Shepard was at the top of the presidium tower (Around where Sovereign docked in ME1).
I severely, SEVERELY doubt the Citadel still has working ME fields and kinetic barriers. Shepard blew up one of the Citadel's power conduits and one of the arms snapped off into pieces. During the 1st slide showing the Citadel, it's grey and monochrome, giving the appearance of being "deactivated" (for lack of a better term), or turned off, implying a power loss.
I know Shepard is basically Jesus in space, but now it's starting to stretch my disbelief.
He's only mostly dead. Although I think I'm going to stick with Synthesis as my ending option mostly because Kasumi's slide gives me some hope of how a reunion would work (it sort of helps that Keji's profile is pretty similar to my Shepard:

I refuse to believe that Space Stupid-- I mean Synthesis, resurrects dead people. All it needs to do now is is cure cancer and give everybody superpowers and it will be my #1 most hated thing in all of fiction.Dr. Doctor wrote...

Ah the "He's only mostly dead" Quote is a little funny everytime.

God that picture infuriates me to no end. If you're suggesting photoshopping your Shepard's head on that hologram, I approve.

It all depends on how much of Keiji was stored in the greybox.

Synthesis EDI is an idiot. She openly contradicts what she says earlier with the whole "I AM ALIVE" bit and doesn't understand what immortality is if she thinks she hasn't reached that point yet.
Never mind that dead people can't be immortal, because they are dead.

1. I don't think greyboxes work that way. They appear to be more like expanded memory, not full brain backups (they're being referenced almost as prosthetics). Then there's the way we see them in ME2, holographic representation of some memories, a "gatekeeper" program. It's almost like a holocron from Star Wars. Bringing that to life seems nonsensical.
2. By far the worst offender is that Kasumi is still obsessed with the greybox. Her dialogue about it if you keep it during her mission makes me scrape at the walls howling. And it doesn't help that even if you destroy it, the ending slide is still her alone, in a dark room clutching what appears to be a greybox. I think it's pretty much the Kasumi version of the worst thing they could've done in ME3 for her. And sadly Kasumi does not have even a fraction of the vocal support Miranda does.

What does that have to do with anything? The greybox is a tool meant to help alzheimer's patients by storing and recollecting information. In other words, it's a memory bank. How could this possibly play into Keiji coming back and a living organism?
Resurrection via Synthesis is the worst thing I have ever seen or heard of. It's unlikely anything Bioware or anyone else says will change that.

Yeah, I can understand that. I am of two minds about this, but you're right, it doesn't make Kasumi look good.CrutchCricket wrote...

Considering it was all his memories and whatever was in his brain, in a way, it's really him. Unless you're the spiritual type. Then it's just a replacement/backcopy. "Why can't I have both?" She thinks.

Interesting, but in the context of the conversation it sounded more like something related to Shepard's being and why she wanted a control chip more than how difficult the task actually was...but then she implies she's not dealt with that many before. I guess she just meant she was dealing with something where she had no certainty of the output but worded it oddly.jtav wrote...
It means she's forced to use a lot of tech she doesn't understand.

I got the same impression jtav did. Tech Miranda didn't understand. I still think some of it was probably Reaper tech.

I'm still a little confused about what Miranda meant by lots of black boxes when rebuilding Shepard ("There was so much import data from ME1!"). Good job I'm not at that chapter...yet.
