My fav. was the ME2 Mattock and ME2 Phalanx, both of which got super nerfed in ME3.

I'm not sure I ever used them in ME2. They were DLC weapons, weren't they?

I still like the Mattock in ME3. Found it really good right from the beta. The Phalanx is alright but lacks the immediate punch of the Carnifex, and I settle for nothing but the best. :P

Yeah they were in the firepower pack. The Mattock is damn unstoppable on insanity in ME2, and the Phanlanx kicks more ass than the widow with its laser sight. As I said both weapons, especially the Phalanx, got nerfed. ME2 Phalanx you could practically beat the game with it. It was pretty much the Halo 1 pistol on steroids.

I miss the ME2 version of the Locust, it was highly accurate, had a damage bonus against shielded targets, and dealt out more damage than the Tempest. It's ME3 cousin isn't worth using even at level X.

As for my go to weapon I'm a fan of the Striker Assault Rifle. With the extended barrel and an extended magazine the thing mows down enemies. Plus with a little work in Gibbed's Save Editor you can use multiplayer only weapons in single player

Does anyone feel that Vasir confrontation was left a little too isolated from the rest of the mission/game?

"You're just as bad, Shepard."
"Nu uh! No, I'm not!"
"Whatever." *dies*

Agreed. Vasir only exists so we have someone to blame the district bombing on.

Also, I never really got 'obsessed with human dominance' vibe from Miranda. I mean, there is that furthering humanity aim, but that always seemed more in-line with them being the newest race and railing/defending against the council's dominance. Also, if you take the opening scene to ME2, it was about fighting the Reapers, something which the other races were neglecting.

Also agreed. I definitely don't see it "obsessed", not in the slightest. Human advancement and protection is one of her priorities, certainly, but it's far from the only thing she cares or thinks about, just like anyone else. If she was "obsessed", she wouldn't be spending so much time looking after Oriana or forming a bond with Shepard.

Well, I have a 360, so I'm SOL on that one. Yeah the Locust is pretty bad in ME3. No ammo, no damage, low rate of fire, the list goes on.

I concur. Didn't they remove the +damage multiplier to rapid-fire weapons against shields and barriers in ME3? I think that is what killed the Locust. It's still one of the more accurate SMGs, but it's damage is rather pitiful, even at X. The Tempest or GPSMG (Hell, even the Hornet) outperform the Locust, even at lower levels. The only way to make the Locust even remotely viable is to equip both of the ammo upgrades (heat sink and magazine capacity). The scope and EB are both useless on SMGs.

My favorite overall weapon is by far the Cerberus Harrier, followed by the N7 Valiant.

That point about fighting the Reapers is an important one. Also, we can look at what Miranda/Cerberus is actually doing in ME2: fighting the collectors, saving/attempting to save the lives of human colonists. Things that needed to be done and that no one else was doing.

I loved the Locust. Found it on Kasumi's Loyalty Mission, which was one of the first missions I actually did, and never looked back.

And, I mean never. I didn't so much as switch weapons.

It was awesome in ME2. Come ME3 it was nerfed terribly.

You know, before ME2 came out and there was scant detail on what was going to occur - just the Cerberus involvement and the Shepard: KIA - I had been thinking it was going to be some sort of cover-up so he could go 'off the grid' in some way. I'm surprised Cerberus didn't attempt something like that with Shepard. :P

When Miri said, "Your accomplishments are due to your skill. The only things I can take credit for are my mistakes," what did she mean by that?

It means she attributes her own accomplishments to her genetic tailoring giving her an advantage.

That's why Shepard points out that she is still responsable for what she has accomplished ("He gave you gifts, but you can be proud of what you've done with them").

So basically she said that she cannot take credit for all the perfection and abilities she has because they were done by her father, so she can only take credit fro mistakes which she made in the past.

Yeah. And because of her upbringing, she still can't shake feeling like a tool made for a purpose and that she's always expected to be at peak performance.

I was a little confused at the beginning of chapter 2 but then realized what happened after reading it.   Funny how you switched the dialogue around with Shepard and Miranda and the apartment scene.

Anyways,  I like what you have written up so far.  Yeah, I think your Shepard's recovery will take a bit of time a year sounds about right.  I also think it will be difficult for Miranda to see Shepard like this with the attached feelings for him now than when he was just a body back then.

Looking forward to how this story develops.   ;)

Basically, I think so, yeah.

In reality it's not really much different from anyone else, everybody has certain talents, abilities, etc., things that they are naturally good at, and so on. It doesn't mean that their accomplishments are not their own (this is the idea that Shepard tries to get across, essentially).

But, given Miranda's unconventional origins, it's not surprising that she has some trouble really embracing her own abilities and accomplishments.

Me too. In ME2 it was the best SMG, but now it's trash.

Hmm, was just looking up Australian slang (because of reasons!) and Bastard = term of endearment.

Which makes perfect sense in how Miranda uses it in-game but not with how I have been writing her. D'oh.

But she also calls Kai Leng a "slippery bastard". Unless Leng sweats oil, "slippery" isn't an adjective I'd use to describe affection.

Ah, good point. Forgot about that. I was a little concerned about inconsistency but if she uses it for both then that's fine. Thanks!

And I dunno, if someone gets 'slippery' it can be a sign of affection. ;)
