She'd have to have a real hit. A big one. One that puts her face everywhere.

But even then that can last only for a short time.

Jennifer Aniston is around now ONLY because she spent all those years doing Friends and she's had jobs after that because of that.

I've never seen Chuck, but from what I understand it's a cult show, like Firefly. She'll probably end up like Nathan Fillion. Incredibly popular with certain groups, but never truly "out there".

If you've noticed, all of the past guest stars on Dexter have been actors just like her. Lithgow, Stiles and Olmos are all popular with certain people but past that...nothing.

I would however like to point out, that the best actors are usually not the ones making the big bucks and having their faces plastered everywhere.

I am a huge Roger Waters fan by the way.

Yeah thats how I view her right now. Jennifer Aniston is not what I would call a good actress. I see Strahovski as a lot like Nathan Fillion as you said, or Tricia Helfer, who she really reminds me of for some reason.

Chuck is very much a cult show, but critics have always loved it, and one of the most consistent praises is how well acted it is. The cast takes incredibly corny and campy plot-lines and turns them into awesome, ass kicking, hilarious romps. And the cast genuinely had fun doing it. They loved it. You can read about the rumor where Yvonne turned down the opportunity to play Ms. Marvel in the Avengers so she could film season 5 of Chuck. And really, Yvonne and Zach Levi are the two true focal points of the show. Their dynamic and the evolution of their relationship from that of protector/charge to mentor/protege to bickering but passionate lovers to happily married couple and back to the beginning with reversed roles, just makes the series so good. I have never rooted for a person more than I have for Chuck. You love him, you sympathize with him, and you feel his pain and heartbreak when things are bad with Sarah. And you feel the same with Sarah as well. They keep the series grounded. I know you said something about never going to watch it but just eat your pride and watch it - it is ****ing awesome.

And you are right, a lot of the best actors are not hugely known.

Saw him back on June 11th for his Wall/Goodbye tour. He had Snowy White with him. It rocked.

I got some bad news for ya, sunshine; Pink isn't well he stayed back at the hotel, so they sent us along as a surrogate band; we're here to find out where you fans really stand!

I don't have time.

But hearing that about The Avengers tells me what kind of person she is though.

It also tells me that she's more interested in being challenged than being popular.

Respect.

Well, "Dexter" should open up a few doors to her as far as introducing her to a different kind of fan base. It's a different role for her as compared to "Chuck," so it will be nice to see the range of her ability.

Look at Olivia Wilde. She was in a lot of sub-par films and some rather good ones (Alpha Dog - although not a main character) but when she got on "House," she skyrocketed right after that. It is entirely reasonable to assume, that if "Chuck" had become a ratings hit like of "House" or anything, then Strahovski would have had that opportunity to take that next big step...

If it goes as poorly as last season it will close doors. But it won't matter if it works either.

It isn't a marketable role. She's playing a killer. Dexter has reached a level of self parody at this point. Never mind verisimilitude, it's nothing more than a horse with a broken leg that has yet to be shot.

Showtime and HBO hire great actors, not marketable ones. Ever wonder why James Gandolfini isn't in more things? No one wants him.

No one will want Michael C. Hall after Dexter either.

Basically she'll either land some type of big role, or she'll be more of a minor star with a strong cult following. Either makes for a good career, really.

In the long run the latter career is better. It is already the one she has. She'll always have work.

It only takes one mistake with the former and you have nothing.

Yeah, I'm sure that's true.

Speaking of what I'd personally like to see, I'd like to see her snag some sort of role in the Marvel movieverse, maybe Sharon Carter or Carol Danvers. Would be a good fit.

Emma Frost would be best. get that twit January Jones out. She's a nasty **** anyway from what I've heard.

Hmmm, well, that's a decent fit, too, in certain ways. Though I think those others could potentially be better.

So the problem is she might get typecast? I'm very naive in the world of entertainment intrigue.

For all intents and purposes, she's already been typecast I guess. Look at Sarah Walker and Miranda. Thus far, those have been her 2 biggest roles.

I want you to explain one thing though. You use the word marketable a lot. What exactly do you mean by it?

