For me that meeting is love-hate. There's a few corking pieces of dialogue i love but I dislike the control chip convo intensely and find the fade to black and being dumped outside the door grating.

Well, at least this conversation is *about* something: freewill/control. I think Jay deserves credit here for putting together a couple of different parts of Miranda's dialogue in ME2 that had not been associated with one another previously. It's also good because it's Miranda herself doing some soul-searching.

Whatever the weaknesses of this one (and I think there are several), at least it has content. The other ones annoy me more because they are relatively vacuous.

I do get your point. However there's so many issues i would like Shep and Miranda to speak about. Revisiting the control chip dialogue again is not one of them. So it annoys me.

I do agree that, like a lot of Miranda's content in ME3, unfortunately it comes across as too much of a rehash. There is a new element, but... it's not enough.

Still, at least there is a positive side.

Well, if that's the case, list some examples of things you'd like them to talk about.

She brought it up in ME2, but it was never really discussed or the ramifications of it.  I like how she realized that it's the same thing her father would have done, and how easily it would have been to go down his path.  It added some extra depth to her character.  And again, just because she mentioned it in ME2, doesn't mean it was resolved.  She finally got closure on the whole thing with Shepard forgiving her or the other choice that I've never picked (so I have no idea what happens).

I'm not saying it's as great as some of the stuff in ME1 or 2, but it's some decent character growth in a game where that's usually limited to squadmates

I never saw that chip as something such important anyway: I understood the consideration, she said she regretted it after she saw who Shepard really is. That thing was done for me.

Considering the situation they are in, I would have thought about a talk about something more meaningful: There is a Reaper war going on, Earth is in ruins, Cerberus (the company she spent her whole adult life in) has gone crazy, she is infertile, they don't even know if they can ever be together as busy as they are... Something out of that category.

The control chip is just such a minor point to talk about in that situation.

I think they're in a bit of a hard place (sorry about the pun).

She doesn't want him to worry about her.

He doesn't want her to about him.

They can't hold back at that point and it's mentioned in the dialouge. They can't hold it in anymore. I'd imagine that once they're both "finished" they'll be back to business, hence the aprubtness of the cut.

The scene is about comfort in each other for a short time, not tantric sex.

That doesn't excuse the lack of a proper transition. The abrupt(now your transported outside the door) is just bad. A quick cutscene of them after the act saying goodbye is badly needed imo.

I wanted to stop by and drop in two things.  First, a screenshot manip I did this week that you might enjoy:

"Rebel" by Graceyn

So this pic goes with the current chapter in my fanfic, "If It Meant Living".  The fic is from the perspective of my female Shepard and covers, well, everything.  This chapter is centered around the events on Horizon, but adds significant backstory to how Miranda tracked down her father and got to Horizon.  I'd like to think it presents her in a rather more positive and strong light.  Also, at the end, Miranda and Oriana go with Shepard back to the Normandy, so Miranda will continue to appear in the remaining chapters.

I know it can be weird to drop in and just read a single chapter in an established fanfic, but I will say that Miranda also got significant attention in the ME2 storyline (Chapters 17-45, and in particular Ch. 38-39 and 44).  Anyway, here's a link to the current chapter for anyone who is interested: If It Meant Living-66: "Prodigal" (ff.net) / Deviant Art.

Thank you for your time :).

True, but most of that stuff is taking place around them.  The control chip is something that exists between them.  Maybe that's why Miranda needed to bring it up.  She can't end the war/stop cerberus/come on the normandy(for some reason), but she can resolve this thing between her and the (only?) man she loves?  I mean, it seemed to me that it was something that was really eating her up, so possibly it was resolved for Shepard, but as she was the offending party, she didn't feel forgiven for it yet.  And it wasn't like she tried to put a control chip in just anyone.  This was Shepard, the most important person in her life (that she's not related to).

Anyways, that's another reason I liked it.  It wasn't some random conversation about stuff going on, it was something personal and intimiate that could only be discussed and resolved between them.  Just my opinion.

The cut is aprupt and ugly, that we can agree on.

However, I can't expect everything to be perfect.

I'm sure they said goodbye to one another.

Gah, it looks good but I can't read it until I've written my own version. Wouldn't want to risk subconsciously plagiarising or whatever.

Very nice pic though.

Well, the fact that Cerberus has gone completely nuts, with indoctrinated troops running around everywhere, and Miranda and Shepard never discuss this... it's just mind-numbingly, appallingly stupid.

I have a hard time understanding that one.

I can only imagine that it's part of some "big picture" or high-level consideration, for example the idea that there can be no ambiguity in Cerberus' portrayal this time around.

Because Miranda and Shepard speaking about this would have to allow for some ambiguity, they cannot discuss it. Probably something like that.

Yeah i'm sure they said goodbye to one another. I just didn't expect such shoddy work from Bioware and don't think it its an unrealistic expectation that there should have been a proper sequence there.

From what I've been led to understand Liara's scene amounts to softcore porn.

If we ever get a DLC with Miranda ask for a better Love Scene. I won't but I wouldn't mind one.

Put your name in the hat for Shep and Miri make a Porno if that's what you want. =]

They want Miranda to be a tragic figure who people feel sad for when she dies. Ohh the poor misguided infertile woman died to save her sister BS. Posted ImageHaving her have a proper discussion with Shep about Cerberus and her beliefs would conflict with this.

You should feel sad for people when they die anyway. She doesn't have to die either, if you know what you're doing there is no excuse for her dying.

But I've always sympathized with Miranda's story so I've accepted things as they come.

She was shoehorned in ME3 and it shows, but a good, solid DLC can fix that.

Well, I don't think that's actually true in the abstract. It would depend on how it was addressed.

Anyway, it's BS of one form or another. No point in hair-splitting =]

Truthfully, she survives entirely on the strength of my lingering affection, the email, and the slides. Words cannot express how much I hate Miranda in ME3. Exact;y the kind of character I'd kill so I didn't have to deal with her.
