I just completed the Suicide Mission again. I have to say, I love the scenes where Shepard saves Miranda from falling to death after the Human Reaper. And then Miranda returns the favor by pulling him on the Normandy.
Suicide Mission is one of the best ever in Mass Effect.
I've done the Suicide Mission a few times and its always Miranda whom I save from falling and who pulls me onto the ship. Will it always be your LI if you brought them on that half of the mission or am I just having really good odds here?
No, not always. I always bring Jack and Miranda to the suicide mission. More often then not it is Jack whom I save from falling, even though my romance is always Miranda. It just depends on which place they take on the team (A or
Haha, I remember the first time I played through Mass Effect 2. I was literally screaming at my computer screen when Miranda was sliding away. "Catch her Shepard!!" Ah, good times...

@kaymarierose: When I saw her sliding away during my first playthrough I got stressed too. Fortunately Shepard was there.

I believe Shepard and the squadmate on the right side of the(...uh...you know) always save each other. I think dying changes them around, from what I've heard. Good thing Miranda was already on the right side.

Is there any sort of penalty if Miranda doesn't give you the location of the Cerberus Base due to her being dead?
If Hackett tracked down the Cerberus HQ, he'll add that the losses will be higher because the Illusive Man knows that they'll attack.
Whether that actually changes anything or it's just talk, I don't know.

Well I did run some tests on that (get advantage or not) and all it did was add 7 points to the 5th Fleet if you had the advantage vs not having it (no change)
5th fleet is the one that attacks Cronos base btw

Or it's bugged and it's suppose to subtract 7 when you don't have the advantage?
Hah wouldn't it be interesting if the EC had a video on that, show the ships getting destroyed if no advantage vs fewer if you have the advantage...like in the first part of ship battle over Earth. Though that might be asking for a lot.

Maybe they didn't want to hurt players who didn't have her. Although that's a small number since she's alive in all non-imports and most imports. Even if she dies you still get the location. It's only if she's shot or not there that you don't get it right?flemm wrote...

Actually, I think it's less about points and more about narrative. Let's compare Miranda with Jack. Much less screentime and Jack still only gives you 25 points, but the feel of Grissom is different. Prangley dies, the kids are subdued and frightened, and Kahlee gives a different reccomendation. But Sanctuary doesn't feel very different. No sense of "wow I'm missing out" if Miranda is absent. You get the impression that her purpose is her death scene.

If you throw him against a wall enough times, sure. But you don't need Biotics to do that. There is not known method to directly affect someone's mind with Biotics tough I imagine, theoretically, it would not be impossible to create Mass Effect fields inside someone.MASSEFFECTfanforlife101 wrote...

Miranda has the same purpose as Thane: Leng chow.
I thought that purpose belonged to the box of Honeycombs.

However, there is a order of priority regarding who helps Shepard back on the ship. Miranda is at the very top so, if she is on the team, she will always be the one who helps Shepard.

That would make the differences between scenarios more noticeable. We should probrably have campaigned for this.Vertigo_1 wrote...

I could directly walk over to her apartment without invite and some marker on the map right after that conversation... may be wrong, though.MASSEFFECTfanforlife101 wrote...

That's what I did my first playthrough....but I'm not sure if I missed out on an email or not.

You still get the tracer, though, in that scenario (you only miss out if you fail to interrupt/persuade). So... meh. The tracer having an impact would actually make more sense given the overall flow of things. I'm not really sure why they decided against it.
