Going back to the topic of our First Mass Effect Games: It's just weird going back to ME1 again. ME2 was the First for me, so when I played ME1 for the First time. I had all this knowledge of the Saren and the Reapers, that no one had when ME1 was played for the first time in 2007/2008. So even now, playing ME1 for the 3rd "Official" time, I still have that weird feeling. It's that feeling in which you know everything by seeing the Sequel(s) of a Story, then seeing the first part of said Story with all the knowledge that no one had when seeing the first part for the first time. I knew what the Reapers were, and what they were capable of........kinda. The reason why I say "kinda" is because when playing ME2 before ME1, especially for the first time, I didn't know what the Reapers actually were, or what they even looked like until seeing the scene after the Suicide Mission on YouTube (Before I played through the SM). I didn't fully know what the whole conflict was until I saw this "Previously on Mass Effect" Video narrated by Martin Sheen. Sorry....it's really looking back at the times when I hardly had any clue of what was really going on. Because ME2 was My First Mass Effect Game, at the time, I saw the collectors as the threat, though I did acknowledge the Reapers, after hearing Miri and other Characters say the name.

Now back to Miri:

I remember when I first viewed this Scene on YouTube. My eyes were wide open. I believe my jaw dropped as well. I'm not too sure. This was when I was first starting out in ME2. I forgot how far I was. I think it was before Horizon. I chose Miri to be My Love Interest before even buying the Game.

She became my Shepard's LI because of this picture. To be honest, I bought the series because of that picture. Saw it on a DAO thread, didn't even know she was a LI then. Pleasant surprise.

Let's see...

I first played Mass Effect 1 back in early May of this year. Romanced Liara my first time through, out of leaving Ashley on Virmire and confusing my interest in the asari for interest in her. I'll always regret that choice.

Moving on to ME2, I liked pretty much every character except for Jacob. He just didn't really have anything to say. Anyways, about half way through ME2, I was in a HUGE debate with myself over Jack vs. Miri. As obvious, I ended up choosing Miri over Jack.

I romanced her for her much more intelectual appeal to my interests and, though calculating, I liked her realistic outlook. I never romanced her for her body and that will always remain a bonus, nothing more.

I was a day one Collector's Edition Mass Effect fan. :D

After I'd got hooked on KOTOR, I became a BioWare fan and would pre-order everything they made. Even bought KOTOR II just because it was like a BioWare game (complete with bugs!)

Had I known Miranda existed at the time of ME1, I wouldn't have bothered with Ash. :P

Of course, just before ME2 was released I bought a new PC so I replayed ME1 on that but made sure to recreate everything as I did before. And I still have fond memories of ME2 being the first new game I played on my brand new computer, having not used anything decent since about 2003. Even if it isn't the prettiest game anyway.

With ME2, I liked Jack but then I'm not sure if I maybe said a wrong thing or that's just her attitude but she's basically, like, "Unless you dump Miranda, frak off". I'm guessing maybe I should've have shown any initial interest, or she is just out of dialogue. Oh well!

That's how I've always felt. She would be Shepard's LI regardless of how she looks. That picture painted an interesting character for me, I wanted to know more about her. Thus began my Mass Effect adventure.

When I first played ME1 I romanced Ashley. Would have never done that if Miranda would have been included there, but it is as it is.
I already forgot about Ashley, when I saw this picture in some early advertisement. Really inflamed my interest in her.

I thought Cortez made a reference to your romance (If you locked it in) during the nightclub scene? I made sure I locked in the romance with Miranda (via affirmation and the hotel scene) before seeing Cortez, but I still didn't hear anything of the sort. Do I have to pick a specific dialogue?

Just passing by, thanks for posting on Kaidan's thread, always heartwarming to have people expressing sympathy. Yeah, Patrick Olejniczak's Miranda art is really gorgeous, I love her casual look in there, just wished FemShep got to wear something like that... I still think Miranda would have been better off in-game with slightly smaller bosom and butt though Posted Image

EDIT> I was reading some good fanfic, it's femShenko centered, but it takes place during ME2, there is a lot of character development outside of Kaidan & Shep, especially for Miranda. She's got epic dialogue in here, I think the writer did really good, you might give it it a try?

