to being the most underated Mass effect charecter. think its morinth and jacob. brely anyone picks to save morinth and others are really bored by jacob.

miri haters ususally tend to be shep fan boys who dont like it when they are challenged by a squadmate or NPC.its an ego thing imo. and miranda clearly dosent bow down to shepard just because hes the big uber awsome savior.

That's exactly what I'm thinking. Corroborated by the fact that there is significant overlap between people who like Miranda and people who like Ashley. Even though they're extremely different in personality, they're both strong women who know what they want and challenge their partners. Tali fans are much more likely to dislike Miranda, and vice versa. Statistically supported btw - in XX55XX's character poll V5 there is the second-strongest negative correlation between people who like Tali and people who like Miranda. The only stronger one is between Thane and Zaeed.

It's the whole control chip thing I think. Personally, I thought that idea kinda makes sense if you're gonna spend that much money on performing something that hasn't been done before. Who's to say how Shepard would have reacted when he woke up. I guess it would have been like a back up plan. But I can understand (obviously) why people are annoyed by the suggestion, but that's no reason to brand someone as a 'b*tch'. I saw her as being a little cold, but it's understandable considering the circumstances. Plus I think I'd be a little annoyed if someone I hardly knew was asking all about my background and what not (though that might just be me...) I agree that it's strange one converstaion can have such a dramitc effect on a character's following. It's a shame that people brand her simply because of that moment. Miranda is a character who becomes more interesting as the story plays out, but if people already have it in their head that they don't like her, I think it's their loss.

I understand what you mean about 'making her human'. The infertility was completely out of the blue and a surprise for me.... But you don't need these traits to give her 'character development'...I don't want Miranda to be more human. I prefer calculated and confident over being all warm and emotional any day because that's just how I personally see her character.

And don't get me started on the Paragon romance....no thanks. I have to play it as a renegade.

(And as I read that line I heard 'don't get me started about unshackling a damned AI'...ha!)

i certainly didn't like the control chip moment, but killing wilson had already done a lot for her in my estimation. once on the nrmandy and conversations start she becomes more interesting, topped of by the best LM. i play the renegade lines because they generally fit better, are more teasing/playful and are far more natural for the most-part.

I kind of like Tali--well, before the squad reveals, but my feelings for Miranda are more complex than usual. I like Miranda as a strong female character unreservedly, though.

I'd like her to own her gifts. Intelligence, strength and beauty are good regardless of how she got them. No Harrison Berger treatment, please. I think the best thing is to leave "advancement of humanity" vague so that neither transhumanists no conservatives are throwing. things. Because Ieldra wants exactly what I don't.

I think this is one of main dividing lines between Ashley and Miranda. Ashley is decidedly traditionalist, so it would be appropriate for the game to acknowledge the potential for transhumanism that lies in Miranda's origin. Liara already does with her line in LotSB. Miranda's really not the character you'd expect traditionalists to be attracted to. So rather than keeping it vague, I'd prefer an explicit acknowledgement as the standard, perhaps avoidable by making certain decisions.

No offense, jtav, but I want an option for an ending that snubs traditionalist bio-ethics. I don't mind you getting another option, but I want this one.

Listening to what Casey H is saying at Comic Con at the moment, I'm growing more and more hopeful that Miranda's gonna have a bigger role to play. Especially considering the Illusive Man is having a bigger role in ME3, I'd love to see how Miranda would be involved in this...March is too far away.

Squadmates will be leaving and rejoining the party depending on how the story's going. There will be issuses and conflicts with squad members as well, say if they don't agree with what you're doing. Also, they are adding in a feature to just be friends with allies, rather than automatically upgrading to an LI, which will be interesting.

The Illusive Man has a bigger role than his role in ME2. Sorry, I'm trying to remember what he said...I'm just getting distracted by the gameplay. :/

That is interesting, considering he was so prominent in ME2. Bear with me: could he be a party member late in the game, like Loghain.

That would be wierd...he doesn't seem like the type that fights, rather someone who has others do the fighitng for him (operatives).

Loghain was not only a general but was dressed in armor & weapon.
TIM in ME2 usually just sat on his chair with his drink in one hand and a cigarette in another.

He fights in the books. He might even be mutually exclusive with Miranda.

Really? I must have not seen it as memorable then.
I remember more about Kai Leng fighting for him more than TIM fighing.

It was one book and series of comics. In the comics, he was an okay fighter.

In Retribution, it was less about fighing, and more about "Oh, crap, oh, crap. I'm going to get caught," and shooting desperately at anything that moved until Kai Leng saved his ass.

The last page didn't even have any pics of Miranda. Time to change that (And do some shameless self promotion as well)

Yeah I believe we were talking more in line with current TIM and not younger TIM.

First of all: I approve this thread, and just about everything that the OP has written.

I'd love to have back as a permanent squadmate (no less) Miranda for the exact reasons that have been stated like a hundred thousand times before, so I'd rather not list them again. I would be very upset, however, if she would just return in a cameo role (like Liara in ME2 before LotSB; two little assignments, a few tears if you dug into it, and that was it), or even a temporary squadmate joining for a few missions.

This is the last game of the trilogy, so the concept should be that they bring back the squadmates, who have the best potencial. And if Kaiden/Ashley can be back, then who'd dare to say Miranda doesn't deserve it?

+100 cookies for you :wizard:

(although technically VS can't die; ie: you can't have both Kaidan and Ashley dead your save, so it's easier for the Devs to work on those who can't die before ME3 starts.  BUT I like your enthusiasm nonetheless)

That could work in favour for Miri's odds because she was one of the harder squadmates to kill in the suicide mission, and I think she had the one of the best chances for survival, unless you absolutely wanted her to die. Actually, now that I think about  it, she can't die if the Normandy wasn't upgraded at all. I think the only real way you could kill her was if you made her go in the vents or if she was chosen for the biotic field or you didn't have her loyalty. And you would have to be really stupid to have done that, unless you were trying to get her killed for some reason.

She was the hardest to kill because you could play the game in such a way that she was the only one available for the biotic bubble stage.
