It's convenient (for Bioware) because she's alive no matter what and is tied to Cerberus. They didn't bother doing the if/or situation to have Miranda as main but have EDI there as backup if Miranda is dead.

Probably because otherwise she is never significant as a team member. However, it makes the Cronos mission laughable from a story perspective (at certain points, I mean).

The memories of these comments from these haters and even the named coursed through my head like poison, as if they were all trying to change me. This has been the main ****ing reason why I have been under stress for days. I was afraid of my opinion changing because of those bastards. How? How can you possibly compare a Beautiful Video Game Woman, who was Voiced By AND Modeled After a Beautiful Woman, to something like THAT?! I live in fear every ****ing day, trying to keep it all away from me because I'm afraid of my opinions changing, and I don't want them to. I even went as LOW us using side to side pictures to prove my point. This is ****ing painful. Anyone who claims that any woman (Real Life, Video Game, Movie. It doesn't ****ing Matter) looks like MJ, is basically calling that woman ugly, and it's very insulting! I have had it up to here with this bull****!

Miri doesn't look "Black turned White" Guy who has a messed up nose and a messed up mouth with a face that looks like the skeleton is about to pop out. I'm so tired of seeing this on the Internet. It makes me sick and pissed off.

It's like someone coming along and insult your girlfriend, and there's nothing that you can do about it.

EDI's real story is in her character development. The Pinocchio story.

It could have been done with her interfaced with the ship and some such but that's what we have.

She's mandatory because BioWare wanted to make sure you took their new character on at least one mission.

That's because she has no real reason to be there. It basically amounts to: there is a door on cronos station that EDI has to open. Which, from a story perspective, is the absence of a reason.

Her mandatory presence probably allows for a certain amount of dialogue not to be canned, though. But you could do basically the same mission with canned dialogue.

We don't know how she's infertile.

It could be as simple as blocked fallopian tubes.

It could have something to do with the way cells form in the uterus.

After LotSB, I've always been of the opinion that her infertility was somehow the result of deliberate genetic tampering by her father as another means for controlling her, which is very in-character for the guy.

Talking of the genophage and how it was cured, why exactly wouldn't something be done similar to Miranda to correct the benign neoplasm that renders her unable to concieve?

If it were me, I'd have made Miranda a temp for Cronos. Cut the second convo and some of the Sanctuary logs and you could probably eve make the line budget.

If it's a benign tumor it can be removed. I would assume that they form in places that prevent fertilization (SHOCKING).

In that regard, if one should find a way to remove the tumors without them forming again for at least nine months I'd say you'd improve her chances for having a child.

But Synthesis does not do that.

It's funny, for a while leading up to and following the release of the game, the ign ME3 guide stated that Miranda would appear in one or two priority missions, depending on the romance. Eventually that was edited. I remember thinking it was odd at the time.

Somebody else who thought the script had to be incomplete probably lol

Miranda has a large role, relatively speaking. It's just that a lot of her lines feel like padding. They add nothing. Jay needed a good editor.

"This guy is someone's father? I can't believe it."

The guy in questions is, naturally, Henry Lawson. This brough to mind the previous assessment we had made of Miranda and Ashley being as different as ice and fire, brain and heart, etc while still being both incredibly tough and driven women.
And here is another layer. Ashley and Miranda were both shaped by their relationships with their fathers but while Ashley's was positive, Miranda's was negative.

I wish they could have conversed.

I think he had a lot of help from Weekes to even get this to the state it's in now (the other version of the 3rd dialogue in the sound files is a disaster compared with the version we have now). But the real problem is that the direction is just wrong. To the bone. And it has nothing to do with her being more open with Shepard. Of course she should be at this point.

If we ever get to see Miranda characterized properly again, it will be obvious how wrong this really was.

Unfortunately, this has some weight at the moment simply by existing.
