Oh come on, Vega's not that bad. He, Cortez, Traynor, and Javik were really the only new big characters I really liked. He could have been more interesting, but some of his banter with Cortez was funny.

James isn't bad because he's bland, he's bad becuse he's a waste of space. Literally any other preestablished character would have been a better choice. He exists for the sole purpose of being retarded for new players.

I admit, he was made into retard for the sake of new gamers who should not have been the target demographic for the game. I imagine that for the collector mission, when he mentions how it all went wrong and he chose the data over his squad and the colonists, instead of blaming himself when it was ultimaltely useless, he should have blames Shepard and had them have an antagonizing relationship that slowly evolves into a respect for Shepard.

Why would he blame Shepard? He had no way of knowing anything that SHepard was doing (or even if Shepard was laive at that point). That would only make him even dumber.

Well, by the time of ME3, News of the Mission against the Collectors seems to have become common knowledge. Vega himself mentions that Shepard was out destroying the Collectors in the sparring session. I see Vega as blaming Shepard for making his squads death meaningless.  He doesn't flat out hate him, but he thinks of Shepard as a glory hog and (much like Jacob in ME2) wonders what the big deal about Shepard is until he sees him in action for himself.

And here I thought he could never top his "abuela's eggs" monologue.

Because we're getting a little off topic--

Really? I liked Vega. He's a simple character given simple things to do and he's relief comedy. I went in totally expecting to hate him and I came out actually loving his character.

I wonder what Cortez would say about Miri? During his "Friendship" drinking, all he says is "I hear you have a lady waiting for you." I really liked this. Simple line that tells me a lot about him.

Just, I wonder if this is a line for all female romances or Miri spesific. I know he has a seperate line saying there's something between you and Kaidan if you romance him.

Shepard: Miranda what's up? You look upset.

Miranda: EDI came to me asking for advise about showing sexually appeal to Joker. She asked what I would wear on...certain nights for you. She even asked about my bloody underwear!

Shepard: EDI is aspiring to be more human. You already know that she is in a Relationship with Joker. She already knows about us. She's just Curious.

Miranda: A little too curious if you ask me.

EDI: *Loud Speaker* I was only curious about human intimacy. You two serve as the only examples on the Normandy.

I think James would call her "Bust" instead of "Legs". Legs just sounds... Creepy.

I like to think she would be a good coworker to engineer Adams. Both of them are brilliant, just in different fields.

I'm partial to Miranda's Vega nickname being Frosty.

As for Vega he makes me think of a younger version of Shepard, the problem is that he doesn't have much interaction with Shepard and  the character development he gets (becoming an N7 candidate) isn't expanded upon. He's not a bad character, he's introduced in the last game in the series and he takes a spot that a more established squadmemeber could have taken.

Miranda: Shepard, that oaf of a friend of yours needs to stop drooling about my body, or I'll end up telling him a story about a man named Wilson.

M: Shepard, that troll friend of yours down in the hangar had better find something else to stare at. He's been eyeing me up for the last 30 seconds, and if he doesn't stop, I'm going to have to tell him about a man named Wilson. Besides, what do you see in him as a soldier? A person only works that hard on his biceps if he has nothing else to offer.

I think it's a cool idea. I also like the idea of Miranda having cryoblast as an ability for similar reasons, though unfortunately that ability kind of sucks, so it remains an "in theory" sort of thing.

True. But he had six months to find out, and however long before Arrival happened after the SM. I think that's plenty of time to develop a grudge of sorts. And I imagine that Vega's mission took place roughly around the time just before the Collectors abducted the Normandy crew. Vega then hears about the SM several months down the road and gets upset because he realizes his teams death's were meaningless.

Quick thematic thought: I just watched the Miranda death scene (and was quite thoroughly touched almost shedding manly tears) and I realized that thematically speaking, it almost makes more sense for Miranda to die. At least for my Shepard, he is really the most unlucky dude in the galaxy since things always go to **** around him.

Also, it gives him the anger and rage that I see in his eyes when I envision my Shep taking back Earth. It also means he has nothing left to live for, and is thus willing to die for something greater than himself. Kind of a beautifully romantic ideal, when I think about it.

Nah, not for me. Anger and rage aren't primary characteristics of my main Shepard. Though he regrets some of the things he has to do, being a strategist using the "ruthless calculus of war", he deals with his emotions like a salarian and stays cool and composed, most of the time. There's no hate for the Reapers either - after all, he already suspects they're not their own masters - just quiet determination to save civilization. Miranda's the only thing he gets emotional about, and sacrificing himself for a brigher future is even more meaningful since he sacrifices a future with Miranda. I'll have him come back of course, like Keiji. And that's as romantic as it comes...

I suppose I have a thing for the tragic hero. My Shep is a man who is hurting inside, (colony kid losing his parents to Batarian pigs etc.) and he hides his emotions from everyone but Miri who helps him work through them after he helps her in the same way.  So when she passes, he's still a good guy and his determination is to save the galaxy but regardless of him being a paragon, he still fights like a beserker: aka channels his rage and sadness to rip reaper thralls limb from limb.

To get that Cortez line, Just lock in Miri before going to his Drink at the bar.

Once there say "I'm hurt. Why aren't you looking over here?"

Cortez will say "Who says I'm not? But, I hear you have a lady waiting for you."

Then it continues like normal with the toast.

Yet another of Shepard's many many bros.

J: Hey Esteban, you seen that smokin' hot Lola talking with Shepard in the CIC earlier? Talk about "living la vida loca".

S: James, I think the blood is rushing from your head to somewhere else. Like you would have a chance with someone like her. She's at least intelligent and good to work with. You're only remotely similar under the cerveza.

J: Ahhhh... You're just jealous.

Miranda: *walks in* No, Lieutenant Cortez is right. You're an oaf.

J: Come on Lola, that's harsh.

M: If I catch you gawking over my body one more time I'll give you some real tattoos, this time in red ink.

Strange. Cortez speaks to my Shepard as if he has no romance. "I head a few ladies have shown interest but you haven't bitten."
