You ever notice how drunken Tali talks about Miranda (after Sanctuary, Mirad alive) in the past tense? I thought that was kind of weird, especially some part of her speech implies that Miranda died ("It cost her everything, but she got it done. She defeated her father").

Well, "she got it done" isn't really problematic, since the event is in the past. But the speech as a whole feels wierd if Miranda is alive, yeah.

Edit: Taboo's example is the line I was thinking of, in particular.

Ditto.

Also, Liara's talking about Miranda or any other ME2 LI, "You and Miranda WERE close" We still are ****.

Maybe Miranda was meant to die there? I mean, The scene DOES work better if she dies....As much as I hate that....

Hence the "it cost her everything" bit. It doesn't fit at all if she's alive.

Yep, that as well

To be honest, looking at Michael Gamble's tweet about her it looks like the intention was for you to break up with her.

I was sitting in a Restaurant when I read that. I remember what I was doing because it was so ****ing dumb.

I won't dig it up because it was months but I'll paraphrase.

"I was one of the only ones to stay true to Miranda throughout the entire trilogy."

Thanks Mike. That told me a **** ton.

In fact I remember I had ordered a Cheeseburger and was listening to Queen and David Bowie's Under Pressure. The Rah Mix.

That's how much the moment is seared into my head.

Well at least there is the option for her to survive.

If she had to die, i can't even imagine how immense the sh*tstorm would have been.

Clearly that was supposed to be the obvious/easy choice this time around, yes.

I didn't even know she could die until I came onto the BSN and heard about it.

I was shocked to be honest with you.

It wouldn't bother me so much if it wasn't so apparent they blew their budget on her death scene, only to later realize "oh sh*t, some people might want her to survive, we better throw something together quick!" and compiled the current survival scenario.

The correct answer is:

Employee: Mac, I think some people romanced someone other than Liara."

Mac: "Really?" "I thought my writing told everyone which one was the one they should choose."

You know, I've been thinking about the whole Creators vs. Synthetics thing the Catalyst told us...

Reapers = Synthetics
Creators =/= Organics

What if the Reapers and the Catalyst killed eachother?

He presents a logical fallacy known as appeal to probability.

A is possible/ Therefore A is absolute.

Nothing he says has any bearing on reality.

I don't think the Reapers are aware of his presence to be honest.

In a way, I wish her death was mandatory.

Wait, let me explain!

It's manifest they really wanted her to die, and they had too many romances. So they effectively axed Thane and Jacob without providing replacements. Miranda's survival comes off as them just not wanting to ****** a fanbase off. But it's okay to do what they did to Jacob?

No, I don't think it really is. Thane's case is more debatable, actually, I think, for a variety of reasons, but Jacob should have been treated more respectfully. (In Jacob's case, it's not even so much that the romance is ended, it's *how* it ended.)

They assigned a really bad stereotype to be honest.

But I always play as Sheploo so it isn't much of an issue. I'm happy for Jacob. I have no idea what Dr. Cole sees in him though.

Also, Pro-Tip, dating someone who is terminally ill isn't' a good idea. As awful as that sounds. But from what I understand they kind of dropped the ball on that one...

Rhetorical question.

What I mean is it bothers me that FShep takes the LI hit, and only FShep. Miranda's survival comes off as a "political" (if I can use the word to describe dealing with fans) move rather than legitimate story branching like Mordin.

I wouldn't have had a problem with a 'mandatory' death as long as it was done well (i.e. Mordin). Unfortunately, with Thane and Miranda, while the death scenes are executed fairly well, the actual circumstances surrounding it are pretty tame and unsatisfying.

Well I have no data on how many romanced Miranda but...I would imagine that she stays alive because someone thought it was a good idea to not kill her.

She isn't in the game more because Bioware didn't want her to be. It has nothing to money.

I feel like popularity played a factor in the way the romance was handled...that's why Miranda has the most out of the ME2 exclusive characters...Jack has no romance scene, Thane has one creepy makeout scene and no option to save and Jacob...has...well, that.

Not saying I agree with this (could be wrong too) but that's what I think happened :?

-----------------------------
Just checking past pages...there was a mention of Gambles tweet on Romancing Mirnda, this one I believe?

twitter.com/GambleMike/status/206434615118925824
"Trying to convince @FionesB to put together a Miranda costume for the summer cons. I was one of the few who stayed true to Miranda!"

This part got to me too, but I'm wondering if he's relating this to who everyone else romanced @ Bioware in ME3 or if he's using the raw data from the game pulled from everyone who had the Gameplay Feedback option turned on (they did this for ME2 - 70% of people cheated on their ME1 LI's according to them)

Yeah I know their data can be flawed but I think that's what they had and used for both

Well, I think the inequality issue is a legitimate complaint that I don't disagree with.

In Miranda's case the problems with her story would remain regardless of the evitability of her death. So... meh. It's not really the issue imo.

I really get the feeling that by the time they got to Thessia they were running out of time and resources. The final third of the game is pretty much forgettable nothing interesting or fun really happens. Then again the first part of the game other than Mars really isn't that fun or interesting. ME3 is sort of the Return of the Jedi of the series, it gets the job done but it's the weakest of the three.

Miranda's death is bungled because they were going for redemption but neglected to specify what she needed redemption for. If I were doing that (and my pleas for a different arc were unheard) I'd have her reveal she did install the chip, but never used it. Leng then uses it to disable Shep's abilities during the Thessia battle. So the loss becomes Miranda's fault.
