The literary technique that tied the destruction of the One Ring with the fall of Barad Dur or, more appropriatelly, the diminishing of the Three Elven Rings works as well in Mass Effect as it worked in the Lord of the Rings.

If your problem is that it is scientifically implausible, all three endings suffer of that and the destruction of the geth is a mere drop in the ocean of all scientific implausibility that has existed in the ME universe since the very first game.

People just want to be able to win without having to dirt their Shepard's hands. Damn Paragons.

I'd just return to the old leak consequences and exposition. That was pretty good and I considered all choices viable. Though I wouldn't say no to high EMS scenarios being stupidly happy in all endings.

As for Miranda, I lean toward the Foundation scenario. Earth needs scientists and people who will help rebuild. I don't want her to settle down and become "normal." If Shep survives don't mention kids. If he's dead or she is unromanced, I think creating her own via Lawson tech is great.

Bioware is deciding what happens.

No it doesn't. Fantasy means you can make whatever bull**** you want laws of the universe. The rings being linked (with magic) was already established. There is no such link or the possibility of one in Mass Effect. It's also easier to add further bull**** in fantasy because, hey AWizardDidIt. Not so in sci-fi. You can only suspend your disbelief so much.

Literary technique is insignificant next to an ending that makes some goddamn sense.

Of course, none of the endings do. They are pure ****.

That aside, you want a choice other than destroy to be picked? Give more incentive to do so. Don't just throw in arbitrary bull**** and call it a "hard choice".

It probably wouldn't happen very often. And never in public. But in private... with Shepard... Yeah I'll throw down the dice for "horny".

Getting your hands dirty has nothing to do with it. Shepard could be a sociopath up to that point and it would still be arbitrary nonsensical bull****.

In ME1 I sacrificed the Council. My Shepard knew taking out Sovereign had to happen at all costs. By focusing fire on Sovereign we left the Council open to attack. Even if the sacrifice was ultimately unnecessary (we could've taken out Sovereign regardless) the logic was there, the call was correct given the information at hand. I don't think anyone would complain "well why don't I concentrate fire AND save the Council". I made a sacrifice, but it made sense to do so.
