Just finished ME3... again. Shepard picked destroy... again. Remembering the feelings of emptiness, despair, and depression after beating the game originally... again. And according to Hudson, this end was supposed to make you feel hopeful. Which I don't. The only ending I'll accept for my Shepard is my headcanon, one where he; 1) survives 2) has a meaningful reunion with Miranda 3) Normandy isn't stuck on Gilligan's planet 4) Mass Relays and Geth/EDI aren't destroyed 5) Reapers are destroyed or driven off 6) Cerberus and Illusive Man are vindicated in Shepard's eyes. I worked my ass off to get a perfect ending, and I'm giving it to him dammit. BTW the above is also a brief bit of background to my fanfic I'm writing.

I agree almost completely.
I'm a happy endings kind of guy myself. I want my reuinion and the Reapers to be driven off.
But I'm not sure if we'll get EVERYTHING that makes a happy ending. If Shepard dies in the other two, there would have to be some form of drawback like EDI or the Geth dying. 

Kill off my Garrus, Tali, Jack, and a few others, take your pick. Javik, Kaidan, and Jacob are immune to this effect. 
Garrus is Sheps bro, having the best friend die is probably gonna happen. Can't stand Tali. Jack, I think will have a heroic death protecting her students. The survivors: I like Javik too much, Kaidan is hard to explain, I just don't feel right killing him, and Jacob is going to be a dad (a personal thing, a very close friend of mine was killed in OEF 3 years back, he left his wife 6 months pregnant with their son. It's taken a toll on her, and this is a close subject to me, so Jacob lives.) Hell, kill Hackett if you want, and if you so choose, kill EDI. I like her, but her death would be thematically.

Eh, I couldn't kill Wrex and Garrus.
I wouldn't mind Tali or Jack dying, for the same reasons you listed above.  You're right about Jacob, the "Dead parent" thing is always tough to swallow. I wouldn't mind seeing the VS die. Kaidan could die a hero...Ashley could die of a cough, I don't care.
Liara's death would be nice if possible, though given Walters is writing, it's not going to happen at all.  If Javik died, it would be heroic especially if he mentioned the Protheans as a rally cry. Though I wouldn't want Javik to die.
I wouldn't mind seeing James die though.
As far as Miranda goes...you know. I want her and Shepard reuinited in destroy.

Well for my Fanfic, I have the Citadel as being the true heart of Harbinger. The Reapers themselves are independent, but bound by the will of Harby to do his bidding. I have Shepard confronts starbrat, finds out that he was a puppet of Harby's making, and that Harby was trying to trick him into picking an option to kill his own people. The Crucible is a Reaper trap. Its overcome when Shepard fights indoctrination with the help of Anderson and TIM, both of whom sacrifice themselves to get Shepard to win the mental fight. Shep looks into the mind of the Reapers and finds out that once the central nerve of Harby is destroyed (ala the Citadel) the Reapers will lose coherence, leaving them disorganized and vulnerable to face the might of the combined fleets of the entire galaxy (something that was understated) One Reaper similar to Sovereign and Harby, whom I call Venator, takes a small number of Reapers and leads them away from the galaxy swearing vengeance upon Shepard and the Council races. Shepard survives via last second rescue by the Normandy, and Shepard is pulled aboard by none other than Miranda (I have a whole sublplot going on about the space battle and Earth, which includes how Miranda comes aboard.) This is basically how I replace the ending. Of course, my fanfic is pretty ambitious, as it goes back to ME2 and the conclusion is, well, some point after ME3's conclusion. 

As for who lives and dies; for living, I have Miri, Jacob, Kaidan, Kasumi, James, Javik, Liara (I actually think her and Javik would make an awesome pair), Wrex, Samara, Grunt, and Zaeed. Garrus, Tali, and Jack all die, with mr being on the fence about EDI.

- One at EMS 7190, acheived through getting the bulk of War Assets and MP promotions.

- One at EMS 12,000, acheived by going in to Gibbed's Save Editor and making Miranda worth 4810 EMS points. (For Science!)

Anyways, with the EC a day or so away, How do you want Shep to finish with Miranda?

For me, I want a deeply passionate reunion and then the posibilty of them starting a life together, even with Ori present. I think anything more would go a bit too far. I can head canon whatever else they have together. I would really like to see...

*Shep and Miri embrace* *Miri sheds a tear*

Shep: I promised you I wouldn't, Miss Lawson.

If Control and Synthesis are chosen, or whatever the hell else there is, and Shep is dead, I want to see her mourning his death, maybe with someone trying to comfort her. I don't really know who else? Ori again? Maybe Tali or Ash? ANYONE but Liara for me. I was so pissed at seeing her as my final thought, I don't want her near Miri again.

I'm hoping for some hint that Miranda goes on to found a reformed version of Cerberus. TIM's line on Cronos gave me a little hope that such a thing was possible:
