I've thought about denying Miranda access to Alliance resources (under the premise that the Alliance can't afford to spare any), then coming back to the Citadel post-Sanctuary and seeing if Ashley's date scene is still available (though just switching pre-apartment scene would be easier).jtav wrote...
Quietly dumping Miranda via switching LIs has no ill effect, correct? It's not that I don't like her. Mostly I'm just bored and want to actually get a romance goodbye.

I know, but the scene still plays out like Shepard and Miranda are just friends because all they do is talk. Yeah I know that Miranda gets onto the bed with Shepard but it still doesn't really feel like a boyfriend and girlfriend scene.Taboo-XX wrote...
^ I think what he meant was that if she wasn't romanced the scene played out like friends.
It's more of a long distance relationship in ME3.
Of course it ends if you die.

I think the implication was pretty clear...at least it was to me.
However from what I understand Liara's scene is closer to softcore porn than anything.
She's still having some issues. They're together but it isn't as finite as it will be once he finds her in Destroy.
She asks him if he was worried about her on Horizon, which is pretty revealing.

I would rate Liara's romance scene M-rated for partial nudity. I guess Miranda's apartment romance scene does make sense in a way, after all she is worried about her sister so she doesn't really have time to waste. I also liked the conversation between Miranda and Shepard on Horizon.Taboo-XX wrote...

I'm going to be totally honest but...I think Sheploo is ugly. Blech. Just, I see the appeal but for my Shepard? Nope. I like my interpretation of Shepard and it also makes him unique.
Anyways, If they were to make 'Romance DLC' (i.e. Plot Mission that also fills out romance content) I have no idea how they'd do it. They have four romances that need severe fixing and one of them is possibly beyond the point of no return. I can see how to work Jack and Miranda into a DLC could work. Miranda hunting Cerberus and Jack discovers a Cerberus base manufactuing broken biotic children as soldiers or something along those lined.
But, Thane is where I can't figure out how to tie in without a while new mission nessicary. Jacob could get some "Fem!Shep just ****-slapped me" dialogue out of the DLC but I think his romance is dead. Thane just....I don't know how you'd fix it in a DLC tied to both Miranda and Jack.

Yeah, Jack and Miranda can be fixed together easily since they're tied to Cerberus and the idea of Jack's childhood mess being manufactured for War by Cerberus ties her into a mission and Miranda helping shut it down could easily develop their relationship.
But, as I said, I can't think of a way to fix Thane in the same DLC. He needs a lot more work thane Miranda and Jack combined.

Liara is the creator's little pet. Much like Jar Jar is to george lucas, though Liara isn't quite at that threshold yet.
To the developers, we Miranda romancers got everything we wanted in the previous game. And apparently they think that all the hardcore fans prefer the first game.
It's true, ME1 had a better plot, and was more of an RPG, plus I like how wryly cynical and deadpan Shepard is if he does a lot of Renegade actions. And the amount of Dialogue options was incredible
But ME1 lacked good squadmates minus Wrex who was pretty interesting. Gameplay is at times downright painful as well, but at least it goes by quick enough if you have the right set up. But despite all the praise and attention Mass Effect 2's characters got (Every character was great, except for maybe Jacob), it wasn't the ME1 team. Bioware really pushes you towards either Liara or the VS (Ashley specifically) and it's pretty apparent that they wanted you to play as a pro-alliance paragon.
Mass Effect 2 is almost treated like the black sheep of the franchise despite it being the most popular with the fans and critics. Don't be surprised when everything related to it is retconned out of existence or so badly mutilated that you wish it was retconned out of existence.

I see where you're going and I agree with you. My very first Shepard I made, I customized him, and hated it. I kept customizing until I saw you could use the default. I did the default, and bam. Sheploo worked instantly and I made that critical connection. And he's based off of Mark Vanderloo, one of the biggest supermodels in the world.
It's true he can look bad in some scenes, but a lot of the lighting and angles give him that gruff, ruggedly handsome appearance that could only be had by Commander Shepard. And Mark Meer's voice is really the only thing I can imagine working for Shepard. I can't see a femshep. I just can't they just don't work.

The resolution for the model is much higher than the custom ones. He has a tendency to end up looking strange if you don't do it right.

Does anyone know if any dialogue in ME3 changes if you didn't do Miranda's loyalty mission? I'd sort of expect a "You have a sister?" line if you never talked to her about it in ME2.

I'm not sure if the game accounts for that. I've never imported a game where Miranda is unloyal from ME2, but survived the SM. I guess it might be like the default game? But... I'm not sure.

What's sort of strange is that Miranda's codex entry never discusses the fact that she has a sister. I've created a new Shepard in ME3 and Miranda still talks about Oriana as if you did her LM.
Now if I were new to the series I'd be wondering why the heck should I care that someone who I just met's sister was kidnapped when the whole of organic life is being harvested by the Reapers?

Well, she doesn't really ask Shepard to care about it (in the first dialogue). It's more: I'll handle this while you're handling that. I forget if you can ask her to "stay close" in the default but of course in an import it's the reason given for her not coming along right away.

I think the codex entry was written by the same guy who wrote the post-Sanctuary SB email

A lot of it has to do with the suicide mission mechanics. The writers wrote themselves into a hole with that one...
But Bioware wanted fewer characters to focus more on the interpersonal interaction between Shepard and the team. Looking at how Mass Effect 2 had 13 possible squadmates and ALL of them (minus Zaeed) had incredible dialogue and character development. And as for Zaeed, he's the only hired hand really. He's a gruff mercenary and his opinion on things stretches as far as the amount of credits you can push towards him. But do you really expect anything else? He was exactly what I expected him to be and that's all I wanted him to be. Which is why his character and the auto-dialogue that goes with it works.
I'm too tired to remember the point I was going to make, so I'll just pull this out of my ass and say this is why auto-dialogue for Zaeed works in ME2, aimed at the people who think the auto-dialogue was ok in ME3 and use the auto-dialogue card in ME2 to shut us up. I know I pulled a completely irrelevent argument out of my ass just now, and I already know everyone agrees with me on auto-dialogue sucking bad for ME3. goodnight. or have a happy few hours or whatever.

The Suicide Mission IS NOT the issue. If the reason ME2 Squadmates can't have huge roles is because any of them could be dead, Then why does Mordin, who is one of THE most likely to die out of all 12 Squaddies, have the emotional high point of Mass Effect 3?
No. The excuse of "Anyone can die" doesn't fly. As I've said before, Wrex's death puts a new spin on the Genophage and Mordin has the largest role in ME3 out of the ME2 Squaddies despite both probably being dead by ME3's beginning.

And that's fine. We so happen to have at least two major groups dedicated to Miranda with less exposition than this thread where we can say whatever comes to mind. In this thread, which lurkers and even devs might read, I'd rather we have more respectful and interesting debates. If there is none to be had at the moment, there is nothing wrong with lowering the movement on this thread for awhile.
