From chapter one of Retrbution: "The traditional health risks associated with smoking were no longer a concern in the twenty-second century; advances in the fields of chemistry and medical science had eradicated diseases like emphysema and cancer."

Ah, yes, there we go, thanks for sourcing it. I knew I recalled it from Some Official Source™.

That felt really personal, you're not disagreeing with jtav, you're practically attacking her.

If it was personal, I would have said something... I dunno, personal?

Me very strongly disagreeing with something and being colorful with my descriptor doesn't = personal attack.

I strongly disagree with a lot of things people write here, doesn't mean I'll try to humilliate the person I disagree with.

Cool.

I don't either.

Sorry, it's not from chapter one, it's from the prologue.

You know, I very much dislike Synthesis, but I think I'm finally done yelling at people about it. So, jtav, go ahead and write that thing. But I hope you write more of that Traynor thing first. I really liked your WIP. :)

Hey, I loathe it, but that doesn’t mean you couldn’t write a good story about it.  Can’t recommend TheMarshal’s “Returned” highly enough if you want a Synthesis take. No Miranda, though. Probably.

I didn't say I'd write it. It's just an image. There's space magic and then there's complete genre shift. i can't make it work within ME.

Hey, you can indulge whatever whimsy you want.  It doesn't all have to "work." I mean, sisirongana's story about Shep and squadmates all going to high school together (I can't remember hte name of it right now.  Something about "Summer nights," I think) doesn't come anywhere close to fitting, but it's still a really great, fun read.

A few pages ago there was pictures of the Citadel...lights are still on even though there are holes on it. SO maybe Shepard would not be as messed up as Jtavs limbless Shepard. Although I believe Miranda could rebuild Shepard , with enough resources. Remember he was a bag of meat according to jacob.

"Meat and tubes" is a little bit different than being disintegrated into ash and fairy dust. In the former, you still exist.

Allow me to clarify:
I mean for High EMS Destroy. For Control, Synthesis, Low EMS Destroy, and Refuse Shepards body is vaporized.
But for High EMS Desrtoy it can survive.

Then wht was the original point of your post? Jtav was proposing about Synthesis, in which Shepard is wholly disintegrated. In High EMS Destroy, Shepard doesn't even die. There's nothing to rebuild because there was nothing lost to begin with.

Don't take this the wrong way, Ventus, but I usually get a very negative or angry vibe from your posts. Even if you weren't attacking jtav, there are ways of being civil about disagreeing.

Not angry, just very, very cynical (and vocal about it). No lie, but I was given an official "strongest cynic" award at my high school (Really, it had a little blue ribbon and everything).

In fact, I don't think I've ever been legitimately angry on BSN before. Rather cordial, in fact.

On the other hand, I am a chronic insomniac, so I guess deprivation does funny things to my perceived civility. Oh well.

About Keiji and Shepard coming back.... in the end, what makes a person is information. If you have all that information and can reconstruct a body, you can theoretically put it all back together. I agree that should be restricted to fan fiction, but I like that subtle hint with Keiji.... well OK, perhaps a little too unsubtle, but if Bioware is bad at anything, it's subtlely.

This is completely fairytale, but I wouldn't mind a holographic ghost of Shepard appearing in Synthesis. Miranda kisses it and it glows more and more brightly and gradually becomes solid.

Er, I'll show myself out.

Pfft, ghost? Nah, I'd say he materializes Dr. Manhattan style.

But I've already used that imagery in Control....

So yeah no thanks.

Yeah, I don't have a problem with you. I've just noticed this tendency to read things in a negative light (e.g. when someone was agreeing with you, you suspected they were trolling you).

Mainly it's because our own mood actually colours how we read stuff online. I don't think it's something any of us can completely avoid, but I try to stay aware of it.

Ugh they could've done it with something else. Like Avina... or the Prothean VI.

Literally anything else.

This line of discussion is making me realize why they didn't do a reunion scene in the EC.

I always think of Green Lantern whenever I see the Crucible go off during the Synthesis ending.

No. One is cool and fits within the context and confines of its established universe. The other... isn't.

At least for the comic book entities it's actual magic. For the most part.

I'm just picturing Galactus in his chair:

"Silly Mass Effect humans. Thinking you could create an entire space saga using only your understanding of science and logical extrapolations thereof."

Bring me a planet for I am hungry.

About the Mass Effect Feilds going out on the Citadel....I believe it was mentioned somewhere that they have an unbelivable amounnt of backup systems to make sure they don't fail. Sure, streching things a bit, but good enough for me.

@Ventus this is what Jtav said back in the mid to late 2390s "So how do you think Miranda would cope with a romanced Shepard who survived, but lost some functionality? Stipulate that it's permanent. "
the convo then talked about implications and possible cures. essentially my posts were me trying to catch up on the conversations. Thats what I said about a limbless shepard. I was not referencing

Even the backups needs power. If the power gives way, then the backups are looking pretty pointless.
