@Silentmode
Urgh....why are your most favorite quotes the ones where Miranda downplays her own abilities and shows less confidence than everywhere else?

Here a few alternatives:

"I put you back together, and I do damn good work".
"We've got an assignment. We can talk about it, or we can do it".
"Stop smiling, damn it"

Oh quit complaining Ieldra2 LMAO.:P:P:P:P

The first and third one are from the kiss version of the scene correct?

I love the middle. A start of a wonderful relationship.

I also love, "You'll die for that, B*itch!":wub::wub::wub:

She is the main reason why I will buy the game. Otherwise I'll just get it eventually through Gamefly

It's not downplaying her abilities. It's her acknowledging that parts of her that are flaws, rather than perfections and the reason why she's a complicated character. Besides, having moments of self-doubt is 'human' and provides drama.

Lux, who let you out of your box? It was the monkeys again wasn't it? Go back to typing up your fanfic! I want at least the next 500 words done by 3 hours from now or I'll have to remove meal privileges from you again!

P.s., I like the images that you have, although admittedly cosplay sorta freaks me out on some primal level.

Not skin tight enough ;)

I never really got the point of cosplay tbh, but I reckon the guy who won the cosplay comp as the blue shep with amplifier shoulderpads looked pretty good.

This chick won as well didn't she?

"The only thing I can take credit for are my mistakes" - that's not acknowledging a flaw, that's an unhealthy attitude to her own abilities. It *is* part of her character, but I can't understand why anyone would take this as a favorite line. It is something she should overcome, a flaw. Why would anyone like it that she has such a problem with herself?

As for the other line, she's saying she's inferior to Shepard. Again, that may be true with regard to Shepard's abilities to be an inspired leader. But why would that be a favorite line? Is it so important, so defining of her character that she says Shepard's better than her?

Which is why I like the lines of the Renegade romance. They offset that impression somewhat. And "Stop smiling, damn it" is just perfect - a tacit acknowledgement she's been outmaneuvred, the tone shows she doesn't really mind it, but she doesn't diminish herself in the exchange.

That was one of the best cosplay I've ever seen, Jessica F certainly did an awesome job portraying Miri here.

Also Lux regarding your poll about the engine room scene, I strongly think you should use it, but don't make it like Miranda pre-arranged it, make it a chance encounter, Shepard is alone in the engine room mulling over crossing through the Omega 4 Relay, Miranda walks in thinking about having some alone time to think outside of her room or something... and sexual tension builds up.

Yes. And deservedly so I think. It's a very well-made replica, and she can wear that outfit without looking ridiculous in it. That couldn't be said for all of the costumes in the contest.

I'll have to agree with Ieldra on this, I can't think of Miranda downplaying her abilities as some of my favorite lines, in fact the downplaying part is the flaw that should be dealt with, not the fact that they may or may not be there in the first place.

Edit: Also one of my favorite lines is "I'm never wrong, I thought you know that by now, Jacob".

@LuxDragon:
About the "Engine room scene": I think it would be best to relocate it to Miranda's office, starting with Miranda standing in front of the window looking out into space and ending on her bed, still with the window in the background.

BTW, I just got the first sex scene in The Witcher 2 - put's everything in ME2 in its place. Just the right mix of the erotic and the romantic. And funny. And with a little dialogue.

I like her flaws. It helps contrast against the perfection.

Now excuse me. I need to type of 500 more words. And then some. Home stretch!

Triss's scene? I think it was done rather well, but it was on the verge of being too much though... I think TW2 style sex scenes mixed with some ME1 artistry would be epic.

I never understand why nudity can be accepted in mediums like movies and music videos but not games.

It's because the perception that games are for kids remains, no matter how much survey's and relevant organisations lobbying and census data shows otherwise.

I think, hope rather, that sex scene's in ME3 go more ME1's route than anything else as I thought it was tasteful and I suppose slightly erotic. It was a lot better than what we got in any BioWare game since then though.

I felt that Mass Effect 1 achieved an excellent balance with Love Scenes. They approached them in an artistic & tasteful way, without gratuitous nudity. Mass Effect 2 seemed to succumb to the media controversy in some ways.

Off Topic - I found this interview with Yvonne talking about Chuck at SDCC.

I'm somewhat stupid, because I just spoilt some of Chuck for myself. I haven't seen any episodes yet, I plan on starting Season 1 tonight. Hopefully i can avoid further spoilers for the series. There's alot of seasons to catch up on, so i'm told.

I can't tell if she's speaking with Sarah's accent or beginning to lose her Australian accent, I'm not bothered either way though.

I didn't mind the engine room scene to be honest, to me it was just Miranda being Alpha woman for her Alpha male more than anything else. I just thought the fact that it culminated in the engine room to be slightly odd.

I liked the fact that they got *nude* in ME1 during the romp, I mean, it's realistic and sensual, which is why ME2 missed out imo. They got the playful part right I thought, but then it quickly flatlined for me at least.

Hated, hated the engine room scene. Not erotic, and it made both of them look like jackasses. Especially since the engine room is the last thing we see during the crew kidnapping. Combine that with the fact that the lead-in to the romance is essentially "I'm not as good as you" and a dislike for Slap Slap Kiss and it's clear O was not meant for this romance.

Definitely. I don't expect much though, with EA's anticipatory submission to the ideological extremists and would-be censors in the U.S.. Bah. Can't say how I despise that attitude. [/quote]

It's not about liking that she has a problem but rather about the emotions it can convey to the player. That line touches my heartstrings. Every. Single. Time.
And that's why I love it.

Hey guys. I'm working on an art project and I was wondering if any of you could contribute some good Miranda quotes that I could use, specifically ones that you think help 'define' her.

Thanks!

It depends on the tone of the porject you're working on.
If it's meant to represent Miranda's harsher side then maybe "I don’t have for incompetence or recklessness. Or heroes."
If it's more about her fragile side then this could work "Every one of your accomplishments is due to your skill. The only things I can take credit for are my mistakes."
If it's more romantic then "What idiotic bunch of hormones thought that now was a great time for love?" or "Don't die! You promise me, damn it!"

As for the Engine Room scene, I think that the location contributes to making that scene special. Clearly, anyone who analyzed the images that came from the SR2 couldn't have been interested in what was happening as long as it didn't affect Cerberus. I mean, we are talking about bathrooms, showers, private quarters, girls in (ironically enough) engineering getting pregnant, etc.
Despite this, that Miranda still wanted that moment to be just between herself and Shepard just rubs me in the righ away.

I hate when Miranda downplays her abilities. I'll be mad if she's softened up in ME3. I like her best when she's confident and doesn't take **** from nobody.
