We might view the significance of life differently but I don't think the disconnect leads to dictatorship or extermination at all. It leads to indifference. Are you particularly interested in ruling ants? Or destroying them? That's how it'd see it (never mind the Avengers and the ant-boot business). It might start out as a benevolent protector but eventually it just wouldn't care anymore. It would have other goals and it would go off to pursue them. That's how I see it. I see its interaction with us following the exact same path as Dr. Manhattan. Including romantic interest. It would try to love Miranda. But eventually yes, even this would be disconnected.MisterJB wrote...
On Shepard's side, I feel that his disconnect from his people can easily lead to a well meaning dictator or even the renewal of the Cycle (not to mention stopping to love Miranda, that is the trutragedy). On Miranda's side, I feel it matches her character; Cerberus would not abyde by the tyranny of the Council; and it portrays her as strong.
I vehemently disagree with this interpretation. Obviously I would never accept it. But I don't think that's what's happening anyway. I think they're just gathering information. The first thing we see in the control epilogue is Reapers rebuilding the relays. I doubt he also sent a Reaper up to Hacket to say "it's me lol!". Also the Miranda slide occurs fairly early. So Reapers crawling all over relays, no one knows what they're up to yet, people are still going to be uneasy. I think Miranda and Oriana are just gathering intel and yes, looking for weaknesses and devising a strategy in case the Reapers become a problem again. But it has nothing to do with Shepard.MisterJB wrote...
Also, Miranda plotting to take Control away from Shepard makes it a more distinct ending from Destroy or
Synthesis and one could also imagine she is not planning to kill Shepard. Only separate him from the Reapers.

Hah, this never even occured to me. Knew I could count on you for the "enlightement" approach.Ieldra2 wrote...
Another possibility is that she wants to learn the Reapers' secrets. She's not a woman to be easily denied, even by the galactic guardian.

Plus, I think Meer's voice fits Vanderloo's face nicely, and he's (no ******) a good looking guy. Miranda and Sheploo look nice together.

So it is Ori? Yay for Miranda and Jacob being close being sorta acknowledged.
It certainly seems to be. Perhaps we can find the slide in the files. It's name might be enlightening. But I think it's them.

ReaperShepard makes it quite clear that he shares Shepard's purpose, even if he looks at it differently.CrutchCricket wrote...

It's cool, it fits Miranda, it's distinct from Destroy and Synthesis.CrutchCricket wrote...

I think the two are fundamentally different entities. The holokid was a construct, an AI built and programmed specifically to deal with the "problem" of organics-synthetics (and in an ironic twist/further trolling turned against its creators). Commander on the other hand is guided by the persona of a living being and already guided away from the restrictions of its predecessor (it doesn't say "I will be on guard againts the problem arising again" or something) There is no evidence one way or another that it agrees with the holokid on the nature of the problem.MisterJB wrote...
The Catalyst managed to retain its focus on the organic-synthetic conflict for billions of years.

For me, Miranda is waiting anxiously the return of the rescue team who have just found Shepard in the Citadel wreckage.
So my Shepard did not break his promise.
Well, thing is, this showed up when I did Destroy with high EMS. Otherwise when picking Control or Synthesis you don't see this.
With that showing and then at the end having Shep take a breath, yeah I can see what you mean about waiting for him
Oh and the file for Miranda and Oriana studying the Reaper in control ending is:
End03_C_FlashForward_MirandaBase
Wonder what base this could be...hmm perhaps Sanctuary?

It's already different with just the general cautiousness of keeping an eye on the Reapers. They were just trying to kill you. Now they're inexplicably helping. Obviously you're not just going to accept it and look somewhere else.MisterJB wrote...

Yeah, but I'm still disapointed we can't have a reunion scene in the game. :/
For me, the story is incomplete without this scene.
I also thought it was the Sanctuary base, but I think it's on earth.
This is inconsistent. What if Shepard was played as anthropocentric and agreed with Cerberus? What if the resulting entity favored humanity and advanced it alone?jtav wrote...
And I think Miranda would hate living under even a benevolent overlord. I think she sees fighting that sort of thing as what Cerberus is for. So I approve of resistance leader Miranda.

well, who knows something like that in a DLC
i mean,
EA wont lose the opportunity to cash in, right?
The theme itself can be interesting. I simply tend to not like or trust the result; that is, the one who ascended.CrutchCricket wrote...
And I'm guessing you just don't like the theme of individual ascension at the cost of their humanity?