I'm not sure about the other romances, but Cortez will state "Who says I'm not? But, I hear you have a lady waiting for you." He'll have a similar line about something between you and Kaidan if he's romanced. Once again, no idea about Tali or Liara or someone.

Is it a reaction to what Shepard can say via dialogue wheel, or is it automated? If it's the former, then which dialogue do you pick ot hear him say that?

Wow. I really liked that bit about Kaiden. Even if it did seem a little verbose for her, it was really good.

Consider my interest piqued!

Same here. It is a big bonus, to be sure, but without "professional, pragmatic and idealistic genetic-engineered Miranda" I would've had no more than a passing interest in her.

Also, I feel old. Am I the only one here who recalls the time before Baldur's Gate came out? When there was so much anticipation for the renewal of fantasy role-playing it was expected to bring, and the fear Bioware would call the project off because of the long delay?

Edit:
As for ME, I bought ME1 as soon as it was out on the PC in 2008....so ME3 is really the final part of a five-year sojourn in the ME universe. But it will stay in my mind much longer.

I think the Cerberus SR-2 looked the best.

I agree.

Indeed. The situation in ME3 is dark and gloomy enough. No need to enhance the mood by dimming the light.

The most disappointing aspect remains Liara in Miranda's rooms, though. I want to throw Liara out the airlock every time I go there. Miranda could do everything she does and then some.

@jtav:
A fascinating scene. I've always thought Miranda and Samantha would get along very well. I wonder what she meant when she said it didn't turn out as she expected with bringing Shepard back. It sounded sad. Or was she referring to what became of Cerberus?

I agree too. The Cerberus SR2 looks better in and out.
The yellow stripes on the fuselage give it an aggresive look contrarely to the Alliance bluish tone, it's a war frigate afterall.
Yet the inside is more welcoming and comfy. Also, a lot of rooms were pointless in ME3, it is clearly not organised in an optimal way. I like the war room though.
And yeah Ieldra, seeing what happened to Miranda's quarters is disappointing. Miranda should give Liara some advice in furnishing and decoration :P

@jtav: Very nice work, as usual.

I prefer the Cerberus SR-2, but I like that they add in that little dig about the armory placement. You idiot, Jacob. :P

Just finished Sanctuary for the Nth time and I all I can think about whenever I finish it is...

Shepard, why are you such a thoughtless ******? What's stopping you from inviting Miranda and Oriana to the Normandy? She said she's going to get her injuries treated and take Oriana some place safe? Honestly, where else is safer? Never mind that the Normandy has the state-of-the-art medbay (with Dr. Michel in my games) and the extra medical supplies from Tactus. I won't even bother trying to rationalize it.

What astonishes me is the complete lack of an attempt to explain it. Why not have Leng gravely wound her even in a best-case scenario so that she needs extensive medical care? And I still have no idea how she's contributing to the war. This is why we need DLC.

On that subject, why not show some of the fight with Leng?

I think that would make Shepard just a little more of an idiot.

Really, he's just standing there watching the woman he may or may not be in love with fight the Sci-Fi equivalent of Storm Shadow, not bothering to make his way forward at any pace.

Well according to Bioware, he has Liara and Ashley to stare at instead of the temptress.

Of course.

I forgot Miranda pretty much doesn't exist.

Shepard is an idiot because it was thought superfluous to give MIranda content after where she was supposed to die. I get the impression that somebody lobbied very hard for a forced death. Probably Walters, to remove competition for Liara. The "push Liara, sideline Miranda" campaign started with LotSB and that thrice-damned dossier...

^^Reminds me of the dialogue on Mars when Shepard said "I think about what I might loose" ... and looks at Ashley. <_<
Happens too often that you can't choose what Shep cares for.

Don't forget the other dialogue with Liara, the one where Shepard's 2 dialogue options are

"I miss Kaidan/Ashley"

or

"I'm thinking of the people on Earth".
