I would prefer something realistic to be honest.

I'm not one for exaggeration in things unless it's satire.

I want it as straightforward and depressing as possible.

The Citadel collapses on top of Shepard, crushing him as he gasps for breath.

Garrus and Tali both starve to death after the Normandy crashes.

Joker commits suicide after learning that EDI is dead. The rest of the crew are stranded on Planet Nowhere.

Grunt is eaten by Kalros.

As it turns out, female krogan are like praying mantises and eat their mates, and so Wrex is killed by Eve.

Jacob goes down to "the little bar in Rio" and drinks himself into alcohol poisoning.

Jack's biotic implants overload in her head, frying her brain.

Kasumi enters the greybox, but the battery dies while she's inside, effectively turning her into a tomato.

Zaeed falls asleep in his lounge chair in the middle of the day, and contracts sun poisoning.

Javik commits suicide, as he planned to do.

Liara, unable to cope being so far away from Shepard, blows up her office on the Normandy, killing both Glyph and herself.

The Alliance tries and convicts Miranda as a felon for her associations with Cerberus and line her up for a firing squad.

Is that straightforward and depressing enough?

Well, now I'm sufficiently bummed out...

Quick! Someone bust out the polar opposite of this!

When I said realistic I meant something that fit within the lore.

Not Mac Walter's...fantasy land.

Salvation is realistic o Ventus, that's what I meant...

Although I can see that being the ending Mac Walters wanted up there...

Does the relationship strike anyone else as strained in ME3, particularly during the Citadel vidcall? I played the romance and non-romanced versions back to back and Shepard seems more impatient in the romance.

And a question germane to an idea I'm kicking around. Would Miranda have any problem sleeping (as in actually sleeping) with her partner? The relationship is new, but not casual and Miranda is physically safe and not on the run.

I can't see any reason why she would, no.

This has more to do with her dedication to her sister and the writing in general.

Her story is set up for the cross point at Sanctuary, which she will most likely die at.

We were discussing this yesterday actually. I think the reason she's so lackluster in ME3 is because she is intended to die there.

Tali even references Miranda in the past tense, even if Miranda survives.

"You two were close."

I truly don't think they cared sometimes.

But it's also strained because she hasn't seen him in six months, which has a tendency to do that to real relationships as well.

All I can say is that she needs some DLC to level out the nonsense that occured here. So does Cerberus.

Prior to the game being released, there were some leaked story drafts, as well as a leaked script for basically the whole game. Miranda's survival was possible in all of these (with the basic story outline being exactly what it is in the final game). So, it seems likely that it was always going to be possible to have Miranda survive.

If not, it probably would have shown up in at least one stage of what was leaked. But... it seems you are supposed to have to work for it.

Also, all the choices like warning her about Leng, trusting her with the resources, even the Persuade options in the confrontation with Henry... none of these would have any purpose if she couldn't survive.

What I meant was that it at least LOOKS like Bioware intended you to break up with her. Michael Gamble stressed this in a tweet.

She was sidelined, just like Jack,Thane and the others.

Although I think Jacob was seen just enough.

Yeah, we discussed this, I don't disagree with any of that. Just thought I'd mention that other thing.

Having other characters acknowledge the death isn't really a bad thing, though it's not something one can really get excited about (see: Thane fans complaining that his death is never acknowledged).

Joker acknowledges her being alive and so does Liara.

Also she DOES say. "I think you two could be very happy together."

Thanks for the encouragement.

But Tali refers to her as if she's dead regardless.

Tali's drunken speech happening regardless of survival is probably either an oversight or they didn't want to waste line variants on it, but figured it was worth letting it happen in all games (with maybe the fact that she's drunk being an additional justification).

I've never given that much though jtav because the thought has never crossed my mind.

To be honest I don't see her having a relationship as strong as the one she has with Shepard with anyone else.

She might  be awkward, if that's a good way to put it. Probably "biotic kicks" in her sleep, LOL.

I don't see her doing this in the same capacity with anyone else. Or sitting on their lap for that matter.

Well, Bioware loves to copy and paste scenes, lol. Don't expect much from that cuddling scene that every LI gets.
