It's been a long time coming.

This cycle has repeated itself more times than you can fathom.
And that is not a joke.

WE ARE THE REAPERS!!! Ahhh!

So what, if anything, should happen to her post-war?

I just like playing devils advocate whenever 101 is involved. But I was just picking out that one piece he wrote in his diatribe. But interesting question.

If we're going by standards of law and who is in charge and who is charging her. There are two organizations that could charge her:

The Alliance and the Citadel Council. It would depend also on what she did in charging. The Citadel Council would find her guilty of treason first of all by aligning with Cerberus. The Alliance though would probably look at what exactly she did and if we're going with United States law, there may be some neglegent unlawfulness carried out by her as she was considered 2IC. Quarian Fleet would definitely have her executed for (potentially) holding Veetor.

HOWEVER...this is all assuming her records weren't convenietly destroyed in the attack on Chronos station. No evidence other then maybe eyewitness testimony-- from who though? IF charges were brought up, chances are that they'd be dropped due to insuffient evidence. I wish I could say that she'd simply be pardoned for her efforts against Cerberus and the Reapers but Miss Lawson was written to only really care about her sister.

Oh and she'd be charged with probably several murders. Though that depends on the state. In NY its force for force. Murdering her dad after he let Oriana go wasn't force for force. Biotic vs. Gun.

I think it all depends on a person's Point of View.

I'm going by the FBIs definition. But yes - one mans terrorist is anothers freedom fighter - such is the case of all terrorists.

I'm a soldier. I've done a tour in Afghanistan, and I'll tell you, I don't like what they do, but I have a certain respect for how far some the... people I fight go. In some cases, they're just trying to make a better life for themselves. A lot of the stories you hear about aren't actually militant Islamists, they're actually just regular subsistence farmers and herders just trying to survive and doing the only thing they know how to do to ensure that.

Exactly my point when I say freedom fighter. American leadership during the Revolution were considered terrorists themselves.

She should defy the new Machine God, of course.

Is that what all the cool kids are on about these days?

In light of the Destroy and Synthesis slides, I imagine the Alliance will be willing to overlook her past so long as she remains useful. The alien governments might want some retribution but the Council isn't what it used to be, I doubt they would cross humanity over the fate of an agent that resigned from Cerberus before the war started.

I see her helping with the rebuild efforts with some sort of parole system set it and the understanding that she may still be tried at a later date (but now they can't afford to).

Howver after a while she vanishes, possibly by faking her death. Now she runs that human STG, but she does it right. Few people even know it exists and those that do only know rumors and half truths. It has a public front, a foundation dedicated to scientific advancements run by Oriana. It also coordinates with Hackett in secret.

The way my story goes, Shepard finally snaps during a private conversation with Hackett over both Miranda and Ceberus. Hackett is completely taken aback by the alliance poster boys pent up frustration and disdain towards the alliance and council for them constantly hanging him out to dry when he tried to warn them about the reapers. Shepard still respects Hackett, but he also threatens to go public (and worse) if the alliance ever tries to do anything to either Miranda or any non-indoctrinated former Cerberus personnel whom he has some sort of connection (Jacob, Dr. Cole, Petrovsky). Seeing that Shepard is such a big name and face to EVERYONE in the galaxy, it would be an incredibly crippling blow to the alliance and the remaining council if Shepard was to ever go against them. In the end though, its not enough, and Shepard eventually 'disappears with the Normandy and several crew (Miri, Joker, Garrus, EDI, etc.) and steals Cronos Station. Several months later, an exact word for word copy of the Cerberus manifesto reappears on the extranet, this time talking about a watchdog group similar to the Spectres that ignores or supercedes all authority to protect the galaxy. Reading it is Shepard, and at the end Miranda appears on his arm and says " We hope you'll join us."

indeed. as were the viet cong, and much as the taliban are.

of course, it is hard to sympathize with either group. Especially the taliban. I don't think anyone would want to live under an incredibly strict Islamic society were if you are so much as caught without a beard as a man or if you are a woman who is visible, even through a window in her own home, you face a very painful death.

You have to decide that for yourself. You can be a fan for whatever reason you please.

But... try not to feel threaten by people with other views and ideas.

Part of me thinks that a combination of Sanctuary, her being enormously useful, and sleeping with or being Shepard's friend would cause her to be treated similarly to Von Braun and others.

I had totally forgotten about that warning she sent out - it would be an invaulable piece of evidence in any trial in getting any jury to have sympathy on her.

How about the same way you always saw her? If you were a true Miri fan, you'd have known about all this. Miranda's not a paragon by any means, and I thought you'd know that. If anything, she's a Renegon. (Not pure Renegade)
But she's not a saint either...I'm surprised you saw her that way.
Everyone makes mistakes, even Miranda. She's made some rough decisions and actions, but we still like her for who she is.
If you're questioning her at this point...well.

So tell us...why do YOU like Miranda? And don't say "Dat ass" or "Her tanks are buoyant and elevated"

Given the devs feelings towards Miranda I say being a pessimist is being realistic and smart.

I like to think that the Base we see in the control slide exists regardless, that it's where she takes Oriana after Sanctuary, and that it's from that base that she carries out the "independent" anti-Cerberus activities described in the email. Then she becomes like a... special consultant after the war in Destroy and Synthesis, which is what we are seeing in those slides.

I could see her being tried and convicted, but the Alliance essentially saying "Okay, your sentence is to use that mind of yours to help rebuild." Imprisonment and execution would be a waste. And pissing off Shepard wouldn't be worth it politically.

I think see Miri as a saint. I like Miranda because she is Smart, Bad-Ass, Beautiful, and Powerful (Biotics AND Weaponry). I hardly knew anything about her when starting out, only her looks, and her voice (I didn't know who Yvonne was at the time). When playing through ME2, I started liking her more, for many other reasons. I didn't care about her past, because I know she becomes a better person in the Future. She goes from Renegon to Paragade, in a sense.

Miri is appealing. When I see of Romance Story Arcs, and Romance Scenes from other character, I don't feel to much. Not as much as I do with Miri, and the Romance Story Arc/Scenes.

I honestly don't know what to say.

In the words of Forrest Gump, that's all I have to say about that.

ooh can we assign other roles?

Let's see...

jtav's the resident chronicler (fanfic writer) who never runs out of hoops to make the characters jump into.
MisterJB may just be the guy I disagree with most of the time:bandit:
Ieldra2 is the wise old one (the name actually means Elder apparently)
flemm's the voice of reason
Vertigo is our dataminer/informant
Dr Doctor is our dialogue specialist
Asakawa's our most prominent artist
yesika's in charge of most Miranda related social movements

Modesty prohibits me from coming up with my own title...

Sorry if I missed someone but that's all I can think of at the moment.:innocent:

Well, she and other ex-Cerberus operatives have already been accepted as allies over the course of the game. So, that strikes me as a bit unlikely. Bailey is already supplying her with material as of the email, and seemingly he is only the go-between.

Yeah none of those qualities make up a saint. More saints have been ugly (if you think Mary was a white, beautiful, blued eyed woman - got news for you!), meek, and humble. If anything Miranda is the direct opposite. You do know what a saint is right?
