Can the writer get the opinion of the group? Would Miranda borrowing from a romantically involved Shepard's DNA to create a child decades after Synthesis or Control seem creepy to you?

Not at all. But I don't imagine this is a surprising stance.

BTW, after trying it with my Renegade, I noticed Synthesis cures the genophage regardless of Shepard's decisions.
In light of this, do you think Synthesis also cured Miranda's fertility?

Yes. Most definitely it did. That was my first thought in the Synthesis ending. I'm heavily leaning paragon, so I cured the genophage anyway, but I suspect that genetic maladies of all shapes and sizes are now cured.  Remember, Synthesis is the pinnacle of evolution. We are now in a state by which the galaxy's races no longer need to advance physically or technologically, since one can argue that even in modern society, we no longer physically evolve.

Agreed. I originally thought the question was more or less rhetorical Posted Image

Woa woa there. This is turning away from a discussion of the game to a dicussion of atheism vs. faith which is not an exchange that should be held here since it will lead to the topic being locked. And that would upset me very much since I like discussing Miri-related-...anything to be honest.

But as is, there is a perfectly acceptable scientific reason for the bonds that form between atoms, etc. It is simply the physics of the universe. Or, at least, our little corner of the universe considering it may be very different on the other side. Which is mind-boggling to even think about. That and the fact that time is not constant dependant on where you are in the universe.

What? How is this in any way related to atheism or faith? Did I question anyone's beliefs? The point was merely that the concept of purpose may not be as central to an intelligence that isn't human. Where did atheism come from?

Yes I know why atoms bond they way they do and the physics behind it. The idea was, is there a higher purpose to having two hydrogens bonding to an oxygen? Or do they do that simply because they happen to be near each other and physics dictates that's what happens when two hydrogens and one oxygen love each other very much?

It is off-topic and I'm happy to move on. But don't misconstrue my ideas please.

I actually believe we are both atheists. However, Crutch sees the way the mechanics that create life functions and thinks it beauty and human concerns petty compared to it.
I look at the human brain and think even the smallest of human emotions more beautiful and complex than a star than burns without knowing it is doing so.

It's funny how, because of that Control slide, I feel a lot of affection for Orianna again... As opposed to how that worked in the main game.

Want to know what would have been an interesting mission idea?

Ori contacting Shepard to help her save Miri! A nice switch of things and she can prove to Miri that she can handel herself.

Actually believe it or not I was raised Christian and still believe in God. But I don't sweat religion much and neither it nor philosophy have given me much answers in term of what God's really like.  I love philosophy in general though so this has been very pleasant. But in the interests of going back on topic. I'm happy to just leave it here with our differing viewpoints nicely highlighted.

So yeah... Miranda. How does it affect ME3 if you don't do her loyalty mission/don't encourage her to talk to Oriana? Provided she still survives of course.

So have anyone here asked the developers on Twitter for a Miranda-centric DLC? :(

Still somewhat sad on how she got kinda shelved for Ashley and Liara instead... >.>

But to reply: what makes you think a higher intelligence would need to contemplate an even higher "purpose of the universe"?

Suppose we once again go back to Dr. Manhattan, specifically his deterministic outlook. Viewing time simultaneously, his own actions merely reactions of cause and effect. Does such a system need a purpose?

I think seeking purpose is as much a human concept as anything else we've been talking about. Why can't something just be? Why do atoms bond to form compounds, compounds to form proteins, proteins to form cells, cells to form organisms (my aplogies for the shoddy biology)? Is there a purpose? Or is it merely a mechanical system reacting mechanically? Atoms merely forming ionic bonds, proteins folding, cells dividing...

A fair point. However, first, I would like to point out you misunderstood me. I did not suggest there was an higher purpose for the universe, only that the purpose intelligent beings give it is more "meaningfull" than the mechanisms which allows life to exist.

Would an higher intelligence see it this way? I honestly can't tell. I believe it possible because even the universe is not eternal.

What doomed Mannhatan, I think, was exactly his ability to see time simulaneously which could diminish the value of human action and "freedom". A puppet who could see the strings.
This needs not apply to the ME universe. But, like you said, happy to move on if you are.

We have reported all of the bugs and glitches that are currently limiting Miranda's role in the game to a glorified cameo.

Well...I like to believe there is a God. The Universe is so dreadfully cold otherwise.

In no way whatsoever apart from a few different lines.

I'd say yes.

On a similar note is Synthesis!Shepard actually gone? His energy (I'm calling it a soul  "the essence of who and what you are" sounds pretty much like a soul to me)  becomes a part of the framework of  all synthetic and organic life in the galaxy. Who's to say that Miranda couldn't figure out a way to give him a body again?

So, do you mean: are his implants damaged in destroy?

My initial thought would be to say: probably not, since there's no reason to believe that all technology is damaged, only the relays and synthetic beings. But... that's just a spur-of-the-moment reaction.

I believe otherwise. I'd wish Shepard was partially crippled after Destroy.

She'd find a way to fix him.

If not that they'd just get old together.

Correction, Shepard gets old. Miranda mostly stays like she is now.  Longer lifespan, remember?

I sort of do too. My Shep has been through alot. Colonist on Mindoir fighting slavers at just 16, The Scilian Blitz (Joker says you were there in ME3 regardless of Background), and Akuze. Not to mention just the Mass Effect series at a whole. He need to retire at 35. lol

Only reason its diciult to have Shep crippled or something is that the Meds in 2180 whatever are advanced that they regrow/clone lost limbs. I can't think of a way to really write around that. : /

not this again....

I'm just asking a question.

And no one seems to be able to answer it.

I shaged miranda in one of my playthroughs, and I do look at miranda as a female, but my question is, is she really a man, seeing as she grew from her fathers tissues.

simple question.   Just because someone gives you a question towards something you like doesn't make them "trollers" or whatever you kids call it.

That definitely would have been a good "New" outfit for Miri if BioWare had decided to give EVERY Character a different Outfit in ME3.<_<

I actually wouldn't have minded something loose for once, as a visual representation of character development? Like, maybe something with the torso and look of her old suit, but as a dress or something? idk

A few days ago peple start to troll with this, even when we already explained how wrong they were (ignore the facts, it's more fun to just be a troll).

Miranda was created with tissue from her father, however his XY chromosome was altereted. the Y was swapped with a new X (an amalgam of  desired sources). She is a female in body, mind and genetics.
