The thing about Cerberus is... it's the thing people *really* care about and *really* disagree about. More than the Reapers, more than the Genophage, more than any other aspect of the series. Therefore it should have been the most powerful, enthralling part of the game.

Instead they went from legitimately ambiguous in ME2, to being the Sith Empire.

Yeah, or worse really. You can roleplay as Sith. The Reapers end up being presented with more ambiguity than Cerberus, hilariously enough. And they wipe out the entirety of galactic civilisation repeatedly.

Honestly, that's the LAST thing I wanted with the Reapers. Ambiguity. I don't think it's asking too much for a villain who's evil, just for the sake of being evil (Or for some other self-preservational motivation). Really, they either should have left the Reapers' motivations up for speculations, or went with the reasonably popular fan theory of procreation.

It's like everyone and their mom nowadays is creating a sympathetic villain (Rather, trying to create one, but monumentally flopping in the process).

Yeah, really. It's comical how much better the Suicide Mission is than Priority: Earth. I remember how much I was looking forward to ME3 when I finished ME2 originally last summer (took a while getting around to it).

You know, for Priority: Earth being the "plling all the stops" moment from what is supposed to be the epic finale of an epic trilogy, it was incredibly underwhelming.

Dare I say, boring (And just downright not very fun at certain points). The Hades Cannon segment had me groaning every 30 or so seconds due to the nauseous screen shaking, and defending the Thanix missiles was basically multiplayer-lite horde mode. Really, I liked the trench run, and little else. The goodbyes were decent (the face-to-face ones, anyway, the holovids were utterly disappointing) but the random turret section just shattered any emotional tension that may have been building up to that point.

Yeah and I was expecting to fight alongside Miranda during the earth battle (and before that) .. but no, boring mission with boring people.

Right.

We're unable to see Jacob's insane kill count (har har), or Grunt with Aralakh Company, or Samara doing her thing, or Zaeed with his mercenaries, or anything.

One thing that The Old Republic did really well is that it really gives a different look at the Sith. I play as an Imperial Agent and his storyline reminds me a lot of Cerberus. Imperial Intelligence is what stands between the Sith Lords and the citizens of the Empire, they direct the attention of the Dark Council and the other Lords elsewhere so that their constant plotting and infighting doesn't  end up destroying their civilization. Meanwhile, they pose as being loyal servants of the Council to avoid suspicion.

TOR was Drew Karpyshyn's last game with Bioware and he has a really interesting view of the whole Sith/Jedi conflict. If anyone is interested in the Star Wars exapanded universe I recommend his books about Darth Bane.

*sigh*

This brings home how much better the SM was than Priority: Earth. I can't be the only one who expected an SM-like mechanic, only with fleets and armies. Bioware really dropped the ball with their latest endgame missions. First DA2, now ME3, and that's not even counting the actual ending sequence. Perhaps DAO and ME2 set the standards too high.

I think I've become sort of addicted to Miranda screens with this lighting.

Here's another one, made in high-res and with switched outfits at the same place (Freedom's Progress):

I've also played an Imperial Agent and I really enjoyed the story. This Sith Empire is clearly more ambiguous and interesting than the one in the movies.

It's Alexander Freed who wrote the Imperial Agent story. I've talked to him last year during the meet and greet event in Paris. We had a long and very interesting conversation about his work.
I wish he could have worked on ME3.

She is awesome, but i honestly think anyone you romanced in ME2 should be that extra add on party member in ME3, so in your case miranda. Mine would be nobody, or in one playthrough jack.

I would have been very content with non-team Miranda had her story arc done justice to her and had she ended up on Cronos Station with the option to destroy it or to take over and bring ex-Cerberus resources to bear against the Reapers.

Re: lack of a Cerberus arc, one thing the lack of one did was turn Miranda into a pretty horrible human being. There's no remorse, no introspection. She doesn't care about anything but Ori or romanced Shepard. And she should care. She need not flagellate herself, but she should care about the Reapers and Cerberus. Instead we get her worrying about her sister. Of course I appreciate more Miranda content but I don't really care about Ori, not when I'm trying to save everyone's family. What BW perceives as growth, I see as degeneration.

Thank God for the email.

One thing Miranda could have taken from Ashley: Care about the lost family (yes, as a writer I would have killed Oriana) but remain strong and fight against what's important.

If it would have allowed Miranda's character to remain intact in ME3 I would have killed Oriana too.
Damn it's so frustating to see how her character was mutilated.

I would have made Oriana's survival dependent on player choice.

Also agreed on that.
You know what? I would have made it count if you let Miranda stay in contact with Oriana in ME2.
When Miranda tries to save her (mid-game, not the third-last mission) she is unable to be saved due to the danger this contact caused. True tragedy.

Well technically her survival or death depends on your choice but I perfectly see your point.
Even if it is constraining in terms of role-play, a canon death could have been conceivable, it could have occured in-between ME2&3 or at the beginning of ME3 with Miranda probably devastated but still seeing the bigger picture.
I don't like it but I don't like what we have now even more.

Dear God, no. Forced deaths for characters that have potential to be likeable (Emily Wong, Kal'Reegar, Charr, et al) ****** me off more than anything.

Unless that characters exists for the sole purpose of being killed off (Tarquin Victus, Urdnot Dagg, et al), don't make it mandatory.

Mee too Lemon, forced death in this kind of game is silly but if it preserved ME2 Miranda, I'd take it.
BTW, how did Emily Wong die? It's a shame Reegar died, he probably was the only Quarian I liked a lot.
