No.
of course you didn't hate her. you're the guy that bought mass effect solely on a pretty woman on the cover. you bastard.
Dude, why the **** are you calling a bastard??? I also bought ME2 because of the Gameplay. You are insulting me for no reason, and it's really not necessary.
Quit talking to me like I'm some shallow ****. Why the **** do I have to take crap from anyone?<_<
Calm down. I'm just heckling you. I'm not out to get you. Quit spamming PM's at me.
Plus you've made it abundantly clear that you bought ME2 based on a commercial featuring Yvonne/Miranda. That's pretty shallow if you ask me.

When I first saw Miri, I was Amazed (I think) because of the amount of detail she had. I Forgot how amazing Mass Effect Looked, because I saw pictures of the first one back in 07/08. Miri's face reminded me of a Beautiful Woman who I would have seen in Musicals, Romance, and even Bond Films in the 60's. For reason, that poped in my Head. I've never seen so much detail put in for a Beautiful Human Woman in a Video Game Before.
I didn't even know her name, or what she sounded like, until I saw the Lazarus Scene on YouTube, when Shepard woke up, with Miri looking over him. After that, I got interested in her Even more. I watched through ALL of Lazarus on YouTube. She Attracted me to her. When I found out that I had ability to have a Romantic Relationship with someone in ME2, and when I realized that Miri was a Potential Love Interest/Romance for Male Shepard, I IMMEDIATELY picked her. I knew NO other Characters at the time except for Miri, Shepard, and Jacob.

Not really. I don't have anything against him, and I'm not out to get him like he thinks. But sometimes when I think he's gonna go off on a tangent, I give him something to focus his energies on.
Plus I'm the kind of guy that does this

Fun Fact: My Sister was playing Dragon Age: Origins before I bought ME2. That's how I found out that ME2 and DA:O were made by the same Company, along with Finding out that I can have a Love Interest, like in DA:O.

Believe me, I still like Final Fantasy. I'm still keeping an eye out for Versus XIII, which is most likely XV now. And I watched my brother and sister play games like FFX and FFX-2, FFXII, and XII. I played FFVII spin offs, and I have Final Fantasy VII: Advent Childern: Complete.
I even like Kingdom Hearts, but that's my brother's thing nowadays.
PS: Yes, I am a Nerd. It's not like there's anything wrong and unfortunate in being one. I Love and Enjoy, what I love and Enjoy. It's so simple, people.

^ Miri and Ori switching clothes.
Miri: Ori tried on one of my extra Outfits today. *Smirks* She wasn't too comfortable. She asked me, "Randa, how can you possibly walk, fight, and sit down in this bloody thing?" I tried on one of her Outfits, and it felt good to be in something that wasn't combat attire.

Love that pic. Could Miri be any more adorable than she is right here? Then again I could say the same for Oriana.

Hate is a very strong word. I don't think I ever hated Miranda but my first impressions of her character wern't very good. She seemed so smug and abrassive and her general attitude to Cerebus and how she though they could do no wrong didn't exactly make me warm up to her character early on. In the early stages of ME2 I wanted someone to knock her down a few pegs, put her in her place, I wanted her to be put in a posistion where she would have no choice but to see just how evil TIM was and to be forced to with the difficult decision of staying with Cerebus or joining Shepard. I'm also ambarressed to admit it but I also spent a great deal of ME2 expecting her to stab me in the back ( even long after I had fallen for her ).

*blink blink blink* I think I need to erase my Internet History now....and pour some bleach on my brain....
Anyways, about my first impressions of Miranda....Its a bit interesting actually. I didn't find her to be ****y as many people do. I looked at the situation of her assistant trying to ruin 2 years of hard work, hundreds of co-workers dying, and the Lazzerus Station's distruction, with the added fact that she very much wasn't prepaired for everything to move on so quickly with Commander "unknown" Shepard so I sort of gave her a pass there.

The thing is, the term refers to that plot function the character type isn't locked into any more, so "femme fatale" doesn't really fit any more. Miranda would fit the type in Dean's plot outline, but she works perfectly as a character, with all her traits intact, without the element of being detrimental to the hero.flemm wrote...
hot_heart wrote...
True, I just dislike that the term is essentially synonymous with 'dangerous woman' and, therefore, pretty meaningless. A few archetypes have held their original definitions, why not this?! I will fight it!
If there's a woman in that role in popular culture, she will automatically be attractive, alluring and deadly.
Well, I don't know. An alluring, mysterious, deadly women, with secrets, a checkered past, morally gray etc.... all of those traits together are always going to be recognizably a femme fatale. What has changed is more that this type of character is no longer locked into a single plot function with regard to the hero. Which is probably good, really.
It's probably an archetype that can't stay the same because too much has changed about how our culture perceives women, female sexuality, sexuality in general, and so on (mostly for the better, really).
Character types like Miranda need a new term, describing a superset of the original femme fatale.

She would make a dry remark about whether the placement of Shepard's gun indicated a lack of confidence.enayasoul wrote...

I wouldn't say that. The problem with ME3 is that its storytelling quality (the combat-related gameplay is superior to ME2's) is so uneven and that it focuses more on plot and less on characterization. The Tuchanka and Rannoch story arcs are better overall than most things in ME2, but then there is Sanctuary, Thessia and London.CEO Fun Buttons wrote...
I think we can all agree on that. I'd go as far as to say ME2 is the best in the series, but something tells me that's a majority held belief.o Ventus wrote...
Agreed. I would also nominate Thane (Especially so in the romance path) and Legion for depth.
Of course, I think ME2 is the best of the series when it comes to characterization.
