If someone want to say something, my Shephard would respond :
"This woman brought me back from the dead while all of you considered me definitely lost, and she helped me defeating the collectors. So without her, you would be all dead right now. I think she deserves your respect."

^ They might offer a respectful greeting, but generally you don’t salute civilians… Though she could hold a temporary rank as an attached specialist.

Maybe for the same reason of why Miranda (not romanced) salutes Shepard before the SM, for respect.

I could see Ken, Gabby, and Shepard doing it, but not the rest. More approving nods from the rest

I think Joker would be the first, actually. Because he would understand it as a symbolic gesture of respect, not only for Miranda, but for the ship and its history (and that's what it would be). it goes without saying that it wouldn't be *required* from a military point of view.

Except Shepard was clearly her CO.

Miranda holds no military rank otherwise. Even if she was Alliance sanctioned as a consultant, saluting would not be required.

But anyone who knows what she's done should know enough to show some respect.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salute

A salute is a gesture or other action used to display respect. Salutes are primarily associated with armed forces, but other organizations and civil people also use salutes.

Also, as a military I don't salute only my superiors, I salute my national anthem, my national flag and everything/everyone I have to show respect to.

Good for you!

Oriana geocoordinates at ME3 ending, anyone?

Traynor was on Horizon. I can see her saluting.

Theoretically, if one were doing this as a scene, there could be a variety of reactions. Would be interesting. Like I say, I think Joker especially would spontaneously *get* it. But not everybody would.

Oh, yes. Traynor would probably be the first.

That would have been a great scene. Miranda, wounded from Sanctuary and in the medlab, fights back tears as Traynor/Shepard/et al salute her heroism.

It's true that it would have been potentially a great idea to do it after Sanctuary.

Sanctuary as a whole is a great idea that is incredibly underdeveloped and underexploited.

Frankly, I don't think post-Sanctuary Miranda would have any problems from the crew. As far as we know, none of them were hurt by Cerberus personally, and she is now a genuine war hero. Alliance would issue a pardon, and she'd be controversial but everyone who knows what she did would respect her.

She does go *alone* into this Cerberus death camp while it is being attacked by Reapers and shuts it down, while using herself as a lure to get a tracer on Leng, something that she knows perfectly well might result in her death (and which apparently has not occured to anyone else).

As a concept, it's great. I just wish the level were better designed, and the whole thing gave a stronger sense of the significance of what is happening. Some type of scene on the Normandy afterward would really have helped. We also need to hear more about Miranda's thoughts and motivations, before and after, which unfortunately the current design doesn't really allow for.

The dialogue after Sanctuary on the Normandy approves with your theory.
They don't have that blind hate. They all respect her.

I think the crew should respect her before sanctuary.
For everything we know she did before.

Well, I think so, too. But certainly Sanctuary is proof of what she stands for, had there been any doubt previously in anyone's mind. She was willing to sacrifice her life to shut this place down and, not only that, find a way to track Leng back to Cronos.

And post-Sanctuary is when she should board the Normandy anyway (the way the story is currently laid out). Anyway, it's just disappointing to see the results in game, when you look at the concept (which is good).

So, perhaps we best move on from one inflammatory topic to another?

Is Miranda an Alliance agent in the epilogue?

Nah. Independent consultant.

Yep. She has her own outfit, unlike those uniformed people around her. Hey, they probably wouldn't know where to start building that city without her...

She did the Impossible. Something that was never done before in the Galaxy: She spent two long years bringing us back from the dead. That is something to be scene in history books to come.

She quit Cerberus. She saved humanity buy helping us Destroy the Collectors Base, leaving in one piece. She even helped the Alliance against Cerberus in ME3 (As scene in a message in the Terminal in Liara's Office in ME3). Anyone who would hate and charge her after all this would be either blind or stupid, or both.

Question: would it be possible to mod the Synthesis slide into something more subtle and attractive?

You mean without the green pattern that makes her look ugly? Hmm....perhaps someone can take the two slides and replace Miranda's face in the Synthesis version with the one in the unromanced Destroy version.

I thought bringing people back to life was actually possible in the Mass Effect universe but it was limited only to the absurdly rich or important.  However, I do think Shepard was the first patient to be so extensively rebuilt.

We were probably the first "Successful" result, especially after the intense damage due to long-term exposure to vaccum and sub-zero temperatures.