Maybe I'm just poor at navigating the internet, but you keep saying that Dexter (especially season 6) is really bad and poorly received, but almost all of the aggregators and critics I've seen/read/heard give it fairly high reviews (4/5, 80/100, etc). I think the show is a bit beter than the book series it's based off of, if for nothing more than ditching the implied paranormal aspect and just making Dex a sociopath.

Well, if we're talking like Sarah Walker Yvonne, then Ms. Marvel would be best as you said. From a Miranda Yvonne, Emma Frost gets it. Emma Frost is extremely similar to Miranda, and of course, I much prefer her to Jean Grey.

nah, discount reviews remember. now you're sounding like bioware. Season 3 was the last good one imo. I watched 4 and decided halfway through the season it wasn't worth my time. I heard from a friend about Rita's death, and from the same friend that season 5 was pretty bad. The stories just get far fetched and they just aren't fun anymore. I've heard season 6 was somewhat of an improvement but people have told me it was still subpar to the first 3 seasons. I will be downloading the episodes with Yvonne, just to see where it goes however.

I dunno. The only full season I've seen was season 6. I liked it, but then again, I already knew the premise of the show and knew not to take it too seriously.

The big plot twist near the end of the season was kind of contrived though.

She doesn't have the appeal that other celebrities do for a variety of reasons. People don't want talent they want something that will keep them amused.

Hollywood doesn't like people taking risks, they want sound investments. Studios know that people will return to see Adam Sandler play a man child OVER and OVER again.

She's playing a killer in Dexter and she'll probably be used for sex appeal. That's a major turn off. Worst case scenario it could severely damage or even ruin her career.

I'll be honest with you. From what I understand she's a fabulous actress, but it's quite apparent that has been successful for...other reasons. Everytime I see her she's half dressed. That's what people want from her.

People aren't going to want Miss Strahovski killing people, that's a fact. Her fan base will follow her anywhere but the public will look at it with reservation. Dexter is already on the fritz and I'm fairly certain we're going to see some nasty things said about her.

Actually...no one that has been on Dexter for the past three seasons has had much of a career afterword...

And Lithgow won awards...

I apologize for the negativity. Understand that it comes from over one hundred years of this type of behavior in Hollywood. Unlike the Catalyst, I can prevent data.

I should probably write something regarding my ending though. Put it into a physical format. How has that worked for everyone else? Is it cathartic?

I actually really like Nathan Fillian. Castle is one of my favorite shows ever. Come to think of it...I'd love to see Strahovski on Castle some time. I've never seen Dexter or Chuck but I would love to see a serious role from her.

For the record, I hate Adam Sandler. Can't stand it. I hate Man Child over acting. Hate Will Farrel for the same exact reason. I liked Farrel in Stranger than Fiction (A serious role) but I hate him everywhere else where he throws trantrums and acts childish and is such a large ham that I feel ill watching it.

Ehh, I don't mind either Ferrell or Sandler's man-childishness, mainly because I'm already so used to their backgrounds on SNL, where every other male cast member was a huge man-child.

But I am looking forward to seeing Yvonne on Dexter. I like the actress andI like the show, but I can already tell I won't like the outcome...

She might not end up naked and strapped to the table.

He isn't supposed to track serial killers anymore.

Then again they're doing ANOTHER season after this.

Frankly, this is the only qualm I may have about her character.

But then, her character isn't an antagonist, is she? Or has that been divulged yet? I could have sworn I read somewhere that her character helps Dexter, but that could have been for something else entirely.

She's been brought in to help him with cases.

Again I'd like to point out that verisimilitude is not one of Dexter's strong points.

Serial Killers are INCREDIBLY rare.

I'd imagine that it's going to involve sex though, at least in some capacity. I wouldn't be surprised if she's like Aileen Wuornos and kills men because she thinks they're going to harm her.

I'd go with Sharon Carter just for the fact that her suit looks really similar to Miranda's

As for Miss Marvel I'd say that Shepard's doing a pretty good job with that role.

I actually doubt this.

I also doubt they're going to do the "female killer taking revenge on her attackers". They already did that with Lumen.
