I feel like I should introduce myself, like this is a Miri-aholic Meeting or something.

Hi everyone! I'm Fun Buttons, and I replayed ME1 so I could have a Shep that didn't romance anyone so I didn't have to cheat on anyone to romance Miranda. Is that enough to prove my chops?

So far this is the biggest gathering of pro-Miranda people that I can find, lord knows there aren't many of us. Quick question, there doesn't happen to be a good artist in this thread, is there? I have an idea, but my artist skills are for ****...

Welcome!

Welcome! Nice to meet you!

And if you're looking for a really good artist, Asakawa is your go-to girl.

Good to meet you all too!

Since I'm not sure exactly how to get ahold of her, I'll post the idea here for posterity's sake, and y'all can critique it for me (since it's kinda also a creative writing exercise).

Alright, so keep in mind that it's a comic:
[Setting: Shepard sits at a table with a blonde-haired girl, maybe seven years old, there's a big pile of candy on the table and they each have two cards in front of them]
-*Girl looks at her cards with a furrowed brow* "Hit me" she says.
-"But you already have 18, Eve, you should probably stay" says Shepard
-"I said 'hit me'" says Eve
-Panel Break-
[Shepard reluctantly flips one more card, and, with a surprised look on his face, reveals a 3]
-Panel Break-
[The two look at each other, Shepard giving Eve "the look," Eve returning it with a beeming smile]
-Panel Break-
-"Mom's been teaching you to count cards, hasn't she?" says Shepard
-"Eyup!" says Eve
-Panel Break-
-"Don't act so surpised Hon," says Miranda, coming from behind Shepard and placing her head on top of his, wrapping her arms aroud his shoulders, "you know we don't gamble..."
-"...We win!" Eve shouts, completing the phrase.
-Panel Break-
[Eve and Miranda smile at each other, Shepard looks dejected]
-Panel Break-
-
"But Miri, that takes the fun out of black jack!" shouts Shepard, as Miranda walks away
-"Who said anything about having fun?" Miranda calls back
-Panel Break-
[Shepard puts his head on the table as Eve begins raking in her candy winnings]

-"Don't worry dad, I'm having fun!" Eve whispers
-"That's good, sweetheart," replies Shepard

Man, it's been a while since I've written for fun, refreshing really, haha

I thoroughly enjoyed that. Thanks for sharing. I have developed a taste for fanfics of all shapes and sizes due to the overwhelming nature of the disappointment of which I preordered the collector's edition, coincidentally.

Welcome ;)

I've heard that admitting the problem is the first step toward recovery

I'm not sure what the other steps are

Keep calm and romance Miranda.
Right?
(Can't find the pic that's based on, think Dr Doctor made it)

Hi, it's always nice to see a new "Miri-aholic" around :wizard:

I liked your excerpt, it's really enjoyable to read. It brought a smile to my face.

The next step would be to wean ourselves from Miranda. Fortunately Bioware helped us greatly in that regard in ME3. They did it for us :o
I'm still addicted though, it's a good thing I still have my bottle of "ME2 Miranda 2010".

That's the worst possible advice I've ever heard

I don't have a problem with having a creepy fanboy obsession with Miranda (or Yvonne for that matter) ^_^

I have a problem with people telling me I have a creepy fanboy obsession with Miranda!

@bold: I know ;) I was merely kidding with the "alcoholic therapy" allusion.
Just like every regular of this thread I love this character and I don't see any problem with it. That's what characters are here for: creating passionate people.

Edit: @jtav: I'd like to read it but your link wouldn't work "page not found"

Welcome....and I think Miranda might be more popular than you think, even though ME3 has done quite a bit to make a dent in her fanbase.

Which reminds me....I don't have an ME1 game where I didn't romance anybody with a maleShep. As if I'd need yet another reason to replay ME1 and ME2.

@jtav:
LOL, it seems I'm coming back just at the right moment.

However their relationship in itself is neither awkward nor creepy I think. There's no weird line or moment such as the one you quoted.

Yeah, the background to it may be a little...odd, but it's handled in a playful way when brought into the romance. Plus, though she spent two years bringing him back, he still has to prove himself. :P

I personally think it's even the most believable/possible romance, especially after romancing Ashley in ME1.

I think for a maleShep, Ashley's and Miranda's romances are the only ones that don't feel at least awkward at times.

Except when Ashley recites poetry at you.

I'm just a hopeless non-romantic. :P

As usual, you mix romantic content and a thrilling story about something else extremely well. Looking forward to the second part. I'll post a review then.

Honestly, the poetry bit just rubbed me the wrong way completely.

I still wish we had a catfight between Miranda and ashley. I would actually do a trilogy runthrough that keeps ashley alive just to see that.

Lol, I think its the same thing (Miranda or Yvonne) in the end they are the same person. However,
sometimes thats my situation as well,  :pinched: I so hate it...
Oh, and Welcome CEO, glad to have another Miri-aholic here as Thom mentioned earlier :wizard:

My thoughts exactly :)

BTW jtav, I was wondering: do you plan on writing a fanfic based on the Destroy ending? I think it would be interesting to know your artistic vision on the three endings.

Hey everyone. I'm new to this thread but its a great one. I wish Miranda had more content for ME3 considering she was one of the most important characters in ME2. I felt like she got the figurative shaft considering how much more content the romances of Liara, Ashley/Kaiden and Garrus got. Even though Tali wasn't a full squad member near the end you still got to do missions with her, Miranda was just a few meetings on the Citadel and then one brief convo near the end of a later mission. She also lacks a good "scene", not that it has to be epic or anything, but after what they gave us in ME2 with her, it is very anti-climactic to have just a "fade to black" in ME3.

I love the game and am very grateful for the EC, but this is one thing I still wish was added in. Maybe future DLC?!

Hey if we can adapt the teachings of Family Guy in any way, it's this: Miranda/Yvonne obsession isn't the problem, you just need to find a safe space in which to partake.

Obsessed fans, meet safe space:wizard:
