I basically agree. I much prefer Miranda to Miri. Though Miss Lawson does work.

True. I wonder if she has a never before referenced middle name though. Something that would really be only a private thing she might tell Shepard. That way when they're alone they do have special names for each other and not just nicknames.

In private, Miranda could also call Shepard by his actual first name (whatever that is;))

Well, everybody on the memorial wall had their first name on their nametag. When Shepard's was put up, it just read "Commander Shepard".

From this moment forward, Shepard's canon first name is "Commander".

DLC thread has been moved but still stickied. Dare I hope?

I wouldn't read too much into that thread being stickied, tbh. I don't mean that as a pessimistic statement. I just think it's easy to over-interpret that kind of thing.

(Before I go on, I'm not optimistic that a DLC like this would happen) Ok, so first off it started out stickied in the general discussion sub-forum, for what 3 days? Then moved to the Romance and Character discussion, still stickied, presumed not to be a mistake. How exactly are you to interpret this then? Again, not being optimistic that something will happen but the fact that it remains stickied is strange.

BioWare should have had it programmed to vary, based on your Name.

... which would actually be a very basic programming action, very cheap to miss at a professional studio like BioWare.

Well, those are the same professionals who claim they are unable to implement a proper flashback in less than 3 months...

Well, for example, following the EC, and up to the time the thread was stickied, there were a lot of complaints on the forums and on twitter that Miranda and Jack did not have the same type of presence in the EC as the other LI.

So, a mod might sticky that thread for a while just to let people know that these characters/fans are not being ignored (tone changed immediately from "why are we being ignored?" to "wow, maybe there will be some DLC"). Nice, but not necessarily a big deal.

For all I know they have already decided that Miranda and Jack will appear again at some point, I just don't think the thread being stuck (and no doubt eventually unstuck) is especially significant in itself.

The thing that really gets me though is the fact that games like Pokemon and Legend of Zelda continue to use user-inputted names and when talking to NPC's those NPC's use that inputted name.. It probably would have been only one line of code too. But, the thing to keep in mind is the fact they have to set up individual strings to each name so it wouldn't run off the name plate at the end, and setting up strings for individual names can make the code messy, but one way they could have solved that was set up a character limit for first names and then tie individual strings to like 6 characters so any name with 6 characters wouldn't run off the name plate. Still a basic programming action, and I find no seriously valid reason why they wouldn't do it. But it's whatever.

Actually, the sticked thread is something like Shepard Spectre status in ME2. BW knows they shafted those characters again, however they won't do anything about it. They still "support" us by sticking that thread, as long as people stop making threads asking about why Miranda and Jack are shafted in every aspect.

The characters in those games don't really talk, so it's easy.  Just imagine having the VA saying many different names while recording. That'll never happen. Too damn hard, and too damn time consuming.

I knew I could count on you to provide a more pessimistic interpretation involving us being shafted and screwed yet again Posted Image

There would no way for a VA to say allll the names. Thats why I was specifically talking about the name plate at the end.

Yes the nameplate thing was monumentally (lol) stupid in terms of missed opportunity. Another example is the VS letter from ME2.

It is a timeless memorial to missed opportunities. A fitting end to ME3, one might almost say Posted Image

Indeed. After the camera cut away the crew put a few more nameplates up:
Logic
Continuity
Character Integrity
True Reaper Threat
Franchise Potential
Bioware's Credibility

RIP

In the Special Features of ME2, there are 'Making Of" Videos of Characters like Grunt. Why didn't they have a "Making Of" Featurette of Miri (Voice, Story, Design, ETC!)?

I always took the fact that it reads "Commander" rather than his first time as a more symbolic thing. He was THE Commander Shepard. Not 'x' Shepard, but The Great Iconic Commander Shepard.

I think it does make a certain amount of sense from that point of view, yeah. I guess they could have simply gone with "Shepard" as well.

Making it variable is not a bad idea either, though.

"Commander X Shepard" in no way diminishes his "great iconicness".

Another thing I find annoying is Shepard never being represented by a portrait in teh squad powers/weapon loadout screens. It's always the N7. How hard would it be to generate a small pic based on the face code?

A portrait generated from a custom character? Madness I say! *covers up Dragon Age*

I only see ME3 video. See this is why I asked for help, but yet again, everyone hesitates, and proves the fact that no one wants to help in this thread. I need precise info. I cannot find it there because it's only about ME3.

I can't find ANY BioWare Pulse Videos about ME2

I want a video about the creation of Miranda. The making of her character. Not Yvonne interviews, not the Celebrity video.
