As far as I'm aware, wasn't it BioWare that didn't contact Beattie? I seem to recall he even made an appeal to fans so he could return as Mordin.

He did, but that could mean a lot of things. They might have tried to work something out, but disagreed on money or whatever.

I am in one of those "How much chaos can I wreak in a single game of Mass Effect?" moods and trying to kill time before the EC. We;re talking about the kind of game where Tali survives the SM so she can watch her race die" kind of deal. So which is worse: death by breakup for Miranda or romancing Jack only to forget to do Grissom? I'm leaning towards death by breakup because I can always get Jack Phantomed anyway. Or I could romance Tali and then drive her to suicide.

I vote romance Tali and then drive her to suicide. That is CRUEL. But then again so is her hero-worshiping you and loving you from afar only for you to kill off her entire people. I'm torn. Maybe death by break up then.

Tongue partly in cheek: The easiest fix for the romance is to get Dombrow to write it. Since he currently has me squeeing over Garrus, I'd love to see him handle Miranda.

Yes. Just replaying the genophage plot which he also wrote. "Eve" is almost convincing me to cure it in spite of having been determined not to because of Wreave.

Come to think of it, Miranda interacting with Eve is a great way to integrate her infertility into the character and story instead of making it a sympathy card.

Part of what I despise about Miranda's role in this game is how fundamentally dishonest it is.

Fact: She is being condemned for crimes we never see her commit, and that she denies committing in ME2. She has simply been declared guilty by association with Cerberus behind closed doors in between games. But they are afraid to say that openly because too many people like her.

So, in essence, she is condemned to death without a trial, then pardoned for no other reason than death being the only option would have pissed too many people off.

Justice is not done either way. There has to be a trial, and the question of Miranda's responsability for her involvement with Cerberus had to be addressed openly in the game itself. This is part of what people mean when they say there had to be a "Cerberus Arc," and there isn't one.

The infertility is also like that. An idea that adds an entirely new element to the character, and could mean any number of different things, has to be addressed in the game, not introduced in a text file in between games, and then referred to only obliquely in a death scene.

It's dishonest and an insult to my intelligence.

I probably would have been a little more colorful with my wording, but basically, this.

Miranda never really had much to say about the genophage in ME2, did she? I kinda wish they had a bit more of the ME3-style post-mission talk stuff along with the open-ended conversations in ME2.

It's funny, because we were promised deeper interaction with each person on the ship.

My meaning of "deeper interaction" must be off, because I don't consider the Zaeed and Kasumi-styled nonversations (Because face it, they aren't conversations) to be deep at all, or even interaction.

Plus half of these talks were a comedy show anyway...

Yeah, I called it 'talk stuff' for a reason. Problem is that a lot of the time you were just hearing similar thoughts about each mission. "They were doing bad things", "Reapers are scary and I don't like them", "It's a shame that person died", "It was good that we killed those bad guys"

I remember back in ME1+2, your squadmates actually gave you their opinion on the missions you took them on.

But I forgot, ME1+2 aren't the best games for newcomers to start on. What stupid newcomer starts at the beginning of the story? Or at least  (Since I know PS3 people don't have access to ME1) as early as they can, with the Genesis comic?

The only thing worse would have been a forced death. I'd forego the little romance content there is for seeing Miranda at Cronos Station.

Sometimes they did. Possibly more in ME1. In ME3 they nearly always had something to say...but it wasn't always insightful or interesting. I did like the funny exchanges though. You always need some levity.

It's definitely a level of interaction (even if basic) that should've featured more, especially looking at how varied ME2 could be thanks to the cast and types of missions.

Okay, if Miranda was a squad member, where would you put her interactive talks? For myself:

1. Sur'Kesh
2. Post-coup
3. Sanctuary
4. Cronos

I said "the missions you took them on" for a reason.

So long as they were with you at the time, they comment on it.

Put Tuchanka and Rannoch on there as well, they carry the heaviest decisions you can make in this game.
